  1. Conspiracy, no conspiracy, etc. what a shame our sport has been reduced to this. Perhaps this could have been avoided if Kings Lynn had put a link on their website to the weather forecast page that was predicting strong gales etc. as all the forecasts that I, and it would seem many others, looked at seemed OK for this meeting to go ahead. Years ago (too many to mention) before the days of mobiles, computers etc. I travelled up from London to Kings Lynn for a meeting to support my team, although the weather was looking decidedly dodgy before I even left home, we were actually in the car park about an hour prior to start time, it was pouring down and word went round the meeting was off, we didn't moan we just turned round and drove back to London. All we ask as fans is proper rules and proper decisions as we want to see our sport prosper not just fade away.
  2. KL should take a look at Leicester. As Rye fans we travelled to Leicester on Bank Holiday Monday, the meeting due to start at 2pm actually started at 3pm after extensive track work. Yesterday we we're coming to KL but after the farce that materialised we definitely won't bother with the re-scheduled meeting even if the Sun shines all the previous week. Also its about time the BSPA sorted out its rules etc only the Referee should be able to call off the meeting and I know it won't happen but KL should receive a points deduction and also be fined. The BSPA are killing this sport no wonder fans are voting with their feet and staying away.
  3. I'm a Speedway supporter Leicester is not my team but I totally agree, I feel all speedway in this Country gets hardly any advertising or media coverage and what doesn't help is years ago many teams used to be near built up areas where residents would live within walking distance but now lots of those stadiums are housing estates and also some stadiums are in remote areas (unlike Leicester) so people don't even know they exist. Advertising can be expensive but every little helps I have stickers on my car windows and when I stay in hotels and do a Trip Advisor review I always put "the hotel is close to Motorway, Railway Station etc and Leicester (or other) Speedway etc" it is not much but I feel every little helps.
  4. Quite agree, it seemed totally unintended and Ellis being excluded from the re-run was the right decision on what was a tricky track. Well done to the track staff, we chanced the trip up the motorway even though the weather wasn't looking good and really pleased that the meeting went ahead but more pleased that it was a good close meeting but we won away at last.
  5. Cheers for that. I just phoned stadium and meeting still on at present and ticket office opens at 12 so will chance it and keep fingers crossed
  6. Hi, I'm coming up from Essex any info on the car park and also what time the gates open please
  7. Rye website saying its all systems go for tonight with just light rain forecast this afternoon, I live about 45 minutes from the track and its pouring down here at present and the clouds appear to be blowing in Rye's direction, anyone closer than me to the track who has updates on the weather it would be appreciated No sooner asked about the weather and rain stops and the Suns out, let's hope it stays that way lol
  8. Thanks, with our away form todate we may need some luck
  9. Totally agree with your thoughts. I dont know all the in's and out's of how the Rob Branford situation at Rye House came about when he had to ride for Sheffield and not Rye on 8th April but I do know that us fans were told that for the rest of the season we had priority over him so I am of the opinion that he should have been riding for us on the 8th April in the first place and not Sheffield. The governing body with all these bad decisions will be the end of Speedway within the next few years unless they get their act together as they are driving fans away and without us paying through the gates every week there will be no speedway. Perhaps when a rider signs a contract for a team whether it's at the beginning of the season or part way through it should be stated in the contract who has priority over his services then if he is doubling up and there is a clash of meeting the rider himself will be in a position to say yes or no as "it's in my contract that X team has priority over my services and that is where I will be riding". It may or may not do any good but the BSPA and the SCB both have email addresses perhaps fans who feel strongly about what is going on should tell them, I don't mean a rant and rave email (but I know we all feel wound up about the situation) but an email with positive suggestions and comments in it - will they listen - I don't know but it may be worth a try.
  10. Redcar website today is saying Ellis Perks will be out for around 10 days, that would rule him out for the meeting next Friday at Somerset and the home meeting the following day, let's hope he can recover quicker than that as we really need him in the team. http://redcarbears.co/2017/05/13/news-update/
  11. I was also there and Banditsforeva is correct, the problem is the Manager, the TR should have been used at the first opportunity as nobody knows what will happen in following races.
  12. Poole website saying Kenneth Bjerre will be riding on Wednesday against Rye House
  13. Oops meant to say 10th - still hope to see them win though
  14. I was looking forward to the Coventry meeting, never mind at least its not cancelled just re-scheduled. I shall be supporting Rye at Poole on the 12th though so just hope the weather is good and the meeting doesn't get cancelled (can't wait to see Rye win )
  15. I'm thinking of coming up from Rye for this meeting but it's going to be weather permitting so I'll decide Monday morning. It's been a while since i've been to Wolverhampton and would like a bit of advice, what's the parking like, what time do the gates open and do I need to bring a chair or is there plenty of seating and is there a particular area where the away fans sit (although I don't mind sitting with Wolves fans as well as all us speedway supporters are a friendly bunch ) any help greatly appreciated, thanks.
  16. I think Rye House and Edinburgh need to get the control board to clarify the rule in writing and print the reply they get in both clubs programmes as this is causing an unwanted argument amongst speedway fans. As at present Rye have only had one rain off at Kings Lynn that will be 're arranged the rest of their fixture list are 'original fixtures' so I read the rule below as Rye have priority but if it is read as Ricky Wells original fixtures then Edinburgh appear to have priority. As I said Rye and Edinburgh need to get this clarified and quickly to save another 'Rob Branford' farce as I call it. A Rider must be released to take part in a higher priority Meeting, unless he is Doubling Up, in which case the priority for a clash of Official Meetings is as follows: - 1) The Original Fixture if there is a clash with a re-arranged Fixture
  17. The problem is Davey is not at or even anywhere near what his best in the past may have been as anyone who has seen him riding at Rye House this year can tell you. All riders have to retire at some point maybe now that time has come for Davey.
  18. Rye are a Premiership Club and as Ricky is an asset of Wolves who are also Premiership club Rye have priority. What would make more sense is to simplify the rules so that the club a rider signs for first at the beginning of the season should have priority but that would be too easy for the BSPA and SCB to actually do.
  19. Ricky Wells is a Wolves asset. Rule 16.1 page 40 of the speedway regulations explains the priority but I couldn't copy and paste it - bit rubbish with technology. Anyway if I was Steve Jenson I'd get priority all sorted in writing with the SCB before we end up with another farce like what happened with Rob Branford.
  20. Can anyone tell me what time the car park and the stadium opens please?
  21. Thanks for the advice, I take it that a Portaloo is optional and you do have some sort of loos ?
  22. Rob will be riding for Rye House, he is owned by Redcar but according to the 2nd priority (3) below, as he rode for Rye House last year we have priority. Also after last Saturdays debacle it states on the Rye website today "THE BMR Rockets have been boosted by an SCB verdict that they will have priority for the services of Rob Branford when fixture clashes arise with his SGB Championship club Sheffield. A Rider must be released to take part in a higher priority Meeting, unless he is “Doubling Up”, in which case the priority for a clash of Official Meetings is as follows: - 1) The Original Fixture if there is a clash with a re-arranged Fixture 2)1st priority to the owner of the rider 3) 2nd priority to the previous season club 4) 3rd priority to the league in which the owner club is a member. Ellis Perks is owned by Poole but he will be riding on Thursday so Rye should have their full 1 - 7 team, fingers crossed, as who knows in Speedway and I think us fans of all teams are getting a bit fed up with rules being mis-understood or ignored I'm thinking of coming from Rye on Thursday and bit of advise re stadium please would be appreciated as its years since I've visited Blunsdon. Is there any seating, do I need to bring a chair or will a cushion on a bench do, us oldies like a bit of comfort you know, especially if we are unable to stand for the whole of a meeting because of aches and pains, also whats it like for parking and is there a pub nearby where I can get a meal at a reasonable price. Any advice greatly appreciated.
  23. I know I am not alone in being disgusted by the decision re Rob last Saturday. I've just read the ruling posted on the Rye website. http://www.ryehouserockets.co /news.php?extend.1394 but win or lose I would rather it had been with our full team especially as it now appears re the SCB ruling we did actually have priority over Rob. Goody - we now have it sorted that we have priority over him in future - those fixtures lists were out weeks ago as was the 2017 rule book, I quite agree with other posters that this should have been sorted out days before the meeting NOT 2 days after. We have a Management team who with all good intentions are trying hard but if us fans can sit down and read the rules surely at the beginning of the season Managements of any team need to sit down, look at their riders who are doubling up, check out dates where there may be clashes and SORT OUT the priority before it becomes the farce that us fans had to put up with last week. The fact that Peter Schroeck said on the mike words to the effect that although Rob was riding at Sheffield "it was all good now". To us fans it wasn't all good he could at least have said something along the lines that "he thanks Ben for riding for us but that Rye would be taking the matter further on Monday as they were very unhappy about the situation" instead of being all nicey nicey about it. I have no problem with Ben Morley riding for us but if this was a case of our Management being happy to help Sheffield out thats 'not on' we pay our money to see our team ride not have guest riders unless it is absolutely essential, as in the case of injuries. Another point to make I know the rule book is over 60 pages long, no one can take all that in, but the riders should be responsible for checking machinery etc. rules. The Management and officials should be fully conversant with team rules, ie, doubling up, tactical rides etc BUT surely the riders if they are doubling up could have a look at the doubling up rules as well and work out for themselves who gets priority over them for meeting clashes then if they get phone calls from their clubs saying your riding for us not the other team this week they could also point out where feel they are riding.
