Poole Pirates Vs Swindon Robins 29/7/15
GoFastTurnLeft replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The fact he's even saying he'll be torn is testament to how much fun he's having at Swindon. He's a dedicated a Pirate as they come, but I'm not expecting him to hold back. He loves racing too much. Middlo might make him sleep outside again though. -

Underestimating the Robins would be a mistake particularly if they can pull in a good guest. We should still win this as long as everyone's on form, but can easily see Swindon getting a point at least. If nothing else Darcy's welcome back and the fact it's not TV should result in a good turnout and atmosphere. Looking forward to this one. -
I don't have an issue with Sarjeant trying to get away with a roller, a lot of top riders do it. The difference being when Janowski gets caught he doesn't throw a strop at the officials and doesn't persist in doing it until he's excluded. It doesn't help that Havvy keeps calling them perfect starts. I understand backing your rider, but if multiple officials at multiple meetings say your boy is jumping, then guess what? He's jumping. He's not going to learn if you keep defending him. He's got a lot of potential but his starts and attitude are his enemy at the moment.

Injuries aside, that was the best advert for elite league Speedway I've seen on TV this year. Glad both teams came away with points, ok mainly because I want Coventry to score as little as possible ;p but also because both teams deserved to take something away from that meeting. Really good racing

Save Coventry Speedway - Meeting July 23
GoFastTurnLeft replied to speedybee's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Really shows what a sorry state British Speedway is in that the team currently at the top of the league is having to worry about their future. Hope you guys get your stadium sorted long-term. -
Speedway Star magazine have listed NKI as the winner of the Swedish GP tomorrow. I'm genuinely tempted to put a bet on
-
Yeah he should. I thought he had recovered which was why he was back. I understand a lot of reserves only get paid for points so I get why he'd want to be back but it's not worth risking your long term health and career for. Wish him a full and fast recovery. Club loyalty doesn't matter when rider injuries are concerned. Never like to see any of them hurt.

Sarjeant earned that reception from his behaviour last time he was here. Although this time he accepted his warning and eventual exclusion without getting in any Marshall's face, kicking any flags or punching any part of the track. He's a good rider but seems to struggle around Wimborne Rd. Happy to see he wasn't hurt. Fully agree on Starke though. His form has improved a lot lately. Really good to see.
-
Well that was just what the doctor ordered, a good night out at Wimborne Rd. I said we needed to dish out a drubbing, and so we did. The move by Starke on Sarjeant was worth the price of admission. Also entertaining seeing the start marshall get his revenge. Paid max for Dak North. Doubt it'll do anything to silence his doubters, but he was brilliant tonight.

and when those two teams have faced each other this year which one has the most wins? Coventry are top of the league on merit right now and are definitely strong, but the sky is still a long way from falling. We need to not underestimate Wolves and we should have this. Holder has been brilliant around Wimborne Rd lately, Dak has good results when he stays on the bike, and Kacper is improving. We also have two great reserves. As much as I always enjoy close Speedway, I think the Pirates need to hand out a drubbing similar to the one they gave Lakeside in order to pick themselves up in time for Swindon.

It's a poor performance when you take a quarter of what your team has the ability of taking. If we took nothing, I'd have downgraded it to 'woeful' I just know how good our club is, we don't need to make changes to our lineup to win the league, we have a great seven man squad, they just didn't look like it tonight, and I dislike that the doom club have more ammo.

There are times I hate being right. As I couldn't see it and only had Twitter updates it's hard to say, but I can't help feeling that we keep thinking we'll get an easy win when we go to some of the lower on the table clubs. Our riders need to take every meeting, every opponent seriously. On paper we should've won this, but based on what I read, seems we had some silly mistakes and I have no idea what was up with Holder, he was brilliant yesterday for Torun.

Coventry V Poole 1/6/15
GoFastTurnLeft replied to kingbee's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I just hope this will put an end to the sorry saga. Coventry lost, they're still top of the table and whining has got nowhere, time to stop wasting everyone's time and get on with the season. I feel bad for the riders who got fined, less bad for Havvy. (and normally I like the bloke) -
Poole Pirates Vs Lakeside Hammers 8/3/15
GoFastTurnLeft replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Depends on if you'd find a Pirates racing demonstration entertaining. It was fun to watch our guys performing at their best (3 paid max) but so massively one-sided the race was over by about heat 6. Fair play to Kennett, Milik and Lawson their heads didn't drop and they kept going for it, but this was about as decisive a Poole victory as you're going to get in this league. On the other side, all the riders raced clean, there were no big crashes, only a couple restarts and the crowd was good. I was surprised to have to park in the overflow, I wasn't expecting such a good turn out for Lakeside. Was pleasantly surprised. -
King's Lynn Vs Poole 1st July
GoFastTurnLeft replied to Star Lady's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Really entertaining meeting. Sure we would likely have scored higher with Holder instead of r/r but then the Stars would likely have scored higher with r/r instead of Bjerre. Impressed by the team as a whole tonight. North and Gomolski stepped up, Maciej led the team from the front once again showing how much he brings to the Pirates. Fair play to the Stars though, well fought and clean racing. Lambert is really impressing me lately. -

Don't really get the hate for Kacper. Sure he's not setting the world alight right now, but he's more often bringing home points higher than his average, he's hit a bit of a slump lately, but it won't last forever. People wrote off Holder and more recently Watt too. Dak puts in a load of effort. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't, but there's just no quit in the guy, plus he can usually bring out the best of Magic's team-riding skills. In truth, this one's going to be tough, I can't call the result this early, but I do really like the Pirates line-up right now. My only slight concern is Starke, who usually does really well whenever he's riding elsewhere, but is a bit unpredictable for Poole. -
Poole Pirates Vs Coventry Bees 17/6/15
GoFastTurnLeft replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I was one of those on Twitter condemning the morons that were making the rest of us Poole fans look bad. Sarjeant acted like a right idiot tonight (Haven't read the thread, but he was warned for jump-starting so he threatened the start-marshall and kicked the flag out of his hands before breaking our wooden barrier) was well as the move that caused him to crash was incredibly dangerous and I'm glad he didn't take Kyle out with him. But that being said, anyone that doesn't immediately react with concern when a rider crashes, no matter what, are not true fans of Speedway IMO. For what it's worth, the applause he got from fans when he got to his feet was a lot louder. So I genuinely wish Sarjeant all the best for a speedy recovery. but maybe try and keep the temper in check next time eh? It spoiled what was otherwise a really good meeting.
