  1. Yes, they battled hard. Yes it's great for the Wolves fans to have something to cheer about. Yes the rules are the same for everyone. No, they didn't deserve to win, the opposition got 46 points and in a sane world there should be only 90 points available for 15 heats. By the way, removing my impartial hat, I'm glad Poole lost.............
  2. Errmmm not really. Poole got 46 points - that's a win in a 15 heat match. Only thing is, Wolves were given 3 extra points for nothing. Not a dig at Wolves, just a comment on the ludicrous jeux sans frontieres golden double rule.
  3. OK, have two or more start marshals. Or use chocks behind the wheels.
  4. Yep, that would do it. As I said, weak marshalling at the start is the cause of most of the problems.
  5. A lot of the problems are down to poor start marshalling. In speed hillclimbs, they put a chock behind the rear wheel to make sure they can't get a roller. The chock is on the end of a long pole (no Gollob jokes please!) held by a someone in suitable PPE. How difficult can it be to do the same in speedway? Then they can move or do what they like at the start, but they will never get a flyer. Tape breaking would be the only offence, and you could let the race run then disqualify the offender at the end.
  6. errmm....sorry, I'm a bit thick (it has been said) but what do the numbers signify? I think I can grasp the team figures - based on home / away points gained / lost? But how are the rider's figures derived? Genuine question to aid my education, although it might be a bit late as I left school over half a century ago!
  7. And who would you get to replace him? They are not exactly queuing to pick up this particular poison chalice. I'm guessing the salary is peanuts if anything at all.
  8. Don't know about stable door; gift horse and mouth spring to mind. Wolves fans should maybe be more appreciative of what they have: A long-term promotion team and a track that more often than not produces cracking racing. What might the future be if CVS gets fed up of the abuse he gets and walks away?
  9. It might be simple to you, but I only got grade 2 in English O level and I don't speak collie at all, so thanks for the translation...!
  10. OK, yes, most of the time when we need him most he usually does the business, unlike Andersen. But if only he didn't have his regular dips in scoring, we might not have our backs to the wall so often.
  11. Yes, but after 20 years as a top rider, why does it take him so long to figure out a problem (presumably with the bikes, not with himself)?
  12. I'm not suggesting we should drop either of them. Just saying that it's their inconsistency that costs us championships, not any weakness in the rest of the team (e.g. play-off final last year). And I know 8 is a rare average these days, my point really was that they need to be getting close to their average every match, especially at home. A string of double figures then a few 4s and 5s is not going to win the big ones.
  13. I may not be as clued up as the regulars on here, but I'm baffled by all this talk of changes to the middle order, when our problem lies with a top two who so often go walkabout when they are most needed. Last night Robbo & co saved the day yet again whilst Andersen & Harris seemed to have forgotten how to set up their bikes and/or how to ride. How many times have we seen that in the last few years? Leicester must be wondering how they managed to lose last night. All we need for a play-off winning side is at least one heat leader who consistently scores double figures (10 from 5 only equals an 8-point average, after all).
  14. So, to sum up the season so far (according to some forumistas): Our heat leaders are not performing, the management are inept, one reserve is hot-headed, and the other is injured. Oh, and we are ten points clear at the top of the league and we've gained 16 points out of 24 on the road. I hope things will start to look up soon............
  15. Errm....we proved that at BV &KL, didn't we..........?
  16. I think that's a bit harsh. Visitors are always going to be up against it when the home top two are on fire, especially at Wolves and especially when it's Lindgren and PK. Harris and Andersen met one of those two in all but two of their rides. Look at the rest of the Wolves' Scores. One league point is fair enough in the circs.
  17. Havvy to C Morton before heat 10: OK, if you let Danny finish last in this one so you can't use the jeux sans frontieres golden double, we'll give you a 5-1 in 15 so you can have a league point. But if we meet you in the playoffs, you have to let us win. Mort: OK Gaz, deal. See you in the pub later. Not.
  18. Good point about the gates - 10 wins off gate 4, none off 1. As someone else mentioned, can't remember a match where no rider got double figures, but the gate imbalance might explain that. I thought the ref blotted her copybook in heat 11 when Robbo got a flyer and she called an unsatisfactory start. He didn't jump or roll, he just anticipated well and that shouldn't be penalised. In the re-start, Nicholls did the same, and she let it go.
  19. You have to assume that Havvy owes Chris Morton a favour so gifted him the league point. If not, BV owe us one. Or........the club saved some points money once the match was in the bag. One point to Kylma must pay less than a Harris/Andersen 5-1.
  20. You're right. On aggregate from the two matches you might even make 60........
  21. Let's hope Hansie doesn't suffer from post-Swindon points disorder. Remember what happened the night after he last scored 14 for the Robins.
  22. Great idea. It's a wonder no-one has thought of that already..........
