  1. I'm a bit underwhelmed, but it's not just Poole. Hopefully this will be an exciting season in the elite.
  2. You've got to hand it to Matt Ford for creating the kind of blinkered eejit you usually only find in football. Can't imagine a rider wanting to race for anyone else after being part of the Legend that is ......Poole Speedway and Athletic club.
  3. Speedway is an individual sport played by teams to give it an attractive format. So the riders move up and down leagues and internationally on the basis of their skill. Promotion and relegation of the teams seems pointless anyway. It's a good way of organising teams and letting them find their level, but other than that don't see why it's needed or desirable. Maybe if there were 100 pro speedway teams in the UK we could look at it.
  4. I can understand why someone would go to Poole because it was the best deal, but don't understand if they said 'I'd only ride for Poole' - what's the reason for that. IE are they saying if Coventry offered me more money / a better deal I'd still only ride for Poole?
  5. What's the script with Nick Morris does anyone know? Would have thought he'd be attractive to some teams.
  6. I do have a bit of a concern about a couple of the new guys in that not being gaters and their riding style lends itself to coming through the pack and is more injury prone, but they've gone for excitement so here's hoping we are not too badly hit by injuries.
  7. If Swindon are having trouble they should at least update via social media. No way the track can be ready now and at least if the supporters knew they could assist in some way surely (eg by getting a campaign going or whatever). Really hope it isn't the case but this looks like a scam on the developers behalf if there is no information forthcoming.
  8. A great question. The surroundings have to be pleasant to attract young adults and families. As proved by Edinburgh who have had a hugely admirable, terrific run of form - and the most exciting talent in the league - but the promotion have been bemused by the poor attendences.
  9. We couldn't keep Sargeant by going with that top 4, but I'm hoping he doesn't come back to haunt us. A real talent in the making. Certain he'll take some stick for his gating when he comes back to Ashfield but it'll be water off a ducks back.
  10. Get a grip. It was meant light hearted (as you probably realised) but some of you are bad winners. God knows what it will be like if things don't go your way next season.
  11. Agreed. We rode our luck with guests for a period and IMO were fortunate to end up where we did. I think this team, on paper, is superior.
  12. Bollox - Take Cook out the equation as everyone know he was different class. Home advantage was, is and will remain Edinburgh's greatest strength. Summers was never phased by pressure, nor was Lawson. And Barker will kick your head in.
  13. Lol @ some of the comments on here. Did anyone actually see us riding last year???????????????????????? We lost Kozza, Kauko was pretty much a no show due to injury, David Howe , Dimitri walked out, Heinik never quite too off. For much of the season we relied on RR and guests. Fact - our top four looks potentially immense. Everybody has a UK 3 pointer at reserve - so that's five out of seven. So Luna / Garcia. Lunna was a signing I wanted to see. Great attitude, rides Ashfield well. Garcia has a good name. Very happy.
  14. Very, Very true that. Although I don't think they are 'throwing money at it'. Making good investments, giving us a top class stadium, running like a business, yes.
  15. League matches, first round KO cup and league cup matches (2) so a total of 15. So works out at £15 a time. All playoffs, later stages of cups are extra.
  16. The fundamental thing is that you either have averages or the riders divided into categories (which to be fair is F**** stupid). So what you have ended up with is an average that is set too high, and a heatleader list which is therefore 'required' to stop one or two teams scooping up the best riders. But, hey, the list is easy to subvert anyway. A complete idiot could see this is nonsensical, and anyone with half a brain would have said cut the average total before even THINKING about having an HL list.
  17. Looks amazing. Really is going to be class. I'm going to come down for Belle Vue Poole - please win.
  18. lol. NONE of these guys is taking money out of speedway. In fact the last time I saw Stewart Dickson he was driving the tractor and helping out on a practice day. Any money these guys have is through hard work in the businesses they started and built.
  19. The HL list really is an absurdity.Sold as a way of keeping things level it is the exact opposite. Another thing to fiddle if you can't fiddle the averages.

  21. At the end of the day everyone knows the facts. Riders are having to ride for multiple clubs to make a decent living, Equipment costs are huge compared to non-motorsports, Speedway clubs lose money in the UK, the stadiums are the pits. Glasgow have a beautiful stadium, lots of entertainment and a quality side. But if it's not sustainable it's not sustainable. Glasgow season ticket is same price as edinburgh. IE £15 a meeting.
