Most the people were sat in the various executive suites. I know I did not stray to far from the complementary buffet and tea.... lol. What also needs considering is the weather forecast which if completely accurate would of meant no action at all.

Ben Morley- looked great and got faster and faster each outing. As smooth and effortless as ever but most exciting in my eyes is the fact he was riding the dirt Line rather then the curb Danno Verge - looked pretty slow at first but once he got his set up dialled in he was not much slower then the heat leaders. Could well prove to be a key man in tight matches. If he can gate he will be hard to pass. Aaron Baseby - looked as if he was never injured at the end of last season. Seemed very fast if not the fastest rider along with ayres tonight. Could well challenge Ben for the number 1 vest. Danny Ayres - looked like he has been riding for years, seriously fast without looking erratic. Smoothed out a lot of the rough edges. The couple of times he picked up unexpected grip he simply rolled off the throttle regained control and carried on unphased. Will be genuine Heat leader very early i predict. James Shanes - simply the best looking style on a bike a real eye pleaser. Up there with the fastest rides of the evening. Plus the addition that he never got out of shape once. A certainty for next year's fast track draft I reckon. Matt Saul - first time I have seen him, very impressive on track and looks well set up with 2 nice looking bikes in the pits. Certainly be one to watch if selected which I would do if down to me. Adam sheppard - on tonight's showing I would have to pick him my only fear being his equipment off the track. Seemed very steady on the bike. But I think was the only rider with one machine which could be his downfall Jamie Couzins - looked ok when on his own doing laps. But less confident when with riders although he did pass sheppard. Off track he looks well set up with 2 well turned out machines. Area needing most work is the gating but he has certainly got a professional looking outfit

They only had the 2. Someone has got a hard choice. When I get home I will pop up a review of all the lads.
-
Will post a full review of events after its finished. But first race off race for the seven and eight slots 1st place matt Saul, 2nd Adam sheppard 3rd Jamie couzins. Liam Sanderson is not here disappointingly. 2nd race starts with Saul and couzins coming together in turn 1. Couzins straight up, Saul up after a bit of attention. 2nd race re run. Couzins wins from sheppard and Saul. Couzins passed sheppard on opening lap. Saul did well to save a big rear up from a horrid hole on entry to first bend on 2nd lap.

It could be argue that his contract is owned by the raiders.....

Never seen Matt ride but the reports I ve heard say he was a good rider till he had a nasty injury and he has never been the same since. Look forward to seeing him Monday

My understanding is that Jamie and Adam are still contesting the number 7 and 8 slots. And Liam Sanderson and Matt Saul are riding off for the number 6 spot. My choices would be Sanderson and couzins

Cat I am glad you have taken time to read my posts. Being a son of a Canterbury rider I have an inbuilt rivalry with the eagles but not hatred. It was one of the best things to come out of the winter not only that they survived but riding in the national league and trophy is great for both clubs. Meaning two jumbo crowds each for both home meetings. While it was gutting Arena did not enter in the end I don't feel they would of added the same number of travelling fans that the eagles and kings fans will do. Roll on next Friday even though I expect a 20 odd point win for the blue and yellow I really can't wait!!!

After school tonight I suggest you read the thread properly. I have at no point said eagles will be rubbish (although I am starting to hope they are just to see what you say for yourself then) I have even said at various times that they will spank my team good friday... but over a season i feel they will be mid table at best.I have done the updates for the speedway update site from both ends of the phone and always assess riders in an unbiased way. But you are basing all you Comments on fresh air and assumptions. As for your comment of end of conversation, a conversation implies a two way discussion where both parties speak and listen. You seem unable to listen so there is no conversation here. Martin and Connor have seriously raised the bar promotionally not only at nl level but for speedway as a whole but that does not guarantee a winning side. The fact your boys can practice at home at will, will mean at home you will be pretty hard to beat but on the road you at first glance look a very beatable 7.
-
Can I ask how much experience and knowledge do you have of national league level speedway and the riders that compete? You seem to be arguing with people who have travelled far and wide watching these guys for years.
-
I am going good Friday expecting my team (kent) to get quite a spanking but I also confidently feel kent will finish above Eastbourne come September time.
-
Good to see we have a young mascot. Think it is another great thing I see other clubs do. Hopefully we will see him flourish into a team rider in the next couple of years.

No he hasn't Heat 15 points don't count towards averages.

Great night for a true legend. But I think Ben Morley pulled off the only overtake of the 15 heats! Could not pay to watch that each week. Matter of interest if Kelvin decided he wanted to come out of retirement would he be on a 3 point national league average? I don't know if I was excited by Kelv beating so many young brits at 51 years old or more concerned that our youth can't beat a guy who has been a decade retired!?! Also Suprised how small the crowd was, thought there would be at least double that. All that said would i go to the next Rico meeting, certainly would. Looking forward to reading my programme in my lunch break today. #RICO

Marc Owen is always exciting coming from behind but last night he was gating very well and just clearing off. If he gates like that all season not many riders will get near him.
-
Ben looked really good last night and pulled off the only genuine overtake of the entire main event. But really concerned about Danno who looked quite a way off the pace, but perhaps I was expecting too much after his successful Australian tour. Sheppard at times looked more comfortable on the bike then last season but never stringed four good laps together. Although not to much can be read into it as Jack Kingston looked all out of sorts in three of his four rides.
-
Have they announced a full line up for Friday yet? Found it now

As an ever present home and regular away fan all I can say is I give all 7/8 riders in a kings jacket my full support. As I have stated previously my choice of reserves are Jamie and Liam. I get the impression you know Jamie and if this is the case let him know after his second half rides I consider him part of the family already and will be proud to cheer him on this season.

Ben Fund, Swindon March 8
teaboy279 replied to TitusTokio's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
I won't be slagging him off as don't know the full circumstances but from the outside looking in it appears pretty poor of Roynon to pull out as his equipment is not ready when he has used the fund on multiple occasions.. -
Your wrong there, Mullins was confirmed 6. Sheppard and couzins were going to do battle over the number 7 jacket. Both riders are very raw so it would be a poor reserve Line Up naming both. Hopefully we get Sanderson at 6 and Couzins at 7 as he looked to have better raw pace in his second half appearances last season.
-
Bit of a shocker mullins quitting to go into the marines. I had him down as a potential key man at reserve. Although if we get sanderson that would be a good signing. He impressed me up at scunthorpe last year, he has undoubted speed and with another years experience hopefully he can stay on the bike a bit more.
-
Hopefully there will not be many clashes so we don't lose our new skipper too often. I was Suprised initially when I heard he would be captain as I expected Aaron Baseby to get the role. But in reflection it is the perfect choice, because Ben is always one of the first on track if a rider falls and most notably when young luke harris won a heat a coventry last season Ben was first one over to him to pat him on his back!

Must be 200 odd spaces in front of main grandstand with the overflow car park double the size of the main car park behind the pits. Queues to get in turnstyles nearer to start time can be a bit slow. So to have time to get your programme a beer and a pizza and chips you want to aim to be there 1/2 hour before start time for the bank holiday meets.

If Eastbourne win the league I will eat my hat!
