Ipswich V Peterborough Ch 24-8-17 @7-30
JamesB replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
A really average meeting apart from heat 15. As has been said by a previous poster, I am not quite sure how the Panthers ended up with 41 as they really were pretty average. Not quite sure how JCF thinks Holder was beaten by home track advantage as in his first two outings he gated and was then passed easily by Schlein and King and beaten by a distance. -

Hope Kyle's injury is not serious, however I was impressed with Campton last week at Foxhall so hopefully he will be decent cover. It's going to be a long night with both sides operating r/r and even longer if Sarjeant repeats his gating performance of last week. -
Workington V Ipswich 19/8/17
JamesB replied to RedcarB123's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Wow. I thought we would struggle to get a point, but to win by 12 away from home is an excellent result. Great to see that Connor won heat 14, that lad deserves a lot of credit for knuckling down and improving week on week. -

It's been raining very heavily 6 miles north of Ipswich for the past half an hour. Hopefully, this misses Foxhall. -

Looks like Berwick will need to find an alternative for Hopwood. Fell in his first ride tonight and then withdrawn. -

Sue - Happy to help. I tried to PM you, but it says you cannot receive any more messages. Let me know if you need me to do the updates tonight. -
Thanks. He must already be pencilled in for 2018. Am I correct in thinking that he would still be on a 2.0? If yes, then that would be a real bonus as he would probably have achieved circa 5 this year had he stayed injury free.

When interviewed during the Berwick meeting, Hume said that he hoped to be back on a bike soon. Has there been any further update as I missed the Workington meeting due to holidays? Are we getting close to the management having to take a decision on whether he replaces Mountain or Greaves? I know that Mountain is trying hard and has improved a bit recently but for me he has to replace Mountain.
-
I think that's pretty unlikely. If you assume that both Ipswich and Peterborough win all their remaining home meetings then that gives 63 and 51 points respectively. That means Peterborough would need three 4 point away wins from 11 meetings to draw level and that assumes no more away points for Ipswich.

Ipswich V Scunthorpe Championship 11-5-17@7-30pm
JamesB replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The track does seem to have some grip this season but it doesn't look overly difficult. You only have to look at Greaves last night. A new reserve who hasn't ridden the track before and he seemed to have no problems. -

The meeting was ruined by Douglas' nasty looking crash. If he got away with minor concussion then he's very lucky. Hope both he and Stefan are back soon. Sedgeman looks to have worked the track out pretty quickly and Greaves had a positive first meeting but Conor remains a concern. -
Ipswich Witches Vs Glasgow Tigers Thurs 4th May C1

It was good to watch a more competitive meeting. James Shanes - what a performance. Let's hope he is up for coming in to replace Danyon. -

The BBC weather forecast seems to have deteriorated. They are now forecasting heavy rain between 1700 and 2000 rather than the previous light rain. -

The light rain has arrived at Witnesham exactly as predicted. Not serious at the moment, but a few hours of this as the forecast predicts would I imagine cause problems. Probably going to be touch and go. -
Ipswich V Peterborough April 15th 7.30pm
JamesB replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
A good win, but a pretty poor meeting. Wilson-Dean looks a good prospect and he was the only Panthers rider to turn up and give it a go. Holder scored a few, but I wouldn't have said he was really winding it on. Hope all of the knocks are not too serious and everyone recovers quickly. -
A good performance with everyone contributing, however to be fair the Bandits offered very little. The margin could actually have been bigger had it not been for Nico's blow out and Danyon making a couple of errors whilst in the points. There aren't going to be many visiting riders that beat Danny and Rory at Foxhall this year. The next two meetings away from home will give a good indicator as to how good this team could be.
-
I think that looks like a decent team in the context of the points limit available, however I have written that more than once over the past few years. If Rory can stay fit then there has to be a 1 - 1/2 point uplift there. Danny should clean up and hopefully the proposed track changes will suit Nico's around the boards style. I am not quite sure about Kyle as he has never quite reached his potential in the second tier, however I am not unduly concerned about the reserves as there will be a number of a similar standard across the teams and I think we have two of the better ones. Time will tell, so roll on March so we can start to see if expectations will be met this season.

Semi Final Ipswich V Somerset
JamesB replied to mickthemuppet's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well done Somerset. The better team and well deserved. The Witches never got going. No complaints, if you had offered me the play off semi final in early June, I would have bitten your hand off. -
The lead is a bit bigger than hoped for, however if the team maintain the recent level of performance at home it can certainly be turned around. I know Josh scored well in the league meeting but from memory, I don't think he normally does that well at Foxhall. Also, Foxhall is not Rohan's favourite track. Should be a good night.

Good to see MF back and fishing.

User incompetence! I meant to type Jacobs not Morris.

Ipswich Vs Edinburgh Pl Poq 1st Leg Thurs 22nd Sep
JamesB replied to Pob's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Tremendous performance and a much bigger lead than I thought was possible. A special nod to the referee, Mick Bates. Meeting done and dusted in 75 minutes. -
I don't have a vote as I am not a part of the Massif. However, if I did, I would need a lot of persuading to look past Danyon. He came into the side as a novice and for the first few meetings looked like he was going to fall off in every bend but he has learnt quickly and improved exponentially and has looked a very promising prospect. I know that King has been brilliant around Foxhall but away not quite so dominant, for me him and Covatti have delivered what you would expect them to. Sarjeant and Risager and to a degree Morris have probably exceeded my expectations, again primarily at home. As a footnote, you guys have done a great job in getting some atmosphere going at Foxhall. Keep it going.

I assume that r/r for Bjerre would be Cook, Thomsen, Ostergaard and a second string. You could probably hope for 6 or 7 points there and possibly more if you have a bit of luck. Why not go for it? All seems a bit strange.
