  1. The Comets will take their place in the SGB Championship in 2017 as confirmed tonight. A statement will be issued over the weekend.
  2. It's the last weekend in October. The makeup of the leagues will be a significant factor in if we run in 2017 which is why a decision will not be made until after then.
  3. Incorrect. Riders have been paid on time every week in 2016.
  4. A major factor in the fact that Redcar can turn a profit is that they own their own stadium. They also get bar and food takings. That is why they have an interval even when it's raining - so people go in and spend money. If Workington had their own stadium, had the bar and all food takings we wouldn't be in this position.
  5. He's put it on his Facebook page Jenga. I think we will be putting something out later on.
  6. We did £10 entry for our home fixture against Newcastle a few weeks ago. It was well publicised and promoted both in social media and printed media. Although more fans did attend the revenue received was less than an average meeting. We have also given away hundreds of tickets to families at events through the year, doesn't seem to make a great deal of difference.
  7. Havvy's explanation of Heat 15 was that Jorgensen wouldn't do it as he'd hurt his arm, Andersen had blown an engine as had Busch. The reserves weren't eligible. Bit of a farce really.
  8. Heavy rain in Workington since 7:50pm, meeting would have started but wouldn't have finished. Took its time but I believe it remains the right call. Looking at restaging sooner rather than later so the competition can get finished. Will hopefully announce the date on Monday.
  9. As heavy rain is forecast from 10am right through to 11pm we have made the decision to call OFF tonight's meeting against Glasgow to save riders and fans travelling.
  10. Laura has never in her time in charge complained about crowd numbers but last week really got to her unfortunately. Seeing such a dip in numbers following our first home defeat in the league in 25 months left a sour taste. She doesn't have a bottomless pit of money but she loves her Comets so it is genuinely a head versus heart decision for her.
  11. He fell in his second ride on Friday, made it worse on Saturday. http://www.workingtoncomets.co/news/article.asp?id=100708
  12. We have meetings on the 17th, 24th and 1st. We also still need to arrange the Ian Thomas Shield against Newcastle
  13. The online ticket sales aren't available this season, was costing too much for little usage. The fixture against Glasgow on Sat will be the only one, Somerset won't be coming. We are close to be able confirming the rearrangement for that. And yes Redcar couldn't bring a full team on a Saturday until the 1st Oct. If we are still in contention for the play offs come next Monday morning this fixture will be rearranged for an off race night before the cut off date.
  14. Both Tony and Steve are unavailable so John has very kindly stepped in to help us out.
  15. Both sides go into this meeting missing riders who are racing in the SEC Pairs Final in Latvia so both teams are using National League riders in the number 4 position Comets - Wells, Campton, Hansen, Blacklock, Vissing, Roynon, Williamson Witches - King, Sarjeant, Barker, Priest, Risager, Jacobs, Hume
  16. I will be doing twitter updates Elliot on @CometsUpdates which you are welcome to use.
  17. For me personally our crunch fixture will be Peterborough away in Sept, if (and it's a very big if) we could win there it would swing that final position in our favour. As we proved in the Fours we have riders who ride the Showground very well and with Adam at reserve I think we stand a chance. We have to click at some point away from home, it really is like chalk and cheese for the Comets and we are all left scratching our heads wondering why.
  18. You can get to the grandstand through any of the turnstiles, there is no extra charge for it. There are 2 turnstiles near the grandstand or 2 onto turns 1&2. The stadium parking is £1.50 and there is parking around by Tesco on the grass or side street. We were fortunate enough to fill the car park last week with 25 mins to go so hopefully it will be just as busy again!
  19. That's correct damosuzuki This is how it stands now Somerset +13 Glasgow +9 Peterborough +9 Edinburgh +8 Newcastle +7 Sheffield +6 Workington +2 Plymouth -2 Berwick -3 Ipswich -3 Redcar -8 Scunthorpe -9 Rye House -9
  20. Hopefully Sunday's big crowd will return, it is £10 for adults and £1 for children.
  21. These meetings are usually pretty close and I'm sure this will be no exception as both sides look to push for the play off places. Comets - Wells, Campton, Hansen, Jensen, Vissing, Roynon, Williamson Diamonds - Lambert, Palovaara, Kus, Lindgren, Worrall, Rose, Phillips
  22. Thank you for pointing that out, now corrected.
  23. This is based on Barrow Boy's league table of previous seasons where points dropped at home are a negative and points gained away from home are a positive. I think it gives a more accurate view of the table due to the lopsidedness of the real table with teams having varying amounts of meetings. 1 Somerset +10 2 Sheffield +9 3 Edinburgh +8 4 Newcastle +7 5 Peterborough +5 6 Glasgow +4 7 Workington +2 8 Berwick 0 9 Plymouth -2 10 Ipswich -3 11 Rye House -6 12 Scunthorpe -9 13 Redcar -9
