Manor Park classic bikes
customhouseregularisback replied to topaz325's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Going back to my early childhood (early 1950’s) our next door neighbours had a V8 Pilot. Just looked it up on Wiki…3,5Litre, 80 bhp, 0-60 in 21 seconds and 18 mpg. Things have certainly changed. My 1.4 Citroen reaches 60 in half the time and recently on a long run to Wales achieved 67 mpg. -

My eldest son has a 2018 Mustang GT 5Litre. Roars like hell. Many years ago my dad had a 1959 Pontiac Strato Chief. -

I don’t know if anyone would call this a classic car, but if I had the money to buy and run I would love a 1960 Buick LeSabre sedan. For it’s time a beautiful design which in my opinion still looks good today. -

Very good response. I travelled all over the country in the late 60’s to support West Ham. Statistically we were not going to win many matches but I still travelled to Scotland twice iin one year. True supporters stay loyal to their team. -
I am embarrassed to admit, being a massive Speedway fan since 1960, that I never knew at the time that Sunderland had a team, let alone know that former Hammer George Barclay was a team regular. In my defence I stopped attending league speedway following the demise of West Ham, and only attended league meetings between 1964 and 1971 featuring the Hammers.

My first ever speedway meeting was at Rye House in 1960. I remember standing up against the fence on the first bend and having to duck to avoid getting showered with dirt. Over the course of the season I got used to watching Clive Hitch,Geoff Mudge, the McGillivrays, Tommy Sweetman and others. Rye House fostered my love of speedway and when West Ham reopened in 1964 I transferred my allegiance to Custom House.

Many thanks for the post. -
I met Len in 1968 when he was reopening Rayleigh. My dad and I were helping get the track and stadium ready for racing to resume after a 5 year absence. We found him very friendly and easy to work with.

Birkirkara football stadium would be a great venue for a Maltese GP. 🤡 -

Taking Polish citizenship doesn’t make them Polish. They are Russian with dual citizenship. If they compete internationally they compete as Russians. -

Hard to get a better field than that. -
Watching a short video on the Dohren website. Track appears almost circular with the start gate behind the fence. Might be an optical illusion though as would be no on-track finish line. Maybe the flag waver stands behind the fence. On the video riders appear to start the race on a bend. Racing looks good though.

Scrap top 6 automatically qualifying? Two GP challenges (semi-finals)-top 8 from each qualifying for GP series?. How to select the 32 for the challenges?. -

Doyle absolutely. If, and a big if, Emil and Artem come back, that leaves 1. Has to be Michelson surely. -

Not likely. You have omitted European Champion for a start. An argument for SGP2 winner could possibly be made. That would leave 3 wildcards, most likely 7th. and 8th. from previous year and one worthy pick. Personally I would prefer a regular field of 16, not 15, no one-off wildcards for each venue. That way I you have 4 permanent wildcards. -

The FIM may be asked but I doubt they would accept being told.
