Is Rich Lawson The New Harry Kane?
Robert Lee replied to LagutaRacingFan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Ah, thanks. I'm not much of a movie buff, so I'd never have known that. But why are people comparing an actor to a speedway rider..?? -

Who's Harry Kane? -
Wot! Haven't you heard about the new speedway engine made by the Bo-Ke special power units division of the Chinese state space programme..?

Digressing for a moment from the frenzy of armchair experts second-guessing the promotion's team selections (is there an emoticon thingy for "yawn"?): It's great to see that we are getting speedway reports in our local freebie newspaper. Two separate stories this week. Good move by Bees management, wider publicity can only help. Maybe some of my neighbours who used to go to speedway will try it again (I've already recruited one).

BTCC, Moto GP, F1. And best of all, Speed Hill Climb - a full day's racing non-stop (except for a gentlemanly break for lunch) for the price of a speedway match. Ever seen a 600 bhp single-seater racing up a single track road? Makes four blokes on bokes look tame. Oops, forgot Superbikes and WRC.

Coventry Bees V Poole Pirates 10th April 2015
Robert Lee replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Until the play-off final like last year....... Bit of strategic planning needed here: Start looking now for a replacement no 1 by the end of September. Someone who'd be fully committed on a cold October's night at Wimborne Road. -

Nothing to do with RR v guest or Manager's decisions. Our No 1 couldn't be bothered and gave the match to the visitors. -

HansAndersen hang your head in shame. The losing margin was what you should have scored. Did Mat Ford pay you to throw the match? -

Blimey ! Managed to get the gist after reading this for the 3rd time with the aid of a cold towel round my head. Glad I'll be missing the sermon. -

Wolves V Coventry Monday 30th March

Yes, forza Nr 46. But it's not the same without Steve and Charlie and the brilliant BBC coverage. The pair of clowns who do the ITV4 commentary make you realise how good Kelvin and Nigel are ! -

Wolves V Coventry Monday 30th March

Guilty as charged m'lud. Thing is, I can't get into the garden because of the weather, and I've watched the GP and Moto GP recordings half a dozen times. Here's a thought: If everyone 'fesses up to how sad they are to take part in this debate, we could reach 10 pages and submit it to the Guinness Book of Records for the longest pointless discussion about a non-event. -

I'm not backing Doolan, of course Garrity has a better record around Monmore. My comment referred to the management decision. With 7 riders you have options, with 6 you are scuppered if things don't go to plan. -

So you can predict the future and you know that Doolan would not score well and that Garrity would not have bike problems as he did on Friday but he'd repeat his heroics from last season at Monmore (against a heavily revised Wolves team). Common sense says that you go with a seven-man team and keep your options open. Your 6-man team would only work if Garrity scored double figures. Pity we'll never know now that the weather has intervened. -

Don't know that I'd call 3 1 R 2* a really off night. Beaten only by an opposition 2nd string and an engine problem....... -
Hello? Woodward is unfortunately at home in Oz nursing a broken leg.
-
Hasn't he already made a success? Look at the statistics.

Amazing how some on here will always turn good news into an opportunity for a cheap shot at a promotion that shows repeatedly that they are serious about winning. Still haven't seen any answer to my earlier question: Why does M Horton still have so many knockers on here?? A lot of innuendo and snide remarks, but no-one has come out and said why they hate him so much. Do you want a winning speedway team or a lovey-dovey promoter?
-
Ho hum. I don't have any impressions of Mick Horton, I've never met him, but as an outsider I think he's doing a good job at Coventry. My humble apologies for getting my dates mixed up from over half a century ago - it happens when you get old. Maybe it was Greenfield Stadium in Bradford in the late 50s, then Halifax through the late sixties. Unless someone on here knows better than the erudite Mr/Ms B C Diary.
-
Last time anyone said that to me was at The Shay in about 1959. They were right that time.
-
I can't think of promoter who takes on board the punters' comments & moans as much as M Horton does. Getting back everyone's favourite track man and not signing Klindt are the latest examples. Why does he still have so many knockers on here?? Mind you, it's a pity he overlooked Fred Perkins......
-
Yeah, and if it doesn't work out, we can always re-declare with Fred Perkins for the run-in to the play-offs. As long as Fred doesn't need a loan to get his old JAP back from the museum...........
