Somerset V Plymouth 31.7.15
Aroundtheboards replied to Cliffeboy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
We were beaten by a much better side tonight and there is no excuse for the three tape infringements. Rebels you win many and lose few and tonight you lost one you never expected to. Let it be a lesson and back at 'em. Men of iron are allowed a bit of rust in their underpants but let that be the end of the corrosion !!! -

Somerset hope it is a safe meeting for all !!! -
That is exactly the size of it Fromafar. There is no more that the average fan can do or achieve. In most cases a thread like this just goes around in ever decreasing circles and for the most part people are preaching to the converted. All you can do now, unless you have a shedfull of idle cash is sit back and wait and see if there are any investors or ultimately a buyer for the whole shooting match.

Erm! I think you'll find it's cutting your COAT according to your cloth !!!

Just having a smile about the guest situation in general and being civil, you want to try it. -

Nobody is criticising ! It was just an observation !

I remember the days when riders in the Gulf British league carried ONE bike on the back of the car on a bike rack made by MAXIMUM PRODUCTS. One rider that did this was Ray Wilson, Leicester and England Captain !!! True it was a double bike rack for special occasions like Internationals and championship rounds. Mike Broadbanks used to carry his bike in the car boot with the font wheel and handlebars outside the lid tied down with a bungee !!! No smart Renault Traffics, VW's, Peugeots then! It was only the likes of PC, Ivan, Olle etc had decent motorhomes then because of Longtracking and the like! You might have seen the odd ex council Ford Transit but that was it !!! True now that a lot of lads are riding on the continent and need their transport to be a bit more substancial. The bikes have moved on so much in the last 40 years, they never had silencers the only cover was a traveling rug to keep your steed warm once warmed up !!! They are more like traveling billboards now instead of no nonsense trackers. Don't get me wrong, I am not against progress but in those days it was far more relaxed and the lads didn't seem to have the financial pressure, that's because the sport was much more reasonable to take in moneywise and the crowds resembled football crowds in number and for your admittance fee you got two halves to the evening, match then Star of the Night Individual giving value for money. At half time you either had some sort of demo by sidecars or stunt riders. We even had Freddie Starr do a turn once as he was a mucker of Reg Wilson (Sheffield) I know you can't go back but you have to wet the publics appetite. 15 heats run in record time aint the way to do it !!!

Just a thought but while the Witches are licking their wounds from Tungate's 21 day ban, spare a thought for Auty's loss of earnings for the rest of the season eh!

Somerset V Ipswich Postponed. -
Incidents, observation of, interpretation of rules, implementation of penalties and consistency of all the afore mentioned is a joke. Ben Barker did much the same as Tungate to Brady Kurtz in Heat 15 of a Somerset V Plymouth match last season. Everybody appealed to the Ref that something should be done and all he did was shrug his shoulders and Barker gave the crowd the finger !!! As I said, the whole thing is a joke !!!

I have no qualms about Brady, Charles, and at a lesser level Josh and Richie. On top of this, if Leigh can continue in his present vintage form and teamsmanship backed by Paul and if Ollie can roll in his average, we should be quietly confident of a respectable victory - - - - - - - I do hope this is not a kiss of death !!! Weather forecast doesn't look good ! -
It's a funny old game! Josh scores 10 for Rebels V Tigers on Friday and then gives 13 points back in to Tigers V Berwick guesting for Nick !!! I suppose it pays back Tigers for having Nick injured the week before guesting for Rebels V Devils albeit a Cup Match. Now Tigers and Rebels are equal 3rd in the league !!! As I said, --- It's a funny old game !

That's the thing about forums like this. We all like to think we are all experts but be aware, some are, there could be a passed World Champion posting on here and you would never know it. I do hope the Redcargate V Somersetgate fracas is at an end and everyone can prepare themselves for the next upheaval. I know the Rebels are moving on - - - - - - - - - and UP, hopefully !!! -

Hi everyone! I am new to the site and my posts are not shown straight away so they loose their impact. I would like to speak for as a Rebels fan and say yes we were a bit put out having missed out on the away points but Gazza protested, the protest was to late, the SCB have made there decision the management and fans have accepted it in the light that you aren't going to change it so lets move on. Redcar visit the Oaktree on the 7th August we will endeavour to gain their respect on that occasion on the track. If you get my drift. -

I'm sorry SharpenRake. I was purely speaking as a great fan of Nicks and was eluding to last years Nick when he was riding for us. I was really annoyed at the way Nick sustained injury last night, It was so avoidable, Fisher didn't throttle off as crossed the finishing line still intent on catching Nick as he had out ridden Fisher in that race. The inevitable tangle of bikes was purely down to Fisher experiencing red mist. He is bloody dangerous and there was no need of it. I hope Nick recovers in time to take his place in the match against you next week which I am looking forward to , win or loose.
