I've never understood why Nigel always mentions the guests and other teams the riders ride for when commentating. It doesn't add to the entertainment but does make the sport look silly and most fans already know this, no need to tell the general public

This is still being discussed on Facebook. Keep checking the date thinking it must be 1st April. Apparently there will be a big announcement later this year

From where I was watching I thought pickering accidentally took out jack and so there was nothing he could do -
Perhaps phil rising could respond. But don't think Neil macfarlane does hoaxes What I'm concerned about is does speedway need another individual competition

Copied from a Facebook post: Following is a press release sent to the Speedway Star 3 weeks ago. They have decided not to publish the release, which of course is their prerogative, so I am reproducing the article in full here and now. Please everybody feel free to post on as many Speedway Sites worldwide. ( John Houston) as possible to spread the word. A worldwide TV audience will see the official launch of World Elite Speedway in October 2017, In an attempt to clarify the situation and stop malicious rumours and ill informed guess work by certain sections of the Speedway media. World Elite Speedway have issued the following statement. "World Elite Speedway is being set up to take Speedway to new audiences worldwide. The concept is the brainchild of Ducati Moto GP supremo Toni Franchitti. Broadly speaking the series will be staged at locations close to the Moto GP circuits worldwide. Toni who is a very successful Italian businessman has appointed his daughter BIANCA and former Scottish Speedway legend NEIL MACFARLANE as joint Chief Executive Officers. Neil said that Toni has always had a passion for two wheeled motor sports and when he approached me to help run the project I had no hesitation in accepting the challenge. The riders will come from the top echelon of world speedway whom are available to sign lucrative contracts before the end of this year. Planning is at an advanced stage with top Speedway personnel from Hungary, Poland, America as well as the United Kingdom already on board. All officials already committed to the project have a wealth of experience from riding at the top level, through team management and promoting, including FIM events. WES executives have already had meetings with the FIM to discuss the project and more meetings are planned in the near future" There you have it guys and gals, that should help to clarify the situation and stop ill informed guesswork.

Compare Holder to nick morris. Nick had committed to the 4s despite the fact that his Polish team was riding. When he was told Berwick were out of the 4s he contacted his Polish team and told them he was now available to ride. Nick recognised his duty to represent his UK club, holder didn't. We need more riders like nick, holder should get a ban and Rathbone should also be fined or at least forfeit his share of any profit from the event Someone should tell Stuart dickson and the official Tigers Facebook page cos they have him as not riding

Bit harsh. Could easily have said the bottom end of the team has exceeded expectations on a number of occasions. Can't understand fans that seem to think that there riders should be able to perform at there best every time and no matter where they ride. One defeat at home and still in the play offs yea what a terrible position to be in -

The reason for Richards poor score last night for Glasgow is that he was involved in a bad incident in heat 1. He was battered and bruised and his bike was mangled. May be you could dig into your bike fund and help him out? -

Another example of a crazy rule hampering a promoter putting out a competive team -
If dan is missing then jack will be missing as well

don't know why some posters are saying saturdays aren't working. i've enjoyed them a lot more than the sundays- racings been better, track easier to prepare? crowd up for it, having a few beers better atmosphere, The fixtures could have been compiled better but the real problem is riders riding for more than one team both here and abroad. As has been said in lots of threads on here, we need to get back to weekly speedway and teams that had the original fixture rained off should be obliged to come to us on a blank Saturday otherwise what the point of having blank dates in the fixtures to accommodate rain offs!
-
The 4s are on a Sunday we are meant to ride on a Saturday night so there is no clash and no need to miss a weekend

If done properly it works. The promotion trusted existing fans to only give the tickets to new or lapsed fans. They have gone public to thank the fans after the first meeting which had c2000 fans 1100 paying; 840 free. Lots of food, drink was sold plus souveniers etc. I would guess they took in at least £4000 that they wouldn't have got if not for the one-off freebie. -
