  1. If they won't have Saturday meetings when there will be a clash with Grand Prix meetings does that mean one of the team will be a current GP rider? Also as a couple of meetings will be Monday nights has the deal already been done for Sky to screen them? As there is "quiet competition" for the number 1 spot will Eddie still be riding for us? Roll on Monday! And team BMR as you seem to be reading this forum please can we have somewhere at ground level where we can buy pens, boards, badges etc. we can't all manage those stairs up to the bar where they have been recently!
  2. I realise Kings Lynn and Coventry are the nearest to Rye House but from where I live in London if I now want to go to an away meeting to get to Leicester it will take me approx. 2 hours as its 108 miles and Coventry is just over the 2 hours being 121 miles, Ipswich used to take me just over an hour. Hopefully I will be able to get to a couple of away meetings though, but at the moment I am just hoping most of the Rye House meetings will be at the weekend so that I wont have to negotiate the M25 during the weekday rush hour, mind you when is there not any problems or roadworks on the M25 lately. Hopefully as you say we may get more supporters from away teams visiting Rye as some of the teams in the new league are nearer to Rye than a lot of those in the old league, just just hope the ticket prices dont rise too much - fingers crossed.
  3. Things seem to be sounding positive for the future but I do hope the majority of meetings are held at the weekend. If they want to keep crowd numbers up the promotion need to remember many people work during the week and lots of us that support Rye Rockets don't live locally and having to travel there when our journeys possibly include using the M25, M11, M1 etc during weekday rush hour wont be as easy as at the weekend. Also as our next nearest teams are Kings Lynn and Leicester they really need some away fans support not only for the gate money but for the atmosphere which adds to a good meeting.
  4. Good grief 'worse' glad I wasn't going to Rye House then, used to go regularly to West Ham but when they closed down didn't go for quite a few years due to young children and shift work although still followed results etc. Kids now all grown up and no more shift work so have been enjoying my favourite sport live again for the last few years. Just hope Rye going 'up' doesn't mean the same for entrance prices as I may have to pick and choose my meetings as I expect many others may have to as well.
  5. I would prefer to be in the SGB Championship, I liked my only local derby trip to Ipswich, but as there is now relegation between the top and bottom team we could well be back next year anyway unless the promoters can sort out a good team, perhaps they could look at some of the suggestions put forward on this forum by fans who seem to have good ideas. What I would like to know is now we are in the SGB Premiership will Sky be broadcasting from Rye House occasionally, or does the contract they hold etc. only hold good if it's called the 'Elite' league and if they do will the car park get a permanent make-over. It seems OK for us paying supporters to subject out poor little cars, not to mention our poor backs, to the bumps and potholes every week but I wonder if Sky will be inclined to subject their thousands of pounds worth of equipment to the same treatment ?
  6. Yours probably right but until I see the finish scoreline I am living in hope that I will be at Rye House watching them beat Glasgow in the final ! - I am forever an optimist
  7. We're sitting in car watching people going into stadium but it's pouring down so might go to pub instead, if rain doesnt stop soon this could be a late call off.
  8. Quite agree no team should get left out but with all the chopping and changing the BSPA seem to be doing with the rules lately surely there must be someone who could think up a format so that all teams can compete without anyone getting seeded.
  9. I'm hoping Berwick win the fours now, I was really impressed with the Berwick team after the meeting at Rye House when they all walked round the track to speak to their fans etc. that shows good team spirit and thats what I love to see in this sport, teams and fans enjoying themselves.
  10. Was going to make the trip up to Peterborough today but after reading all the comments quite glad I didn't. Hope all you speedway fans up there get a good second meeting this afternoon and also hope that the BSPA are reading all the comments made by fans at Peterborough and take serious notice of them before next year, especially re seeding through a team to the final and also riders pay. This type of meeting should be run on a fair format whether your track is hosting the event or not all teams should have to qualify for the final.
  11. I might be going to Ipswich is there a particular spot Rye supporters stand it would be good to see a few friendly faces
  12. I'm 45 minutes drive from the track and it's pouring down, anyone know what it's like at the track at the moment as I can't decide whether to stay home or make the journey?
  13. Sorry but I don't know where the original poster was standing when apparently "someone fell down on the broken plank" but we stand right where it is and saw it bending, we mentioned it straight away to a staff member and the plank was fixed over it within minutes. I agree it could be a trip hazard but we all know it's there and are being careful and we were told that as part of the stadium improvements that area will be replaced. As for the car park sorry but even last season with the attendant the parking was a "do it yourself effort" especially as the attendant went into the stadium when the meeting started and people using the pub and kart track also use it. As for the music "Those Magnificent Men" perhaps Len took it with him - thank goodness - I much prefer what's played now and from the way the team seem to be riding "as a team" and also the improved atmosphere on the terrace this year I am hopeful of better things to come.
  14. I'm sure I read somewhere this is being broadcast live on a Midlands radio station but I can't find a link can anyone help?
  15. Could it be that he really may want to follow in his dad's footsteps but as you say he really isn't up to it, surely now it's time someone sat him down and had a good chat re his Speedway ambitions ie his dad, or could it be that is where he is getting encouragement from to keep trying even though surely it is now obvious to all concerned he has made no progress at all since arriving at Rye House
  16. Quote from the Rye website tonight “And even though Peter (Karger) struggled on the track, he was there for the team and helping out wherever he could, which highlights the spirit in the camp and how hard everyone is trying". My answer to that is he may be a nice person, a team player and helping other riders in the pits etc. but if he can't get points on the track I'm sorry but in the best interests of the team he has to go. We were lucky tonight to finish within 2 points of Ipswich which should give us a good chance on Saturday to progress in the cup but our luck is not going to hold out forever and when it runs out supporters will start drifting away and I don't think anyone wants to see that happening. Team BMR I hope you are taking on board comments made on this website by paying supporters!
  17. I hope your right, it's not fair to the rest of the team who may not all score in double figures, but who at least get some points, to have a rider in the team who only gets a point when 3 riders finish the race. Perhaps Karger is trying but he is clearly not up to Premier League standard.
  18. Pretty sure the bridge at Dobbs weir is closed this weekend
  19. Thanks for that, I've had a quick look but decided my brain won't take that lot in tonight, especially as TR rides are allowed in EL only between heats 5-11 but between heats 5-12 in PL, perhaps the penalty spot in football should be moved round depending on which league you play in (lol)
  20. Well done to the team on their win tonight but could someone please tell me if tactical rides are allowed in league cup meetings as I didn't think they were and also a link to the rules would be appreciated so I can have a read myself.
  21. Could you post a link to where you read the news please as I'm unable to find it myself?
  22. Best wishes for tonight we may all support rival teams but no Speedway supporter likes to see tracks shutting down
  23. I'm feeling more optimistic now for this season after seeing tonights meeting. It's a shame that most of the crowd had left the stadium before the team went round on their 'victory walk' but I can understand why as I still haven't warmed up, hopefully it won't be so cold on Easter Monday and we can get another good result.
  24. Press and Practice tomorrow, 16th, 11am, it will be interesting to see the track changes and I assume that we may start the season on Saturday with a new track record holder if the alterations that have been made have significantly altered the track.
  25. I was looking forward to my trip to Rye House on Thursday, wonder what the "unexpected circumstances" are?
