  1. if we can't race at Ashfield cos of the weather perhaps we could have tried Workington but then remembered Workington's Toy8tory
  2. The trouble is today was meant to be quite good in the afternoon BUT it poured down causing horrendous driving conditions. Don't know what impact it has had on the track but up until then I was optimistic, assuming the favourable forecasts were accurate. Just going to have to wait and see.
  3. Exactly you got fined for not completing your league fixtures. Both Poole and Glasgow have completed their league fixtures.
  4. Thank you for buying the stream and am pleased you thought the track and racing was good. The efforts of the track staff and volunteers to get this meeting on were unbelievable. Regarding the lights they are ok for those riding and those viewing at the track. Filming always makes things look darker and quite frankly we shouldn't be racing in October so presumably the costs of further upgrading the lights on the off chance that a meeting occurs AND is filmed in October wouldn't be cost-effective. Re-the delays I'm surprised by your comments as you actually watched the stream unlike others who just like to criticise. It may be that some of the info relayed to the crowd via the announcer wasn't repeated by the commentators, so here goes: Heat 4 bad crash resulting in exclusion of Miskowiak and eventual withdrawal from meeting. Heat 6 both GB riders fall, race stopped and re-run with the 2 remaining Poles. Heat 9 delay as doctor assesses Miskowiak, plus member of crowd takes ill and is seen by para medic/first aiders. Also discussions between ref and clerk of the course re-decision of Polish TM as to whether Miskowiak would be replaced by the other U-21 rider in this race. Heat 10 scary crash by Chris Harris, race stopped and re-run. Heat 11 slight delay as Poland forced, under rules, to only go with one rider (see Heat 9). Heat 13 unfortunate delay as Team Managers work out riders for the remaining 3 heats. Under the rules Heat 15 would feature the two top scorers from both teams. In the case of GB this meant Bewley and Lambert or Harris - so not clear cut. In the case of Poland this meant Zmarzlik and Musielak or Janowski - also not clear cut. The remaining riders would then be selected for Heat 13 and 14 with the added issue of what happens to Miskowiak's 'ride' - presumably Lampart? And presumably both team managers were waiting to see what the other would do, after all both teams could still win! All the ref could do was constantly ask the Clerk of the Course to contact him and he did. I suppose he could have put the 2 minute warning on and excluded 'riders' under the 2 minute rule but he like everyone else wanted to see racing not exclusions! Meanwhile whilst all this was happening the rain started and we'll never know who was selected for Heats 14 and 15, unless someone who was in the pits can advise. I was hoping for a SoN rematch in a last heat decider, that would have been something else, but we'll never know.
  5. And he's a brilliant gater which will only help his scoring at Shielfield.
  6. I meant Marcin's bike failure probably cost us a point and it could be crucial this evening.
  7. That explains everything. Clearly it's the Sellafield 'effect'
  8. Thing is, Cookie is clearly not well and he is our talisman. When he goes out and wins heat one passing the oppositions number 1 it seems to galvanise the rest of the team. Just hope he's taking it easy with a few lemsips to ward off the dreaded lurgie.
  9. Can't use a guest from another team involved in the play offs. Edit just read other post.
  10. I thought it meant "hates tory' due to the lack of jobs in nw England etc and wondered whats that got to do with speedway
  11. Still don't believe it, great result and great performance from all seven tigers. Special mention for the track staff who managed to produce two raceable surfaces over the last two nights despite the weather. Still worried about tomorrow and just hope Marcin's engine failure in heat 14 isn't costly.
  12. I'm struggling to see why some fans (and professionals) appear to be upset about tomorrow night's meeting at Armadale and the Glasgow line-up, particularly those that think the Tigers are at it. It is good that both teams reached the KO Cup semis and the Play-off semis. Through no fault of there own dates were proving difficult, all going back to the Birmingham debacle as others have mentioned. However, it looked as if things were progressing nicely with the Play-off 1st leg due at Armadale last Friday and Tigers suggesting tonight for the 2nd leg. If we had suggested our normal Friday night, Marcin wouldn't have been available due to his forthcoming marriage. This meant no need for guests and also Edinburgh would have been able to use their normal Friday night to play Poole in the KO Cup - common sense prevails. Note to conspiracy theorists Marcin was not getting married last Saturday and would have been in the team on the Friday! However, this all changed when Edinburgh called off their leg of the play-offs due to the weather. Again in the interests of the sport we agreed to host the 1st leg, even though we were entitled to have the 2nd leg and also go to Armadale tomorrow night for the now 2nd leg despite being without Marcin. Under the rules established by precedent we would be entitled to a guest and we have booked one whose average is actually slightly less than Marcin's. So why do some Monarchs fans think we are at it????
  13. You can't accuse Glasgow of lack of fan engagement. The riders walked across the centre green as a light show lit up the stadium and music blared. The riders were introduced individually with frequent mentions of the SoN triumph as well as all awards won by each individual rider. Each rider received a gift from the Tigers Growlers Club (youngsters) and they had their photo taken with their rider something they'll always remember. The riders of both teams then climbed on to the Tigers Support truck which did two laps of the track with riders waving and fans of both sides cheering, many of whom were wearing and waving the specially commissioned scarves. The display of the trophy would have been nice but wouldn't have added much to the evening. As others have said the only downside were the crashes, injuries and heavy rain that arrived at heat 13 robbing us off a probable last heat decider.
  14. It was announced that the doctor was assessing Miskowiak who had crashed in heat 4 to see if he was fit to continue. It turned out he wasn't so was replaced by Lampart. At the same time it was also announced a fan had taken ill and I saw a couple of medics/first aid people enter the terracing.
  15. Whatever you may think of previous meetings at Ashfield, the 'delays' this evening were purely down to racing incidents as already detailed above by the more astute members of this forum. Mr McGregor had the 2 minutes on after the finish of every race other than when a rider had 2 on the trot.
  16. This applies to everyone not just Jenga. What does it matter, you either want to watch the match live, via the stream or delayed stream, and pay the ticket price or you don't. If you do, great and I hope you enjoy it. If you don't, fine, just stop complaining.
  17. That's a pity, does that mean you won't be able to watch it for free?
  18. What if they offered you £15 to watch it? Of course they would need your bank details.
  19. Just to say that the trains will be running as normal tomorrow from Glasgow Queen Street (upper level) to Ashfield (ironically the planned strike for today was cancelled)
  20. Firstly, I assume you mean Craig Cook but you don't have the gonads to say so. Secondly, GP superstar and many misdemeanours? When has Craig Cook claimed to be a superstar and when has he let down GB when competing for or representing them? As usual, lets make up a story based on prejudice and stupidity! If you were in anyway genuinely interested you would have been able to discover that the GB management, as in previous years, asked riders who wanted to compete in Grand Prix qualifiers, ride abroad, etc, etc, for season 2021. Some riders like Chris Harris said he'd be willing, Craig Cook decided his days of travelling abroad were over as he wanted more time with his family. A squad of riders were selected including U21s to ride for and represent GB. It is only right and fair that the riders named in the GB squad should be selected. Craig is better around Glasgow than Adam Ellis and Chris Harris but it would be unfair to ask squad members to forego their place, this is assuming that Craig would even want to do it, which I doubt.
  21. The weather forecast has been different every day for the last 7 days and at one point was getting better but as you say the current one isn't looking good. Then again we waited until lunchtime one Friday but ultimately felt obliged to cancel a match due to a horrendous forecast and it proved to be totally wrong. I believe covers will be used and they will do everything to get it on.
  22. Yes look at the time. I'm off for a kip. Are you at work, well done. Didn't know circuses were hiring . I suppose they must be desperate, after Brexit.
