Glasgow Vs Edinburgh 01st May 6pm
SharpenRake replied to Jaizer's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Kye Thomson looked good last year and James should do OK provided the ref ignores his reputation and realises that he does occasionally make a fair start. Hopefully Ulrich has got his new engine and all goes well. If so 51-39 to the Tigers. Not so sure about Armadale. -

For the benefit of everyone. Benjamin is Danish, he rides in the Danish league on Wednesdays, Danish riders have to fulfil their commitments to their Danish team, Poole race on a Wednesday night because that is the best night for them from a fan/commercial point of view, so not practical for him to ride for Poole, Poole wanted Richard Lawson, to make things simple Glasgow agreed to swap Richard for Benjamin. Benjamin has moved from one club that pays its riders on time to another club that pays its riders on time. Richard is a recognised championship No.1, Benjamin isn't, albeit a good prospect. So in some ways Glasgow were taking a risk but team building wise it suited them so everyone was happy. Ok -

What an excellent night's entertainment. Berwick riders never gave up and the Tigers didn't have any weak links. And as for young Connor Bailey simply brilliant. -

Sadly the Lions will win this. Despite some excellent scores on his return from serious injury, Ulrich has admitted he is struggling for speed. So think something like 50-40. -

It's a beautiful day in Glasgow so well worth the trip for Berwick fans. -
Connor is well liked at Glasgow. He's a decent young man, he's attracted lots of sponsors because he puts in the effort and clearly appreciates the support he has been given. He's also a brilliant young prospect with loads of ability. If he stays injury free, I'd say the sky's the limit and he'll ultimately make the GPs.

Just to say well done to the Glasgow riders. Everyone said it would be a comfortable win but they still had to go out and perform on the track and they did. Felt sorry for Paul Starke who had bike problems whilst Clegg, Wethers and Wright showed some fight and Complin will come good once he gets match fit, he's still got a thrilling way of riding. Felt the Newcastle manager could have used him better. Find a no.1 and add someone like Sedgmen and you'll become a lot more competitive. Well done to Glasgow, good crowd and hopefully all back for more on Friday.

Opening fixtures normally attract big crowds. Matches against Northern teams normally attract visiting fans desperate to see their team in action. Yet for some reason this match has been chosen to be one of Glasgow's streamed meetings. This is likely to result in few if any diamonds fans making the journey north which would be a shame as they are a good lot, normally. Surely a meeting between the Tigers and Poole or Plymouth for example is the type of meeting that should be streamed. Anyway a comfortable home win for the Tigers is the prediction with very few viewers watching the stream.

There's been some criticism of the new team kevlars on other tigers web pages and I have to say the design has perhaps been influenced by the wish to market a supporters type t-shirt that replicates the teams race suit. Whilst the small tigers badge will look fine on a t-shirt, just like football replica shirts it seems to me it will be hidden when riders put on their neck braces. But at least the red and white stripes on the back have been retained and the suit is better than some of the recent past, at least I think so.

Read they were looking for volunteer camera operators so perhaps they did think about doing it in-house but no one volunteered?

Surprised Kyle Bickley wasn't seeded

Totally agree. What I also don't get is that BWD appears to have slept with Adam's wife yet he is the one having a go at Adam. -
I'm sure the Glasgow promotion would sell you a book of ten.
-
That's a pity we were all looking forward to meeting you at Glasgow.

Strange one this. I remember the good old days when tigers fans would have a go at Blobby but 5 days after his post and no ones bothered. It's as if people think his views are insignificant, shame that.

I think it's fair to say that most Glasgow fans don't think we'll win the league. However we do think we are in for a fantastic season of exciting speedway. Last year we wondered whether Ulle, Ricky and Justin would do the business or would they play safe and settle for the position they were in after the 2nd bend. Ulle was unbelievable and refused to believe he was beaten. Ricky and Justin were predictable. Sam Jensen was spectacular when the track was grippy and I hope he is not lost to speedway in the UK. However their replacements Tom, Benjamin and Danyon are committed exciting young riders who will more than replace the outgoing trio. Add in the quality of our track staff and a brilliant track, which has been praised by many other riders and officials, and you can see why Glasgow fans are looking forward to a season of brilliant racing 'out of the top drawer'.

A few well respected pundits north of the border plus some Edinburgh fans would have liked to see Drew stay with the Monarchs, so you may be surprised.
-
I assume you mean he left so that he would have more meetings and therefore the potential to earn more money. I would have thought that a smooth wide track where you can race hard for 4 laps would have also been part of his thinking. But yes totally agree with your sentiments re-some Poole fans.

I see my answer confused Diamonds85 so I'll make it even simpler No it doesn't round up to 4.89 and yes you are way off.

No and then yes.
