Cook, Vissing and Kennett banned.
SharpenRake replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Agreed. Cook pushed the marshall away as I think most people would have done in his situation. The marshall exited the scene. at that point the incident was over or at least should have been. But a host of Eastbourne people - the dugards, track staff, security guards and riders - all confronted Cook and Vissing and the fracas ensued. -

Quote from SCB statement: Over the last 2 weeks, the SCB Co Ordinator has requested witness statements from a number of licenced officials who were in attendance at the Eastbourne v Glasgow fixture on Saturday 3rd August, and also has reviewed video evidence from the scenes that happened prior to that fixture. The 3rd of August was 8 days ago. Mr Vatcher's time sheets must make interesting reading -
Met Office forecast for Berwick-upon-Tweed looks promising. After Eastbourne it will be nice to visit a friendly venue whose team will be hard but fair. Be interesting to see how our new Danes do. And please no more injuries for either team. Forecast a win for the bandits but may be we'll be worth a point.

I'm glad you think that the Glasgow fans were fine if being glad to get out off the place counts as fine. There comments were posted on a tigers fans page and certainly don't paint a pretty picture. Your last paragraph does not make sense unless you remove 'seemingly'. However whilst it would make grammatical sense it would be factually incorrect. -

I'm not sure what you're saying but the thrust seems to be if you are of a non Glasgow persuasion it is OK to react or even over react whether it is justified or not. If you are of a Glasgow persuasion you should just stand back take all the intimidation, verbal abuse, be pushed and shoved, threatened and punched. Wasn't aware that JC rode for us and we all know what happened to him. -

What actions were taken by the club/rider? In Glasgow's case 3 riders mistakenly (I assume they were advised of the procedures - they are totally different from Glasgow's) rode off before they should have. Red lights (allegedly) are put on, riders have 2 options, go back to an area that is apparently teeming with children, staff etc etc or ride around away from the 'danger area' to the pits. The 3 riders are clearly travelling slowly and headed towards a pit gate when the marshall becomes involved. The marshall having created the problem then walks away and lets other Eastbourne people including Eastbourne riders create a riot. How were the Glasgow management meant to stop a riot? Was Michael Max expected to walk up to the Eastbourne staff/ riders and say 'look could you stop this please, this sort of thing isn't very nice?' -

Very admirable and I'm sure you would therefore agree that the actions of the Eastbourne staff riders hangers on were totally out of order following the Cook/marshall incident? -

I believe from reading comments from other fora from fans that were there, that Peter Facenna apologised for any part that they played BUT didn't take full responsibility for everything that happened and having seen the video you can understand why. And as I also said earlier Peter Facenna is a polite chap. -

Extra work was done which suggests the referee had sympathy for the Glasgow riders concerns -

Mr Weston. Have you never been in a situation where someone barges past you or perhaps been standing patiently in a queue when someone moves in front of you or perhaps someone has cut in front of you whilst out driving? And have you never got annoyed, perhaps pushed them back or.... I'm sure you get the idea. Now think how would you react if someone is moving in front of you and you were on a bike with no brakes albeit going slowly. Even you would surely get a bit annoyed and push him away and as both hands are on the handle bars you would use your shoulder. He may not have acted professionally in your eyes but to me he did what any normal person would have done. Yours Sharp -

Having now had sight of the longer video allied to observations of others present, it is clear that what ultimately happened was down to Eastbourne staff and hangers on confronting and then attacking Cook. -

I know I just couldn't help myself. Your last post was almost sensible and I thought I can't have that so I'll post something really stupid to see who might respond and so far it appears you have another relative or two, this time in the south. -

OK I just wanted to get a reaction and I'm disappointed that only you responded. However yet another person who is incapable of reading posts. For a start I am not looser more stiff than loose. But you probably meant loser and if you read my posts no one from Glasgow thought they would qualify but then no one thought they would be treated the way they were from the moment they arrived until they left. -

1) you are choosing to ignore the concerns expressed by Glasgow fans who I repeat said they were glad to get out in one piece. Quite frankly what you or I have experienced in the past are of no consequence. 2) just because someone doesn't fall off and doesn't get badly injured doesn't mean a track is safe. You will drive to work over a road full of pot holes but it doesn't mean there's nothing wrong with the road. 3) what has your assessment ofCraig and Michael's history, whether accurate or not, go to do with it. I, and as others have already said, could say Eastbourne has a history of intimidation going back to the days of Bobby Dugard. As for Glasgow trying to intimidate Eastbourne that is ludicrous. As I keep repeating Glasgow were never going to qualify after the result of the first leg and Paul's injury. We just wanted to turn up, try our best and get back home safely for the rest of the season. -

The simplest thing would be for the SCB to declare the result null and void and instruct that it be re-run at a neutral track. Belle Vue would be a sensible alternative venue as it is roughly 200+miles from both tracks. -

Excuse me. What is it about some people, they seem to be unable to read and interpret the written word and they seem to think they are right even when the evidence shows they are wrong. Where did I say a deliberate attempt by fans to whip up opposition riders? And how can you dismiss a group of Glasgow fans concerns as being utter rubbish when they felt strongly enough to post there feelings on a Facebook site. This isn't about who won, Glasgow lost the tie in the first leg and with Paul's subsequent injury. This is about the deliberate and successful attempts by those who should know better to wind up and intimidate opposition riders which is totally out of order. -

Now that most fair minded people seem to agree with what happened at the cook/track marshal incident we have also the subsequent brawl apparently instigated by others over reacting to the cook incident which appears to have been forgotten. The brawl clearly whipped up the Eastbourne fans and as reported by a family on a tigers fans Facebook page the riders were subject to much verbal abuse and the family also said they were glad to get out in one piece. We also have the track concerns caused probably by riders practising beforehand. Followed by comments by Jon Cook and the announcer. So as I have said previously it looks like there was a deliberate attempt to wind up opposition riders. Surely something has to be done to prevent this happening again yet for some reason a lot of the hang cookie haters are surprisingly silent. -

How can Cook be charged with being responsible for the brawl. He reacted to what the steward did, yes I agree. But surely what then happened is a result of those that over reacted to what they perceived as being a deliberate act, which it wasn't. As I suggested in an earlier post Eastbourne officials and volunteers and spectators are not blameless in what was a successful attempt to wind up and intimidate Glasgow riders and fans. -

For those that are still saying what they saw etc this looks like the definitive version of what happened at the parade. One additional question did the Eastbourne promotion advise the Glasgow team manager what was required of the Glasgow riders and the procedures used at Eastbourne for the parade? -

I think I'll leave it there, just with all the mixed reporting from various sources and the apparent wish to hang draw and quarter Cookie I was falling into legalistic mode. Edited to say I'm not saying Cookie is blameless but am trying to understand what happened factually and what led up to it and why. -

It isn't a criticism of you but you responded 'I imagine' it was the Glasgow mechanics. You were there and you are now confirming you don't actually know for certain but are basically assuming it must have been them.
