  1. 16th. April 1938... West Ham v Belle Vue. Heat 7... Eric Chitty and Jimmy Gibb. Both Canadian.
  2. Nice to see so many wish they had been to West Ham.
  3. How is it fair one can score 14 points over 7 races and end up with 20?. I also do not like this system.
  4. Every track that staged a World Final outside of Wembley, apart from Malmö and Gothenburg as I have already mentioned them in an earlier post. That’s more than 5 though!.
  5. Went to the 2 Scottish tracks in’67. Still remember the trips up from London.
  6. Custom House (of course), Plough Lane, Waterden Road, Hyde Road, Brandon.
  7. Yes and yes. I would have loved Sverre to have gone one better too.
  8. Obviously Wimbledon wasn’t Wembley but the Internationale was second only to the World Final for me. You would have really enjoyed them.
  9. Internationale meetings at Wimbledon were a must for me.
  10. Long live nostalgia. In my head I’m still 19 and going to Custom House on Tuesday.
  11. Bjorn and Sverre... what a joy and privilege to have them in our team.
  12. I must admit I enjoyed my few visits to Wood Lane.
  13. Lovely post and agree with every sentiment.
  14. Looking at the line-ups I would say Lambert has drawn the short straw. The Gorican round looks the toughest to me.
  15. Just a personal view obviously but in my opinion the racing was better at Custom House and Hyde Road. Having said that I always enjoyed my trips to Wembley and Plough Lane, though did not see a lot of league racing at Plough Lane and only went to Hyde Road for the BLRC meetings.
  16. I could add... being a Hammers fan, watching my speedway at England’s finest speedway stadium, though old-time Belle Vue fans may disagree.
