  1. Regarding track grades last night, they were planned for after heat 4.7,10 and 14, Twice our captain asked for extra grading as Nike Lunna had damaged his bike in one race and the other extra one was that our riders wanted the wheel out more to create more dirt, I believe it's just common practice to have a pop at the grading when the meeting was heading for a 9.10pm finish until Coty's crash. You wanted a quicker run meeting, you were getting that!! Finally congratulations to Sheffield and good luck in the final.
  2. It needs to be something different, 8 teams ain't enough, I don't know how we sort this mess out but the way it's going the top 3/4 clubs won't have anybody to race soon, people are not watching our sport on a weekly basis, the play offs prove there are still fans out there, but not going every week, a ten team EL would be ideal but where are the riders going to come from? Is it squads that are needed or does the points limit have to come down, that won't please the biggies but it might give all teams a chance, don't think it can be solved at one agm so a longer plan needs to be the way to go, self interest plays such a part nowadays which I can understand but is it really helping the sport as a whole or is it killing it off very slowly, take a hit for 4/5 years with a weaker product and bring the youngsters through at PL level and hope they develop which will make our nation stronger, but with that will we lose the existing supporters ? I don't think any of us know the way forward, someone must!
  3. Aaron struggled badly last week when he really shouldn't have raced, still not feeling great but hopes to back Sunday, a genuine case, not someone who ate a dodgy burger lol Ricky Wells is a top replacement that's for sure. Let's get this fixture out the road and see if we can race one of our finals on a Friday night, same as last year, I believe you still have to be in the major competitions to protest if another club wishes to use your race night, no problem there then, ahh Friday night speedway at Ashfield, who would have thought it lol
  4. Somerset have been so dominant at home this season apart from there match v Glasgow when they had only 4 riders at the finish, They will need 12/14 to take to Ipswich who seem to be a different team since September, Big plus that R Tungate is fit after a knock at Glasgow, his scoring round the OTA could well be a factor, but will we see him at Glasgow two days later ?
  5. Doesn't matter how nice a guy Lemon is or how much he helps riders off track , he blew it big time, swap a reserve to go against Tai, any idiot could see that gate 3 was by far the best gate, Cook was on 3 and made a decent start in his first race only for Masters to take him wide, I agree that the manager doesn't ride the bikes but to Clegg beat Jacobs 3 times without swapping reserves baffles me too. Watch Adams in action tomorrow and I bet he doesn't just look at riders scores, he will no the gate stats in every race. And if they get in trouble early his TR won't score 0 I really hope Belle Vue start well and give Wolves a fright, will certainly make it better for the neutral.
  6. Wolves started like a train and hurt BV very early, a couple of strange decisions by the BV manager, ( and that's me being kind ) that let Wolves kick on even more, how a rider can win the U21 final and bring that to the party tonight stinks too, not a great spectacle I'm afraid with the gate positions the main reason for riders winning races rather than there track craft, almost kills the 2nd leg unless BV start like Wolves did tonight, somehow I don't see P Adams making the same mistakes as his opposite number did if Wolves are in trouble early on.
  7. Gate 3 is so much better than the rest, the riders all ask for consistent starts, but poorer riders can win from 3 as it's got such an advantage.
  8. 4 race wins out of first 5 races and he puts a TR off heat 1, unbelievable!!!
  9. Why would Lemon bring in his stronger reserve when Woofinden is in the race, what's he thinking???
  10. Well Glasgow are in the KOC final. Not a classic that's for sure, some tough racing on the opening bends with one or two riders riding on the edge, Let's hope all the wounded riders are ok, that's always priority. Tungate damaged his shoulder in heat one according to reports which didn't help the rebels, be interesting to see if he's back up north next Sunday, He has a semi final v Ipswich on Friday night plus the ELRC on Saturday, he scored 11 in the league match so he can ride Ashfield. Glasgow now look to be in two finals but it's coming at a cost with riders taking sore ones along the way, let's hope for a less physical weekend ahead .
  11. Forecast is for a sunny afternoon on Sunday so all systems go for this one, I think this will be close, Somerset welcome back Jake Allen who has had a great first season, they are probably stronger with Campton rather than BWD though I don't think Hopwood will score as much as Bewley did at number 7, Glasgow still without Lunna, might not hurt them too much if Garcia is on form again, also be interesting how Worrall and Tungate cope with riding at number 1, I'll go for a 6/8 point win for the home team with Lawson the top man for the Tigers and Grajczonek the top man for Somerset. Stay safe and let's hope the Tigers can do enough to reach the final.
  12. Won't have to listen to there constant criticism much longer, there season effectively finishes on Friday lol So much pressure on Scotland's big club to try and keep the trophys north of the border this season after a disappointing season from the Monarchs.
  13. Good point regarding two of our riders racing in an individual meeting the night before the Somerset meeting, Problem was no one from Glasgow knew they were racing as the Redcar promotion didn't have the decency to consult the Glasgow promotion who were shocked to hear Lunna had been injured whilst racing at Redcar, that was the first they knew of Lunna's involvement, could be very costly!
  14. Harsh exclusion of Tom Bacon, classic, he lifted and accidentally put two Glasgow riders into the fence. Feel sorry for BWD, though if the ref had done his job in the first running of heat 1 he would have been excluded as I felt there wasn't much contact, injuries are part of the sport as we all know but Somerset don't have any right to win the league cup or KOC just because they've had a great 6 months, as for the league, well there is an argument for that as they finished top at the cut off date. Hope all the riders theft took tumbles are feeling a bit better today.
  15. Worrall an Bach were split up last Saturday at Workington, Smmers and Bach got two 5 1s and a 4 2 when they were out together and defeated a team unbeaten at home in 26 months.
  16. Should be a cracking meeting, Somerset will want as big a lead as possible to take north on Sunday, Glasgow on form at the moment but were poor in the league match earlier in the season, If the Tigers can hit 40 it should make the return on Sunday very evenly balanced.
  17. Maybe have to buy Berge if you want him again in 2017 lol
  18. This meeting has just got a whole lot tougher after Workington winning at Peterborough last night, The way I see it . If Glasgow win tonight then Newcastle would have to win at Ipswich on Thursday as they are riding there last league match v Scunthorpe after the cut off date. Ipswich beginning to find a bit of form at the right time too, say what you want about the play offs but the PL is just about to go into overdrive with excitement, Sheffield and Peterborough are now in real danger of dropping out, Glasgow will go there tonight with a very big following after last nights rain off at Edinburgh. Let's hope the team give them something to shout about, can't wait
  19. The play offs are here to stay, they help clubs pay off bills at the end of the season and whether we like them or not they do bring in the crowds, an end of season tournament wouldn't be the same, well done to Somerset for finishing top but rest assured if they don't win the play off final there riders, promotion and fans will be gutted, try telling them, but it's ok as you finished top, Newcastle put down a marker on Sunday night and only lost by 4 at Somerset earlier in the season, and that will worry them. No two meetings are ever the same and the tension at the play offs can get to anybody. I believe anyone of the top 5 can win the league , my team Glasgow, if there on it!, they will be tough to beat! Only wish Sky would show an interest in it
  20. A combination of a very good Glasgow performance and a pretty poor show from Sheffield, Lawson looked back to his old self and seems to do better with the number 1 race jacket on, two track records shows the guys are getting faster just at the right time hopefully. There will be tougher tests ahead and we still need to be more consistent home and away, quicker ran meeting today with a rain shower just at the right time lol Big weekend coming up with two away matches against two unbeaten sides at home in the league. It's about to get very interesting!!!
  21. A real tough fixture I believe, Sheffield had a very convincing win against Rye House on Thursday evening and will turn up on Sunday full of confidence, Glasgow must start better and with Lawson back at no one I think they will, Summers back at number five will help him as he has struggled at number one for some reason, I predict a close meeting with Glasgow winning but Sheffield to get a point.
  22. Biggest test of the season, no doubt about that, hopefully the Tigers will shade it , we scored 50 last week and Lawson only scored 7, he will need to be back to his usual form to keep our home record in tact, key battles for me are the middle pairings of both teams and if Lunna is on it we should out score them at reserve, weather forecast looks good so let's hope it's a great meeting between the top two in the league at present, ( beware Newcastle) and the Glasgow boys come out on top, Prediction Glasgow 49 Somerset 41
  23. So glad Glasgow decided to stay Sunday's this season lol.
