I ve got no problems with the brummies fans or riders, just one blokes attitude and shear contempt for the sporting side of speedway.Said it before but would rather lose with pride then win by being an ass. That all said it would be great to turn them over

Tbf has Drury submitted any proof of this being a reason. Because as far as I know Mason is out injured anyway with head hand and back injuries. Ayres Clifton and Thomas probably should not of ridden, in fact Clifton only rode because guest Mark Baseby became unavailabe Monday afternoon and had to build his bike when he arrived at the track. That all said if the boot was on the other foot I would also be suspicious. But knowing the Kent lads I can say without any doubt that Shanes and Verge were the only 2 kent riders fully fit Monday. Tbf most brummie fans I ve had contact with supported the date switch (imo could be a bit sooner but hey ho) as they would rather turn us over closer to full strength.

Belle Vue V Rye Raiders,, Frid 12th Aug
teaboy279 replied to waco's topic in National League Speedway
I understand that you know your stuff, and are dedicated to the sport. But put yourself in the position of the young lads learning thier stuff getting knocked all the time, especially from someone who follows the team. I've seen both Locke and Bowdry practice at Lydd this year and both looked great and once they start to click they will go on to have good careers. As Rye have a "senior" side too surely it's a good thing to have a group of novices belonging to the club getting plenty of track time and earning thier stripes. Whilst the senior team reserve pairing get tough races with heat leaders keeping them both sharp and earning a few more quid. Win win to me -

Can see why you get slagged off all the time at various places, do you ever go to Speedway with any other intention of having a pop at the younger riders trying to get started. If Rye House are looking to win things some of you comments may carry water, but as the club and fans have said many times the aim of the Raiders is to develop talent for the Rockets team, just stop having a pop all the time. -
One thing I've never understood is why not have reserves. All sorts of potential things can rule a rider out early on so why not cover that eventuality. For example I could be a nl reserve but due to an injury and PL duties I get to ride in the Fours, first race I gate well and go into turn 1 inside one of the leagues top riders. I get over excited and ride to hard and take out the top dog and give him concussion. The team are effectively out of the meeting whilst my team benifits of at least 3 more races with only 3 riders in it. It's not like these boys are getting fortunes each meeting so I am sure the extra money would be easy enough to swallow on the gate money. Not all teams will have 5 available riders so won't be able to field a reserve but at least give those who do the opportunity too.

Always bet on your opponents then -
I saw a few comments about what he said before I read it, and I put on the Kent facebook page I would not be shocked by anything Drury writes after all these years, how wrong was I??? Lol

Go foot passenger from Portsmouth Ryde pier. You ll then get a free taxi from pier to track, and then track back to boat afterwards. -
Yeah we had to use rr for him as because he was injured. Had he ridden at Glasgow we could of used either rr or guest.

If Luke scores like that regularly then Eastbourne become a whole different beast. Since his debut for Kent he has always had the ability, he just seemed to lack total belief. 2 or 3 weeks like this and I think it could snowball and he will start to fill his massive potential. Couldn't happen to a nicer lad either.

I actually thought this could be pretty tight with no Danny, and Carr Dugard Baseby and Smart all strong at central park. Still don't expect a complete walk over, and certainly expect some good battles in the middle order. -

I am a kent fan and thought heat 8 exclusion was a joke tbf. Really thought we got away with one there. Although speaking to Danny Ayres later, things evened up as he was brought down in 13 but got excluded. -
Have you really just posted that, how old are you? My 6 year old loves places like Cardiff where the music nets blasted out. She gets bored listening to adults talking boring stuff (we have however got her used to shutting up during the official result so we can get the times.

Fair result over all and one I would have accepted prior to tapes up. Heat 8 exclusion was pretty amazing tbf but things evened up when Danny Ayres got knocked off in heat 13. On that subject I do wish fans would save cheering until they know the rider is ok, twas a big roar before he had even bounced off the fence. But effectively a good night with no real controversy affecting the result. Great for Brennan to score a couple of wins, Georgie Wood very good indeed but mom the match for Mr is James Shanes, not sure how many times Ellis has been beaten at Arlington this year but I bet it's not many. Good atmosphere and biggest speedway crowd I ve seen at Arlington for many many years. -
Tbf we were discussing this after the meeting that it's all a sad situation and can't see there being any issues with fans in any future matches. We were made most welcome by the home supporters last month and others have said this about previous visits. I write the updates and as someone else has said the "at it again" referred to the fact it was the 2nd time in a couple of weeks he collided with and injured a reserve in heat 2.Whilst I have written harsh comments on young jack and I am pretty sure I used the term superb to describe him I one later race and pointed out he had overtaken our number 1 as the red came out for a faller. Neither of which I would of done if I was 'anti' Smith. I think I do my updates pretty even handedly but obviously in 50/50 scenarios I am more likely to report it in Kents favour that's human nature, when ever I read other updates I always bare in mind who the texter supports before making any judgements.

I was sat in the stadium with my six year old daughter and heard no bad language. But from the comments I ve read what he said was pretty harmless. Especially as it was aimed at the crowd. Nothing you won't hear with many other sports when stars address the fans and to get them hyped up. Some people are so jealous they want to run people down all the time. Tai met myself and daughter, my cousin and his daughter in the hotel bar. He took time to speak to the kids, posed for pictures and completely lived up to the idol role. Then the next day Tai spotted both kids on our shoulders at the monster rig riot and continually threw shirts at us till they both got 1. Then made sure he signed both the girls new Woffy hats. He is a hero to them both and indeed us adults still. Also I have friends that have never seen Speedway and have no interest in it but consider Tai a legend as they have had kids looked after by Great Ormond Street. Give the lad a break. It seems to me the only fault people can find in him other then the biggoted nationality argument is he said a four letter word that by many accounts if BT Sport had not apologised multiple times very few would of picked up on.

Great to read positive comments both on and off track. This site is not all doom and gloom then -
David Speight was a big suprised for me, prepared to ride the dirt line and was very quick.

For me a sensible punishment and fairer to all would be to deduct 3 points from Mildenhall. Allow all Cradley fans in for free in the rerun. Then all of the (Profit) left after the riders are paid gets donated to the Ben Fund. My feeling is you can't punish 11 clubs for 1 man's actions. That said if the current ruling stands I think rather then any fine instead Jolly should have to pay the riders 20 quid a point for thier average score as a good will jesture.

Birmingham Vs Kent - June 22nd (national Trophy Final)
teaboy279 replied to lucifer sam's topic in National League Speedway
I think if it had been for the footy this would have attracted a fair few neutrals and away fans as it has all the ingredients for a classic. Some of the most exciting riders style wise, in the 3 jacks genuine prospects of British speedway, a scoreline that no one can predict. And not one predictable race result with a track producing multiple lines for 15 races. I really can't wait.
