Incredible and demoralising. As a boy watching the Hammers I thought it would never end. Being at Wembley for the 1981 world final I thought the same. Sad how wrong I was.

Considering the tragedy that was Lokeren, West Ham has to hold that sadly unwanted title. Any other team's perceived misfortune pales in comparison.

As an aside...the 1964 Easter meeting at Custom House, which included Knutsson, Fundin and Nygren attracted a crowd of 15,000. Happy days.
