  1. Still two Monarchs to be announced thankfully, still time for a few days of shame. At least neither of us is in the Elite league with statman and co
  2. SPEEDWAY IS NOT FINISHED IN THIS COUNTRY. It needs work but there are people doing it. What is ******d is the Elite league. Because it's run badly with loads of mental rules. And because people seem to think if our country can't get the very best in the world it's game over. What a load of bollocks. That's like saying Football is finished in Germany. If people stop going because someone's insulted them, or because Tai Woffinden isn't riding for their team are they really Speedway fans? And here's hoping Speedway doesn't become like so much else these days, populated by people who's only aim is to be offended.
  3. I'm not bothered what Cook says either tbh, just know that the Heat Leader list is a forking shambles. However I would say that the Promoters Work in a very difficult environmet and were there the money available it would be a lot better to have an independent body working on these kind of details, not vested interests.
  4. If they did this by the means suggested, then obviously you would expect every single promoter to be biased in his own direction. Obviously. And therefore you are assuming or hoping that this bias is cancelled out by the other votes. In a league with only 8 teams, and with each promoter having (different) imperfect information, this can't possibly be the case. Wide open to abuse.
  5. Don't see what the big issue is? A speedway forum is exactly where you should be able to insult the great and the good . It's not as if the BSF is a goverment body ffs. If the guy can dish it out he should be able to take it. The Heat leader list being the result of concensus is the WORST possible way to work out anything. You don't have to be thick or biased to see that. In fact you'd have be thick or biased to think concensus is the right way to set out out the fundamentals of team building. I'm sure Jon Cook is a big boy. * Plus point At least I can look forward to the Star this week.
  6. Best not drunk at all. Truly vile stuff.
  7. I'd imagine that's true - Glasgow had to get additional lighting in for the playoff in October. But the existing lights were sufficient for the Sheffield meeting in July (I think)
  8. Can you take an NL rider with an average less than 7?
  9. It looks like the makings of an exciting season, right enough.
  10. This is just completely made up, isn't it? Have to laugh at the idea that the fans trust know what Edinburgh do with their money though!
  11. Edinburgh have got a strong looking side, and as many of the Edinburgh fans have already stated, they have a home advantage which should allow Fisher to increase his average - IF he stays on. However, anyone that says it isn't a weaker team than last year is on drugs. On paper Glasgow, Sheffield and Newcastle all look stronger, surely.
  12. To me Edinburgh and Glasgow look very closely matched potentially. Much closer than last year finished anyway. Fisher and Barker (and touch wood whichever avoids injuries) are an area that could make the difference.
  13. At the end of the day football is pushed constantly by the media as if it's the only game in town. When really it's a bunch of puffs poncing around for 90 minutes. If Speedway was on every second night of the week I'm sure there would be a much bigger support. Never fear though, Glasgow are going to change all of this.
  14. The promoters have acted like a bowling club committee, trying to keep this list secret. What use is that? Well done the Star for printing it. And hopefully it dissapears next year to be replaced by a more realistic system. But the EL looks like disappearing before they get it right.
  15. That's the whole problem though. I can't get BT sport, regardless. Don't have BT broadband or Sky. All my TV is done via Internet streaming Now, Amazon etc. This is ideal for league speedway as you can pay £10 for a weeks access to ALL Sky sports, but BT is completely unavailable.
  16. IF the stadium gets built it is a smaller version of Belle Vue, ie terracing and a stand which will have a capacity of 2500 ish. I think it's a modular build where they drop the prebuilt parts in.
  17. To be fair end of season was probably the best time to have the farewell. Imagine they had been unable to do it because it was the middle of the season etc. I'd assume IF they move mid season the existing stadium won't really be ideal for a farewell at that point (thinking of the logistics). As long as Swindon get their new stadium I'll be happy as Larry. Even for punters watching live matches on Sky from Swindon, Poole and Belle vue, it will be a good advert for the sport.
