  1. I'm a bit peed off as I do not have Sky Sports Extra. Suppose I'll just have to go to the hotel along the road which shows all the GPs and EL matches
  2. Opinions .. 1) Racing was poor due to track. Too dry, no grip ; probably due to leaving the roof open on a hot, sunny day (says Sloop the track man ;-) ). I thought the reason for having the roof closed was so that there were no outside influence on the state of the track :?: 2) Music not as good as previous years. Sorry, but the band was pants. Still thought the atmosphere is unrivalled at any sporting event, including football Cup Finals and Internationals. Millenium Stadium is the perfect setting for the British GP. Fireworks were good. (So Sons of Sloop and Friend of Sons of Sloop tell me !) 3) I thought the attendance was pretty much the same (or more ?) than last year. Guessing at 36,000. Were there really more last year :?: 4) Access to and from Cardiff and the stadium was excellent. Not staying in Cardiff itself, and having resigned myself to an alcohol-free weekend, with 3 youngsters in tow, we used the Park & Ride. No problem. 5 ) Overall opinion ; yes, something was missing. But we can't always expect every meeting we attend to be better than the previous one. We'll be back next year. (And hope to meet some Forum Members next time, if I can put up with the sore head on Sunday morning )
  3. Thanks to this thread, I've now got the tickets and sunglasses at the ready ! Hold on, if I'm taking sunglasses, better stick a brolly in the boot of the car also :-(
  4. Excellent Scorpio. Anyone would think you worked for a train operator or something Oh, Joanne. PLAN C There will be 3 of them and only one of me. They can do the carrying
  5. DutchBoy, there are no Scottish riders in the GP, but watch for a St Andrew's Cross at the end of the back straight ; front row, upper tier 8)
  6. A dilemna ; staying in Bridgend, I'm in two minds whether to take the car into Cardiff, and face the inevitable parking problems, or take the train and have the chance of a couple of drinks (only a couple ; I'm in charge of 3 kids ). Problem is, it seems the last train back to Bridgend is 11pm, the previous one being 10pm. Is the last train likely to be over-crowded ? Is there a chance that we might not get on it ? What's the alternative if we miss it ?(Don't fancy a 20 mile walk). Can anyone with local knowledge or anyone who has travelled this way after either of the last 2 GPs give any advice ? Thanks.
  7. I know it's really on the wrong side of Cardiff if travelling from this part of the World, (about 20 miles west) but have you tried Bridgend ? I managed to get booked in there only recently.
  8. My tickets arrived this morning. No faffing about at the last minute this year. Glad to see you've got yours too Rabbit
  9. Depends how you are travelling DawnG. I only recently (within the last week) booked a room in a hotel in Bridgend, west of Cardiff. Try www.visitwales.com
  10. If anyone doesn't have their tickets a week before the GP, phone the Ticket Hotline and they will probably offer to make duplicates available for collection at the stadium, on the day, if the originals still haven't arrived by then. Hopefully, not many will find themselves in that position, but ....... :x
  11. Really sorry to hear this. I only saw Ken in action once that I can remember when I was very young, but I still feel privileged to have done so. Thoughts are with those who were close to him.
