  1. Maybe I'm being a little naïve but I assumed that there would be more to being a speedway rider than "how much I can earn, for how little I have to ride". Surely there are a few that actually enjoy racing and would like to do as much as they can within reason. The window cleaner analogy shouldn't completely apply.
  2. I think Ronnie Correy is still living over here. (He may have returned home and come back)
  3. A couple that spring to mind are Jack Geran & Robbie Kessler
  4. The track was on the outskirts of Nanpean which is a few miles north east of St Austell. I went a few times before moving to Cornwall. Great racing on a 220 metre (if I remember correctly) track.
  5. I also remember seeing Kyllingstad scoring his maximum. I think it was only his 2nd appearance at Blunsdon and I'm sure it was on a Sunday afternoon as part of a double header.
  6. RIP Alan. I always enjoyed reading his enthusiastic and humorous posts when watching streams. I can only agree with others that he came across as an extremely likeable chap.
  7. You're right. Lakeside but I'm not sure if he rode there again.
  8. Can anyone advise me if this book is still available and if so, where can I obtain one. Thanks, Simon
  9. It does seem to fail if your no.1 rider is missing.
  10. I suppose this is the price you pay when you don't operate a guest system as we do here. Nicki is obviously a huge loss.
  11. Gnistorna seem to be struggling out of the gate. Not making it easy for themselves.
  12. Why? At least have a counter argument instead of just being a smart ass.
  13. I don't completely buy that it's the current format that's lowering the top rider's averages. Using the old 15 heat format, your No.1 would have 5 rides, including the nominated heat and would probably ride against 7 heat leaders, 2 second strings and 1 reserve; I'd say no easier than the current format yet riders such as Adams and Crump would average 9.5 - 10 season after season.
  14. Great post. I think most fans accept guests for injured riders as a necessary evil but doubling up, fast track reserves and riders missing meeting due to overseas commitments is making team speedway farcical.
  15. Good meeting and great finish for Gnistorna. Catch you all again soon.
  16. Nice ride by Gapinski. Gnistorna have it all to do now.
