  1. Aggressive paranoia, methinks! can't help wondering if they have stopped English interpretation in schools. I said 'good to see you have borrowed another rider at no 1'. Normal folk would read this as thank god we're not going with rider replacement or a junior rider but oh no he must be having a go cos everyone else thinks its ridiculous that we've used guests at no 1 for most of the season whether for Allen or Ulrich. if you want to think that that is up to you.
  2. I am sorry our team did turn up, you clearly haven't looked at all the photos on the website. Good to see you've borrowed another rider at no.1
  3. I've had a dream - Alex harkness steps down as chair of BSPA but his final act is to ask all promoters to support speedway on a Friday at Glasgow as it will be good for british speedway!!!!!
  4. Margaret Vardy is definitely NOT Scottish. Just because we are known to like our curries, chips and beer doesn't mean every big woman is Scottish!!!
  5. waited a few days before posting, still disappointed. After hearing Gerry facenna's rallying speech I thought we're gonna do this. Then 60 seconds later it was all over! so well done to Moanrchs. However, disappointed that some think monarchs took there foot of the gas. if that was the case why bring in Branford for Garcia, why did cook burst a gut trying to pass Nick in heat 15 before knocking him of even though they would have won the match if he'd stayed in 3rd. Got to mention the Svein Kaasa ceremony brilliantly done and the crowd were superb with the minutes applause - the crowd must have been the biggest ever - it was difficult to walk round the stadium and the stand was full. finally well done to the dj for playing we are the champions when the monarchs were showing the trophy to there fans, some tracks don't even allow a lap of honour when the away team wins. Looking forward to next Sunday and hopefully we qualify for next stage of play-offs.
  6. Dear o dear o dear. Glasgow did not spend a fortune trying to buy a trophy - we have a nice local company called Belt-Up (how apt) trophies that supply them on a weekly basis - its called sponsorship. However, the owners did spend a fortune on buying and refurbishing the stadium including the land as well as 'purchasing' the speedway team - its called investment. we kindly loan you Anders Thomsen - its called assisting less fortunate clubs. if yo want to see why we want to meet Edinburgh again (don't think we will) look at the photos on the Glasgow web site - its called a crowd, a very big crowd
  7. Sarjeant has reached his level - your having a laugh. its his first full season in the premier league for goodness sake, new tracks, set ups etc We need a strong no1 who do you have in mind - tai woffinden!!!!!. this year the only riders with a higher average than Richard are Simon stead who lasted 6 matches, craig cook, Danny King, Ed Kennet, Josh, masters and Wolbert (I'm sure we'd love him back) . oh and by the way Aaron is currently 12th in the averages. So we keep Richard and Aaron - I totally agree with you there - how would you fit in a guy with a higher average. I wonder were you the guy that booed Steve Lawson at Exeter cos he didn't get double figures despite finishing top of the averages!
  8. No it doesnae. Garcia + Branford (extra ride if needed) will score what Clegg would have scored
  9. Seems everyone's waiting for the result of the 1st leg before predicting a monarchs win. King Jamie has the right idea liked his post on the Edinburgh v Glasgow topic
  10. https://www.facebook.com/glasgowtigersspeedway The PR team seem to know what they are doing; other promoters take note
  11. How much is the programme? if they put the price up I'm not going
  12. Was surprised there isn't a Edinburgh v Glasgow thread and then find its hidden amongst this one. seems totally logical
  13. There appeared to have been joined up thinking with the season ticket offer earlier this season but this for some reason was withdrawn by Edinburgh although I read that Glasgow kept there promise
  14. George is right. I started wondering about the crowds when a video appeared on the club website saying we needed 1200 just to break even and the facennas said we needed more people on a regular basis. so one night I sat down and counted the crowd for 2 of our meetings based on the many photos that appear on web sites etc and on a night I thought we'd had a good crowd I counted 980 people, a night when I thought it was no bad 760 people. I know its not 100percent accurate but its clear to me we're not averaging 1200+ as suggested by MD. we've lost a lot of space in the front terracing with the need for a clear passageway and a lot of the 1st bend terracing has been lost with the erection of the Tigers Den. its a cup final for goodness sake against our biggest rivals who've also put their prices up; at least we have decent facilities!
  15. As everyone says this was not entertainment as we know it. To be fair the track was difficult to begin with due to the weather and its probably the first time that some of the Rye guests have ever seen dirt as they are normally in the 2nd half when tracks have slickened off. Just hope it hasn't put off newcomers/returnees as the Glasgow promotion continue to try and 'promote' the sport Anyway we coiuld look on the bright side if the meeting had been postponed it could have been re-scheduled AFTER the play-offs.
  16. people on this and other forums complain about the woes of speedway- to many guests, rider replacement doesn't always work and anyway causes delays to meetings, why don't promoters promote and sell the sport, the season should build up to a climax not be a damp squib, etc etc. And yet we have some people on here suggesting lets put on a cup final 1st leg at a weeks notice when both teams will need r/r and maybe a guest
  17. Its nice to see fans from both sides come on here and say what a great meeting it was; no bad luck stories; no what ifs; no the refs a homer, etc. its a pity not all fans are like that. From aglasgow point of view brilliant effort by the team but just not enough for the points. So we should finish third and that means two extra meetings to fit in, the next few weeks should be fun
  18. Would like to think we'll do well but think we shall lose; worky are good at home. can't help thinking with 4 riders doubling up plus there guest bookings that men and machine are getting tired, look at aaron last night. Must be difficult to juggle bookings and getting your engines serviced etc especially for young james who presumably won't be on the same points money as Nick, Richard and Aron. Add in the vendetta by refs on james and no wonder his confidence appears to be low. Just hope everyone returns safe and fit for the play-offs and cup final.
  19. I take it you mean our meeting against Rye House on 13th. any idea why and will they be allowed a guest.
  20. Well done diamonds; you rode sensibly at Glasgow, kept things tight and were rewarded by winning on aggregate. Hope the Glasgow fans added to your clubs finances - 2 full coaches and a good few cars, god its like the 70s all over again and the same result
  21. C'mon George, don't be cruel. we Al know that this is the 'year of the cat'
  22. I was just wondering is it ok to mention the Glasgow v Newcastle fixture on this thread. Glasgow deserved to win the meeting and in normal circumstances even the highly critical fans would be happy but in a 2 leg affair we sadly missed Vikter and Nemo. With normal temperature resumed the track held up well despite the early start with lots of fast times and a track record. although many fans like the 2 meetings in one day I've never been a fan. to many things can go wrong and also hosting the 1st leg puts more pressure on the riders and referee to get things finished quickly and with using r/r there is not much time to tweak set-ups change gearings etc. Hopefully everyone will be fit for Workington away and Rye House at home.
  23. Having sat back and read various comments, I may be in the minority but still can't believe Glasgow lost. Nick's crash followed by Richard's exclusion were the key moments. On the bright side we are highly unlikely to get another sunny, warm, windy day this year so the dusty/slick track shouldn't be a problem for forthcoming matches. and just to say the track was absolutely soaked prior to racing so don't think they could have put on anymore .
