  1. Nice line-up though a 120m. track does does not give much space or time for a race to develop. As I only have an IPhone 5 and poor eyesight I don’t watch any speedway. I don’t have BT Sport or any satellite channels on my tv.
  2. There you go then. At 73 I have finally lost the plot.
  3. I may be remembering this completely wrong, quite possible given my advancing years, but I seem to recall a Wembley WF with no British representation. It did not seem to affect the attendance that much. I am sure someone will correct me if I am spouting rubbish.
  4. Bjorn was class, Sverre was excitement. Custom House was the place for be mid/late 60’s. I can’t believe it has been 50 years either.
  5. 1965 was my first WF too. Saw all the Wembley finals after that.
  6. 415 yards but originally 440 yards. Made for nice long heats. We got our money’s worth at West Ham.
  7. All the world’s top riders compete in Poland and/or Sweden. Scrap automatic qualifying, GP Challenge, wild cards etc. and take the top16 by race points average from one season to make up the field for next season’s GP series. That way you get the world’s top 16 on current form. I never understood the host track wild card rule. Terenzano has a capacity of 4,000. Why include a no-hoper Italian in the hope to boosting attendance. If a venue can’t attract 4,000 they should not be staging a GP.
  8. With practically every rider of note based in Poland, one would expect a stronger field. Why no Artem, Emil, Tai etc.?
  9. Unless one is in with a chance of the top 3 finish, why bust a gut striving for 6th. place, when the 6 below you get picked anyway. I agree Kubera should have got a place... does it really matter how many Poles or how few British?. Was anyone else even considered or were the wildcards decided long ago?.
  10. We had 3 times as many teams in the league back in 1965 and it was well run. Plenty of time for non- league meetings too.
  11. It seems some are, but all are entitled to their own opinions He is as good as Artem and Bartosz, but not consistently as good. That’s why I find him so frustrating.
  12. Emil... 2 x WU21 champion, 2x European champion, 3x SON winner, 3x WC medals, 22 GP finals, 7 GPwins... how much more is needed to class him as a great rider?.
  13. Emil has been my favourite rider since he first burst onto the scene, but his inconsistency really frustrates me.I fear he will go down in speedway history as the greatest rider never to become world champion. I do hope he proves me wrong.
  14. Survived the crash but ended his racing career. A terrible time which has stayed in the memory.
  15. Has to be a close call between Bewley and Lambert. Bewley has the NSS knowledge but Lambert has more international meeting experience.
  16. If GP2/WU21 is to be a feeder series, does that mean the winner should get a GP place?. If so, should the winner of this year’s WU21 get a pick for next year?.
  17. I was mulling over posting something similar myself, but with the PL number ones being handicapped to level the the field. I would award 2 titles... top PL scorer and top CL scorer, giving each league its own champion.
  18. Agree about the stadium. I started going to Custom House when it re-opened in 1964 and the stadium was old and tired looking, but still looked like a proper stadium.
  19. Just read this. Will try to watch tomorrow and see if I can help.
