-
I'll get my hubby to let you know where he gets his whips from Oh yeah, I got Jamies bike out yesterday and 'cleaned' it, how do they get dirty when not being ridden?!!!! And the kevlars went in the wash too!!!
-
Already done mate And the hoovering, polishing. Cooked a full roast dinner, washed-up (yes I did cut my toenails so I could get closer too the sink). Washed and polished the cars, did some gardening as well as all those other menial tasks us females have to do!!!!
-
Sorry you find my post boring but we can't all be complete know-it alls like you!!!!! Must have been so damn wonderful for your Son when he first started out, to have someone in the family who knew everything there ever was to know about :- the bike, the rules, how to race, who to contact etc etc Unfortunately I had only ever been a firm supporter of speedway and never dreamed that one day I would be involved on the other side of the fence. Instead of being so condesending (sp) how about a little help for another youngster who just wants to get his foot on the first rung of the ladder. It's a good job there are some out there who do. A very great big thank-you to those who offered thier help and guidence at Somerset last Friday, don't have to mention names but you have all been helpful and he is now a step closer to his dream.
-
Yes actually saw the Rulebook last friday (Thanks Ray). It does state that 14 & 15yr olds can ride a 500cc but do need to be signed off as competant by two qualified training instructors to get thier licence!!! Now isn't that the same as last year????? Still it does now mean Jamie is again !!!
-
About time the powers that be sorted this farce out!!! I e-mailed SCB to ask where/when and how the 'tests' would be carried out, guess what, no reply!!! To me that is just plain ignorance, doesn't take two minutes just to reply and say thank-you for your interest.
-
Thanks for the email Vince. Just have to find out where & when to get the test done!!! Perhaps Jamie will be happy then.
-
Can you see the Elite, Premier and Conference riders agreeing if the SCB suddenly turned round and said 'Sorry you can only use Jawas from now on, starting in two weeks time. Oh and because some of you keep crashing we are now going to restrict you to a 350cc as you obviously cannot handle a 500cc!!!!'? Me thinks not!!!
-
No not ours! Holding onto it for now as it is quite special because of who we got it off. If it has to stay under wraps for 12 months then so be it.
-
Has anyone since the new rule was bought in? Unfortunately up till now have only been a supporter, but am now having to learn things from the riders point of view. Lots of rules and regulations that most supporters are not even aware of, then just when you think you have learnt one they shift the goalposts!!! Bad enough understanding them as an adult (no comments thank you ) the poor kids must be really confused.
-
Thanks Jayne. How on earth do you complete a competency test or assessment course if you cannot ride a 500cc without a licence!!! Bit of a farce. Still I will write and maybe they can give me some advice.
-
So it's only U14's who cannot get a licence then? In that case Jamie should be ok as he was 14 last November. I am still gutted though for all those under that age, who through no fault of thier own, cannot now ride the bikes they have if they are 500cc. Surely if a training instructor at any track has said they are competent to ride it that should be ok, or that undermines the instructor!! Next Question: Where do you apply for a licence and am I right in thinking that there is more than one licence!!??!!
-
What a wonderful idea, but would they do it . It would certainly give the youngsters a chance and as you say would probably encourage more. Surely the kids of today are the champions of tomorrow, without them there will be no future Speedway.
-
Unfortunately having spent all our money on the 500cc we just do not have anything left to convert it and Jamie doesn't want to sell it. Also any money we now get is meant to be going towards a van, too darn expensive to keep hiring. How is all this going to affect the Acadamy and also the U15 Championship? Agree that it is the timing of it all that sucks, no thought or regard!!!
-
As I said in my last post, only bought the 500cc because Jamie was told he could handle one. He went to a training school where he actually rode two, both with different set ups and did very well. He wasn't really interested in going flat out in competitions yet, just wanted to get his confidence up and build up slowly. I certainly do not have the funds to now get a 250, it is just not an option. We were going to get him a 250 or 350. Shame the governing body and the ??????? who decided this couldn't have agreed and announced it at the end of last season, instead of letting lots of parents and thier children spend the money on equipment during the winter. I understand that I am not the only one who is livid, there are quite a few angry parents out there. Thanks SCB, another rider you have screwed over My apologies to anyone out there who doesn't agree with me but Jamie worked really hard to get the money together for this bike and now it is just going to sit in a shed. Sorry I am just angry!!!
-
So what is Jamie supposed to do? I certainly cannot afford another bike. The only reason we bought a 500 was because we were told by a training officer that he was confident on a 500 after seeing him ride one. This is a bloody disgrace. Thought the idea was to encourage the youngsters not put them off speedway. I now have a very upset teenager and I am a very very angry mother. Will think about selling the bike and buy him either a mx or grasstrack. Will also think about whether I will actually bother going to any more meetings, don't know if I want to support an organisation that dumps on the youngsters in such a digusting way. I can understand about the need for safety and the younger ones maybe not being able to control a 500cc but where would riders like Lewis Bridger, George Piper, Brendan Johnson etc be if this was bought in before. Maybe someone from the BSPA would like to tell me what to do now or do they not give a damn, I shan't hold my breath whilst waiting for a reply!!!! Can he still ride at training schools on the 500cc on a day licence?
-
Sorry if this has been mentioned somewhere else, but couldn't find anything. Could anyone out there please confirm whether the rule was bought in that u15's cannot ride 500cc. I really do hope not as have just spent a mint on a new 500cc and Jamie is not 15 until November!!! If this is not the case please can someone help me with where to apply for licences and how much they cost. Know he has to be signed as competant (sp) by two instructors, hopefully can get that done as and when we can get to some training schools!!! Any help would be appreciated thanks.
