Poole Pirates Vs Berwick Bandits 18/5/22
stu219 replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
No rain about 5 miles from the track and not looking like rain either but it MIGHT rain so maybe calling it off incase is the best option lol! It could well piss it down and prove to be the correct call but if not and stays dry there will be a few turn up not knowing its been called off and be annoyed to say the least -

The problem with that prediction of thunderstorms its impossible to predict where and when they will occur. its getting a problem now when clubs call of meetings because it MIGHT rain. The promoters may well have made the correct decision but then maybe they may not have. Not sure I could run my business that way but it is what it is I guess I also understand that there is a fine line in profit and loss in crowd numbers but the problem is every single year clubs run out of time to run meetings and end up running them on a cold damp october when no one wants to attend so they end up losing money then anyway. we have had it happen at Ipswich for many years (although not last year when we got knocked out of everything early on lol) . -

So we came down for a few days break and planned to go watch the Speedway later. Called of early so I hope they have called it right or its another annoyed supporter who wont be coming back -
Why no Riss in heat 15? mistake I feel and as suspected Paul Starke being out has cost us points
-
Danyon is already riding at number 7
-
Missing Starke could mean the difference between winning and losing. He is our most underated rider by a country mile

Wolves v Ipswich Monday May 9th

Not at all. King did not win heat 12, Starke did so Danny only had 8 points. Fair call by our team manager in my view -

Bottom line is who expected Ipswich to win? me amd mate had put us down for a 10 point loss so for us was a great result. When we have all 7 riders firing we are as good as most. As with the Ipswich town FC forum when they lose the site is on fire with comments but when they win it all goes quiet. Shows most just want their team to fail maybe? -

Yes so correct. What this site does show is the amount of people in life who just want to moan. It was obvious that Doyle must have had a problem but those keyboard warriors just wanted to jump on Richie Hawkins without knowing any facts. I was very impressed with the team effort last night and shows we not a bad team when we have our full 1-7 -

Maybe the reasons that Doyle was not in heat 15 should be known before slagging of the team manager hey? You don’t mention that the switch made when Starke came in got us a 5-1. could easily have stuck with Rowe as he was doing OK. -

What’s with these fuel shortages? No problems at all here as far as I know. Maybe Norfolk different? -

Bloody hell. Season not even started and Ipswich could be without their number 1! Chris Louis has not luck assembling his teams -
They could but would have bankrupted the club!
-
Happy Xmas to all
-
yes hopefully but then who would have thought we would still be in this crap now?
-
Ah OK had not realised that. makes you wonder though why one rule for some and another for us plebs?
-
And another potential problem with riders flying in and out of the country is bloody Covid restrictions. As things stand atm no rider will be able to fly in on the day of the meeting due to having to self isolate until they get a pcr test result. Going to cause huge problems unless it changes again. Having riders based in the UK has to be safe way to go I would have thought? As those in charge of the country make the rules up day by day no-one knows what it will be like come April
-
you have been to all the meetings ike me last year. when Cook was in the mood he was near on untouchable but those days were few and far between. Many other meetings he just gave up when at the back. I don't like paying to see riders with that attitude. Having said that I know Batchelor can be the same and if he does go down that road ,then it will have been a bad signing but what I would say is that Cook will not improve his average whereas Bathchelor should do. Time will tell I guess?

one thing I have learnt is never listen to weather forecasts. I was racing at Cadwell Park last weekend and forecast was appalling. Barely a drop or rain fell the whole weekend. who would be a Speedway promoter hey? -
