Eastbourne v Glasgow Semi Final
SharpenRake replied to Hunters's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Thing is Richard likes us and the Glasgow fans love him and he would really like to be riding on a speedway track but currently needs must, just saying. Now if Cookie gets a ban and with our millions hey its not rocket science -

look its time we all went back to work. So to try and make it clear I have at no stage said that Craig Cook wasn't out of order and perhaps he will be findd, banned, lose his job, quit speedway , who knows. BUT things happen for a reason and reading all the posts on here and elsewhere and especially from Glasgow fans at the meeting others are NOT blameless and that needs to be taken into account as well. Good evening and once again well done to the Eatbourne eagles riders. -

Where have I said it was all Eastbourne's doing. I said that the Glasgow promotion will have learned a lot and that there way of promoting and organising a speedway meeting will not necessarily be the approach adopted by others. And that this includes the need to ensure that in future riders are not intimidated or got at by the actions and behaviour of opposition promoters, staff and fans. -

And everyone else walks away scot free (see what I did there). How about announcer being fined. Jon Cook losing his licence, the track staff member ejected from the stadium given a life ban. -

Certainly a post from Mike Butler above makes reference to the announcer - see below -

What a load of tosh. What the Tigers management will have learned is what a good track preparation team they have, what a good professional announcer they have, what a good set of fans they have who applaud opposing riders for there efforts. The Tigers reputation is earned by the product they put on at Ashfield - riders, staff, volunteers and fans. The team have tried to entertain on there travels on a variety of tracks, surfaces and shapes. We lost tonight - most Glasgow fans predicted it including myself - so well done to the Eastbourne riders and I stress the riders. Reading various posts the promoter, track staff and announcer don't appear to be blameless and some of the eagles fans should be ashamed of themselves. Tonight the Tigers management also learned another approach to speedway as they were up against an old hand in the promotion game - he made sure that the track, the track staff and the fans got into Tigers riders heads. So the owners will have also learned who coped with the aggravation and intimidation and who didn't. They should now ensure that the riders be made aware that these things happen and other teams will produce crap tracks and all the other things that can influence a result and learn to stay focussed and deal with it. -

Looking at updates seems eagles have doctored the track and Glasgow not happy. According to John Cook the track s OK and bowtell and Edwards have been practicing all day and they think it's fine. Thats OK then, they after all are experienced riders especially Alfie who's proved to be a safe sensible rider. -

Tigers are weaker than the last time. Starke missing due to injury and his score last time won't be met by r/r. Connor Coles scored well and we can't expect our young aussie prospect to score the same. And as for James being replaced that won't mean Mikkel will score more as I assume he hasn't even seen the place before. Can't see anything but a home win by at least 10. -

Bears had a great chance to turn us over. MBA making his debut scoring 1 from 5, r/r for Paul only getting 4 and a fall from Cookie. So great effort from the boys to win the match. As MD says good enthusiastic crowd and great to see so many kids. And again good fast racing from both teams, can't wait for next Friday. -

Does anyone else think Jenga has hacked Loose Diamonds account. -
Your making a basic mistake. All these decisions will have been made at least by last weekend. And in your case better pr to say 2 riders have quit and we've had to let one go than say we've sacked 3 so we can get Nick in. Note that the one they sacked was able to find a new track within hours. Again good pr, at least the rider can still earn money etc. More importantly glad the changes worked for you last night. Hope our change works for us tomorrow against Redcar.

See we do love the moanarchs, trying our best to help. First Victor and now James and don't worry about any rumours that James will drop his average so he can come back to us. That sort of thing would never happen in speedway at least that's what Kevin told me

Spot on. The trouble is in speedway you get criticised for investing money! The Facennas at Glasgow recognised that the existing stadium and track wouldn't attract any more than the 400 diehards , if you were lucky, that were attending when they took over. They invested heavily in the stadium and every year have improved the track - safety fence, shape - and general facilities, the latest being a big screen. Yet they get criticised for being 'rich'. Anyone that wants to see if it has worked just look at the videos for Heat 15 from the last 2 meetings on their web site or facebook page. Brilliant racing and an enthusiastic crowd going mental.

So you accept that such incidents are just sour grapes or excuses by the losing team yet you still have a dig.
