I'm with Star Lady on this, who actually knows, what happens if your number 2 and 3 are out injured? CL riders? is that not just cheating us AGAIN!? It's a step in the right direction, but why for number 1 but nobody else? Why not NO guests? CRAP, should be no guests or all guests. Guest for a number one bt not others is terrible. Newport had two rider with averages higher than Berwicks number one this year, so in Berwick vs Newport we could have had Niels missing and they coudl have had Makovsky(?) missing, they could hav a guest for the 8.3ish rider while we could not have a guest for a 9+ rider. I think the BSPA are running around shouting out my signature while men in whte coats run around behind them.
-
Well Done to the BSPA on so far comming up with a rule that 100% of people who have voted are against, successful in the KOC? Successful for who? the promoters? Because us fans did not like it.
-
So BSPA have cut costs?! Well so have i and from what I have just heard from my dad he will as well. Can today get any worse? Sport I hate it right now.
-
It might be a good shape mart W but it didn't have enough dirt or preparation on it in June when we were there. It crocked both Smart and Grieves. Lets not start this one again it's has been flogged to death already. Just making observation re track. Now now BTL, the post said good shape and I have NEVER heard anything bad about the shape, infact I have heard it is a near perfect shape (unlike Coventry) but it's just not looked after properly.
-
All this will do is give the number 7's artificially high averages so if this is he BSPA's answer to helping the youngsters they're very wrong, watch one or two youngster get high averages and get dropped for real 5 and 6 point rider who can walk there easy heats! They're having a laugh.

Cardiff 2004 - Block Booking
SCB replied to False dawn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
No, I'm going to Cardiff, meeting some wonderful people and a few forum members I'll then go home and watch the GP on tele unless I win tickets from SKy or Red Dragon, in which case I shall get in for nothing and I'm sure if I wait until after the firts heat I can come around to the forum area and sit on the step (so book the forum into the end of an aisle by the steps!). -
how many seat at Cardiff

He(you know who) has got a lot to answer for (to BSI), he's got to us both -
Well there's a simple answer to that one, why not try it yourself? All you have to do is start it, ask for help and I'm sure you'd get plenty of people wanted to put some sort of information on there. Worth a try and if it doesn't work wht have you lost? A few hours of your time where with any luck you would have had fun buiding the site and looking back at old memories. I would imagine Speedway in Birmingham would be quite expensive, that why London is sruggling for clubs(one) and in other sports(Wimbeldon to MK, dog tracks closing etc etc...). I woulg guess London, Birmingham and Manchester are 3 of the more expensive places to set up(and run) tracks.

I can't agree with the different places having different atmosphere i have sat in 3 places and it's all be the same, it's down to the people around you ultimately and i don't think people who buy cheaper tickets are any quieter or more boring But the living room at home is even more appealing and it costs nothing!! -
SRA U.S. National Championship - 10/11/03
SCB replied to Ryan's topic in International World of Speedway
Well Done Mr Perrin Shame that as in his one apperance at Newport I enjoyed watching Josh he reminded me almost of Craig Watson with his 2nd bend passes and the Watson vs Larsen race was very intresting Both wanted the wide line off the 2nd bend and dow he backstright, Josh got it but Wato managed to go a bit wider on the 4th bend and take the lead but if even Josh get an average tht allows him into the PL I'd love to see him at Newport. -
What do you mean would? I've watched about 10 different chimps on bikes in the last few years at Newport!

(On behalf of Trackman) Well at least it wasn't a swan

2004 British GP Tickets
SCB replied to witchnut's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I remember having a bloody Welsh GCSE exam on the day of practise, I wanted to try and sneak in, then I stayed in bed the other two days I have sat in he middle(4th bend) the top(entrance to 3rd bend) and the bottom(2nd bend) and IMO the top 3rd bend was best, and the 2nd bend was good, I think the only reason the 4th bend was so bad was not being in the middle but not being able to get a decent view of the start line. If I was going to go, I'd go for back straight, top tier front row or middle tier front row. Middle is best if you want to get on sky, they don't show the top or the bottom as tey will show the gaps as well if they do! I'm sure if I ring Red Dragon FM up on the GP weekend I'll get some free tickets -

Banning air horns? So we have no racing and no air horns. Why not just get 10 CL rider to ride around on unicycles to some cicus music and charge £100 a ticket for it. -

£25 for the cheapest tickets?! Are they mad! I prefer to see proper racing on a proper track and get that for £6(possibly £7) at Newport so I have no intention of paying atleast £25 for the pleasure. BTW, sat in L37(£25) last year and U28(£25) the year before that and they were better than M18(£35) where we sat the year before so just go for the cheaper seats if you're stupid enough to pay to go. If you want you can go to Cardiff, have a few to drink and get the train back to my house, sit in the living room and watch the meeting on the tele all for only £10 for one person, £19 for 2, £27 for 3, £34 for 4, £40 for 5 and for any extra just add £5!!! To make the atmosphere good I'll play who let he dogs out out? over and over again as loud as the sterio will allow me and if we al buy a mouth airhorn on te streets at Cardiff(£3 last year) we'll all go deaf by the end of the meeting. What more could you ask for? I'm sure if you like my mum will cook hotdogs and burger for £1 each, much less than Cardiff and we'll also have alcohol for sale, prices to be confirmed. You can also bring in your own food and drink as well adn we promise not to search you for any sandwiches and bottles of Dr Pepper you might be bringing in. Who wants to put there name down. ******LATEST NEWS****** If you book before the end of November you can also sleep in the shed for £10 per person for per night* where Wato, Smarty, Ander and Wilko sleep in the winter. *Minimum of 3 nights, strictly on a first come first served basis limited room, though we can for additional cost take the car out of the garage and let you sleep in there. Please note the garage roof leaks! -
Hands up all those who like Tim Stone??! OK, Hands up all those who DONT HATE Tim Stone! So far I ahve been unable to work out why Tim Stone wants a 40 point limit and what he thinks it will achieve yet he has already agreed terms with his top 2 riders from this year t head his team next year, not going to cut the cost of his top riders and the way I see it all it will do is raise the lower order riders demands but even if it doesn't Tim won't save money either as he has got his top two, who cost the majority of the money! Also the idea of the top riders moving up is crap as Newport already have there top 2 staying put, any EL want Tony Atkin? Sheffield have there number 1 and 3 and pretty much the othe two. Worky will keep there top 2. Just who can you see being released with a 40 point limit would not be with 45 point limit to go EL, it might push Gjedde rather than letting him jump! BTW, Tim Stone, Bob Radford and Jason Harrold can put there hands down :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
-
Surely the 3 (or 4) PL teams and all the EL teams are out numbered by the remaining PL teams. Are the EL promoters stupid as you build from the top down and its the bottom end that suffers not the top end, as I said, in 1999 the top end of the league lost Rishardson and Pedersen but gained Sean Wilson so there is hardly going to be a mad scramble for top PL riders to move up.
-
Well they had plenty of practice this year, using that CL regular, Rider Replacement.
-
Prehaps we should move the conference to Reading, then we might have a 40 point limit

World Longtrack Grand Prix Final Round in NZ
SCB replied to kiwi's topic in International World of Speedway
Someone has good taste -
This was pointed out at the start if the season. I thikn the website opened sometime in March :? But there are some intresting clips on there and well worth a look, even some intresting non-speedway things.
-
Were sky filming that? As they missed the pass when Betts took the lead I guess this proves racing was better in the good ol' days
-
And Kenneth Bjerre 15 point max vs Newport put him on 10.00 instead of 9.98(ish). How bloody fair!
-
Grading riders is pants! This way one team could have 1 rider on 9.99 and another tem have a rider in the same grade on 9.00 thats 0.99 difference, thats difference multiplied by 7 is nearly 7 points. Poole (richest club) to win the leage and Ipswich(poorest) to get a wooden spoon then. Well done the BSPA!! The points limit is one of the few things that works, why piss about with it?!

Last night I watched the coverage of the GP and though I would bring up a few things I noticed. 1. After the Nicki and Gollob crash, Gollob went back into the pits and had "words" with Tomasz, now I don't know if it was because he was scared of Tomaz or something but Nicki saw him coming, apologised and shook his hand while accepting what Tomasz had to say. Well done Nicki! 2. I lost count of the number of times that riders used the word duck, Channel 4 bleeped it out a few times as well! Crumpy, Gollob, Sullivan, Loram and Pedersen were all seen mouthing at it some point. So Crumpy is not the only one to swear. 3. In the final Nicki knew that Adams was going wide on the last lap so what did he do?! Moved out to the fence, I don't like riders doing that, whether they be Pedersen or Smart, I think it's wrong. Leigh didn't do the same after on the back straight, just proves talent and class will beat dodgy tactics!! 4. Ryan Sulivan, I don't know why but I'm realy starting to like him now. Must be because he is being more human! 5. TRicks house! He has build his workshop on the swimming pool! It was great to see him with his daughter like that, it's probably of very little intrest to non-speedwya fans but following riders liek TRick and Andreas is great(I used Andreas as an example as my sister saw that one last year and fell in love with Andreas!) 6. Please put more GP's on real tracks, seeing Gollob race like that is what speedway is all about, I am a complete convert now, I used to really dislike him, on and off track. No I love to see him ride and loved his comments with Julia, particuly after the Pedersen incident! I'm sure there were more points I wanted to mention than this so I'll probably add to it at some time!
