  1. Nobody told me anything. But that's the timescale from reading the letter. Ie they spoke a couple of weeks ago but found out about the objection during the week before the final. Anyway I was meant to be giving it a rest.it's not a massive deal.
  2. The other thing about the timing is it looks like the play off final was agreed after Edinburgh were told the plan but they then waited until the final was organised to let glasgow know they were objecting. Ie make sure we commit to the weekend that suits them.
  3. If I'm being honest, I wasn't overjoyed at the letter being handed out on Friday as it was a great night and it soured it a little even for me as a Tigers fan. But I believe we will race on a Friday at some point in the future. I appreciate what you are saying, and I would be gutted if either club went under (again!!!). I spent many nights as a kid on the Powderhall terracing. Let's see what happens. I will bow out of the argument as it's going nowhere and in no sense am I anti-edinburgh speedway.
  4. In their rights to have their objection noted, but not to have it adopted. It will be up for debate / vote I'd assume (although maybe wrongly).
  5. That's only for policing reasons. Celtic and Partick Thistle are playing at home on the same day constantly, next on the 31st October.
  6. Friday is not taken - for example Scunthorpe Scorpions have dropped their Friday slot and moved to a Sunday. There is one less club in the PL running on a Friday next year as it is. So makes sense for another team to race on a Friday. Also Edinburgh is 46 miles from glasgow. It's surely absurd that we are adversely affected because they have moved their track to a location far nearer Glasgow. As I remember we've already been good enough to let them race on a Friday as they are renting these premises. Good luck to Edinburgh, but I hope the BSPA see sense and let us race on a Friday.
  7. Hopefully we won't have to stomach any of this next year then. http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=80123 It's broken, I don't know how to fix it, nothing to do with me, ......Oh look someone is trying to fix it, Lets try and stop them. Oh and by the way, we aren't going to do anything about our infrastructure at Armadale, we don't own it, there's nothing we can do, next season we'll be out of business, give us your money...etc etc etc. Speedway is an incredibly exciting sport and exists in the same market as Ice Hockey, Basketball etc. IE massive family market. Not football, but potentially in the thousands. But for that you need certain things - and the current Edinburgh Head honchos have done nothing about it. I am not blaming Edinburgh speedway fans - it happens at every club. It happened at Glasgow. It all costs money that I certainly don't have. But I am blaming tptb at Edinburgh for saying they can't see a solution and then when someone starts to seriously attempt a solution - they kybosh it. My big hope is that someone of vision buys into Edinburgh speedway. They are a sleeping giant - great side on the track but eeking out an existence at Armadale. I saw this happen in football 20 years ago when clubs were dragged into the twenty first century and I believe it will happen at Edinburgh, just not under the present management who have done incredibly well on the track but by their own admission have run out of ideas for making speedway popular. Even Edinburgh Supporters must see this.
  8. I don't know - the talk was getting Speedway back at Ingleston and it was pointed out the Council was not keen, wheras the council in Armadale (I think West Lothian) have happily accomodated Speedway.
  9. Sorry just back - Edinburgh Council not supporting Speedway in their city.
  10. Here's hoping - Friday at Glasgow was unbelievable. + The council thing is a disgrace.
  11. One of the things I love about Speedway here (as opposed to say, Poland!) is that there is no crowd segregation, you can wander about have a bite to eat and a drink etc... it's just a good vibe. TBH I'd throw people out if they were drunk and shouting abuse - you rarely see it and if you want to behave like that, fire on down to Ibrox or Tynecastle. It's not an Edinburgh thing, though. I've seen a guy in the Tigers stand ranting and swearing like a lunatic in the past.
  12. Agreed but Cook takes points from other heat leaders on such a consistant basis i don't think there's anyone to replace him at the mo. .... wouldn't have made any difference last night though
  13. Well done Monarchs team and fans. Roll on March. Hopefully the spring cup will be on and we see what happens from there.
  14. Can't shout this either way, but I think Monarchs just didn't seem to be 100% last night and we were but also we rode our luck - for Hyneks points in particular. To be quite honest I feel as if anything could happen.... Pijper could be important. Remember some of our performances last time at Armadale. Hopefully Massive crowd, good entertainment and this weekend is remembered only as a great speedway weekend for Scotland. May the best team win.
  15. Oh sorry the Speedway... someone mentioned this to me but I don't know if it was reliable or not.
  16. I believe the council decide they wouldn't give planning permission for a supermarket on the stadium site, which was dependent on. I think they wanted houses. At some point someone told me Livingston was their current favoured option but I may have imagined it!
  17. I'm not boycotting Armadale, althugh can't be there tomorrow. However - get real - there is only one annoyance involved, the same annoyance who I hear bad stuff about week in week out, and it's neither of the Facennas. I used to go to Edinburgh speedway regular so have NOTHING against them at all - quite the opposite. I'd hate Edinburgh or Berwick to go under. But negative tactics rather than getting your own house in order is not the way for a championship winning side (last year) to go....... No wonder the Facennas are annoyed. It's like St Mirren saying Airdrie can't play on a Saturday afternoon in case it affects their attendences. As I said before - someone in the East with a bit of nous needs to get involved in Edinburgh - the potential is there and the suppport is there. The away support tonight was MAGNIFICENT. Not having a pot to piss in, but a winning side is not a long term strategy. Sorry I had to get that off my chest - I shouldn't get involved in the politics. Here's to a cracking meeting tomorrow that must surely finish a bit earlier.
  18. Incredible atmosphere, slow first half due to over zealous Morris / Sarj (though was there a tape problem again - seemed from the 1st bend to be very slack). Over zealous referee. Second half really took off, after Summers horror crash - was delighted to see him back on his feet. Good racing, huge crowd, great atmosphere in the end. Bomber Harris is quite a wee guy, got him to sign my program - not fat at all. Fireworks, disco lights, dancing, singing, carry on. Great people. Enough? No I wouldn't have thought so - hopefully a good guest (Worral appears to be favourite - Stevie). Cooks fall (not injured thankfully) really seemed to make the difference and I was astonished that we came away 7 up. I can't make it tomorrow, but all the best to all speedway fans at the meeting and hopefully no injuries. TBH I'd love to see Edinburgh getting bought by a proper business man and getting out of Armadale. We can and should have two of the biggest speedway teams in Britain, as we certainly have the best derby. Glasgow looking for friday nights is now OFFICIAL.
  19. Going to be a lovely night, but bring your long johns. Really, really looking forward to this weekend as a season closer.
