British final 2020
hammer1969 replied to Nassa10's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Hope they've remembered to tell the company doing the live stream and more importantly the riders !! 2021 can't come quick enough for me surely it won't be any worse than 2020 - will it, I'm totally p....d off with 2020. -
People have to buy a TV licence and lots of stuff the BBC put out doesn't interest everyone at least paying to watch a live stream you can choose if you want. I'll be watching on Saturday regardless of line up, one a race starts anything can happen at least you get a result unlike a football match where you watch for 90 minutes and it's still 0 - 0 when it finishes.
-
Not sure of the rules etc but once you've paid you can watch on demand after the meeting has ended, probably from the next day, don't know how long it would be available for though. I watched live last night and just after the meeting started I emailed them with a question expecting to get a reply probably today but they answered within 20 minutes, there's a link to email on their website they may be able to advise you.

I watched last night's stream from Belle Vue and really enjoyed it but I'd always choose watching live over streaming. On saying that with no local derbys as in years gone by my nearest track is at least a 2/3 hour round trip which I do for all their home fixtures if the weather's OK. I'd love to go to all the away meetings as well but thats impossible so I'd happily stream them for £10 each probably up to twice a month but I think to make it viable for watching regularly for most people and to encourage others like me to also watch streams of other than the team they support £5 would be nearer the mark. It would be much cheaper for 2 or more people to watch from home even at £10 a time but nothing can replace watching live, so alongside streaming Promoters need to find ways to get new supporters into the stadiums first.

No consistency anywhere, no wonder people are fed up, as I said this Virus doesn't know whether fans are watching, speedway, football or any other sport so surely a percentage of the stadiums capacity could be allowed in and it would also help keep people employed. -

I've always wondered this exact same question "whose labelled them Elite Sportsmen". Yes it is a skill and not anyone can ride a Speedway bike it takes years of practice but also I expect a great majority of them have other jobs to supplement their income as it is only a summer sport as well, especially I would have though the riders who only ride for teams in the U.K -

We all know that the noise, smell, etc. that only live speedway can give is part of the enjoyment and that also many fans would have put in a lot of effort in to be at this meeting in travel etc but just think of all the effort the Promoters have put in to try and get this meeting on, first with 2,000 fans then to have it slashed to 1,000 then a couple of days before it takes place the rug is whipped from under their feet with no fans allowed at all. The riders who agreed to take part I am sure would prefer to have fans there instead of riding in an empty stadium to what for some of them might have been their only ride this season (whether they are top riders or not is irrelevant). I have paid for the live stream and I hope as someone else said that 1,000 fans sign up to watch and even more than that would be great. At least by watching it will show to the Riders and Ipswich Promotion that we do care about Speedway and even though there will only be 2 of us watching in my house we'll be cheering on our riders (Eastbourne). As for the noise and the smell of the bikes we'll just have to use our imagination and old memories. Roll on Saturday and please dont let it rain. -

"Imo if it is allowed to go ahead its absolutely fricking rediculous that 1000 can't go to Speedway in the same stadium a week before " EXACTLY RIGHT ! and I would add there's probably more people wandering round supermarkets every day than attending a single speedway meeting. I assume Ipswich get a percentage of the live streaming money on Saturday, I'll be watching and I hope others do as well after the Government's latest stay at home announcements yesterday ie if I'm in a pub after 10pm I'm more likely to get the virus than before 10pm, bloody rules are getting so confusing they are becoming a joke. Roll on next year - I hope. -

The Government don't seem able to grasp that fans watching professional sports and fans watching non professional sports are still people and possibly the same people ie they watch stock cars and speedway, surely reduced capacity for stock cars should also apply equally to other sports, speedway, football etc. The Virus doesn't know the difference between fans at amateur or professional sports or is it that clever it can pick and choose which venue it decides to strike at, no it can strike anywhere we just all need to take precautions, hands, face, space then perhaps we can all enjoy a bit of life as it used to be. -

I wasn't lucky enough to get a ticket but feel gutted for the fans that did but now can't go. Whether it was a good or mediocre line up is irrelevant it was a speedway meeting and that's what counts. I know this virus is serious but for goodness sake do this Government have any idea at all what they are doing. A speedway meeting with 1000 fans watching in a stadium that holds thousands more than that gets cancelled yet there are more people shopping in a Market close to me 4 days a week and not wearing masks and social distancing is unheard of. For goodness sake Boris get a grip and let's have some sort of life back. -

Went to Plymouth on 8th to watch Eastbourne win the 3 team tournament, great meeting well done Plymouth promoters. Next week I will be watching Eastbourne team riding again, well almost (5 out of the 7 anyway) and hopefully seeing one of them win or finish on the podium in the British Final. I don't care if it does to some seem a weak line up at least it makes a change to the doom and gloom in the News broadcasts and the offerings being shown by terrestrial channels on TV (I don't have Sky etc). Just wish I had been able to get a ticket. -

Why should we not be attending public gatherings. Not all medical conditions are visible. Myself and many others are able and entitled to make the most of our lives and that includes enjoying/watching sports/theatre/cinema etc. If I felt unwell I would not be going out in the first place. Just because some of us can't wear a mask doesn't mean we have to lock ourselves away, understanding and tolerance is needed in these uncertain times by everyone. -

Article says " fans should note under current circumstances everyone must wear a face covering within the Adrian Flux Arena" Are the rules different in Kings Lynn, can anyone enlighten me, I thought they only had to be worn in shops etc not in outdoor open spaces and as far as I am aware they weren't worn at Scunthorpe. This is a genuine question I'm not trying to be sarcastic etc as I would like to go to the meeting but am unable to wear a face covering. -
I'm no air conditioning expert but I reckon outdoors has to be better than 're circulated air. As for toilets, bars etc I think it will probably be up to us fans to try and keep our distance and not all rush to the loos during the tractor race. I hope there will be some racing this year and if there is I will be there but it is beginning to look doubtful unfortunately. It seems that "stadiums" have all been lumped together under one umbrella even though football stadiums are usually fairly full and stadiums with small sports like ours are not being assessed separately.
-
I suppose it will ultimately depend on what clubs want to run and what riders are willing to ride, obviously there would have to be a lot of give and take on all sides and possibly 're allocating of some riders perhaps.
-
Why not merge all the Premiership and Championship clubs who want to run into one league for this year, call it Pandemic Challenge league perhaps, at least there would be some speedway this year
-
So pleased for these lads, sadly we've been denied the pleasure of watching them race so far this year. I see Neil Vatcher is looking for sponsors to help with tyres etc wouldn't it be great if they managed to get all their tyres sponsored - start looking down the back of your sofas people as we've not been able to go out and spend much in the last few months you must have some spare mouldies knocking about somewhere "every little helps" as a well known supermarket keeps telling us.
-
Where there's a will there's a way. If promoters want Speedway they should go all out to make it happen. Most people have access to a mobile phone and/or the internet perhaps a contact list could be operated by the stadium on entry ie name, contact details and if there is a reported case people are contacted via a group email or text or perhaps register with the club via a link on their website with your name and contact details, then the list is left with turnstile staff and if your not on the list you don't get in. Admittedly it will take longer to get through the turnstile but the gates usually open at least an hour before the start and could maybe open earlier. It will also take a lot of trust on both sides and patience by everyone but if we really want speedway back us supporters need to stop being so negative and try to help the promoters make it happen. Surely I can't be the only one with a few ideas most of us have been going Speedway for years and some of you have probably got a few better ideas than I managed to come up with in 10 minutes.
-
Exactly, but I'm happy to come out of my air raid shelter if there was somewhere I'd like to go, ie speedway, theatres - indoors, etc but as someone in a previous quote said "not if I have to wear a muzzle"
-
Entirely agree with you. Also it's apparently one rule for all depending on whether you want to follow it or not. Was in a pub yesterday lunchtime, booked our table, had lunch and a drink while watching a group of 30 or so who had reserved all the tables in the conservatory for a party for a 3 year old, loads of kids running about, adults not socially distanced and obviously not from one family/bubble as the rules say and pub staff say nothing. Life has to go on but in a free country we should all be allowed to live it as we choose and not how we are told to live it. Yes the Virus is serious but everybody has their own problems as well, surely now life should be able to return to normal as long as we all take precautions for our own health (and in case anyone hasn't guessed by now yes I am pretty pissed off with the whole situation but I'm probably in the minority whose views don't count with the powers that be)
-
All the new Virus rules must be a nightmare for venues to sort out, still if we can't watch speedway this year we can always go to Alton Towers, Legoland etc as theme parks are now open - does all this make sense - well it doesn't to me
-
I'd be there - and in front of you at the turnstile (ha ha)

I'm at the vulnerable age but my thinking is "lots of things in life are a risk, none of us (young or old) know what's round the corner, enjoy life while you can". I have spoken with relatives who are only in their late 30s who are frightened to go shopping etc, that's no way to live I intend to make the most of whatever time I have left, I'll be as sensible as possible but I will not shut myself away.
