  1. Gotta have plenty of dirt imo, for 2 reasons 1) without dirt there is very little to promote genuine passing (ie not caused by a mistake) 2) it's my belief that the only way to learn is to do, if tracks were made slicker a nl level then the step up to the the old PL and EL on "grippier" tracks is an even bigger jump to make.
  2. Official figures for the 4 all ticket meetings in 2017 is 3000 on general sale, plus 500 complementarys (for mechanics etc)Capacity set by council or h&e (whichever sets it) is 3500.
  3. Mike0310 I get the impression you think the Devils won't be bottom..... lol Although I have to say I ll be very surprised if anyone but Stoke get the wooden spoon.
  4. Bewley - started his first season in the PL as well as NL. Excelled in national league and more then held his own in the PL.Payne - seemingly around for ages, good solid rider. Doubt he will pull up many trees, but doubt he will let his team down either. Shuttleworth - Been getting gradually better over the last few seasons, know he a strong heat leader and he is still improving each time I see him. Smith - Possibly THE big hope for the future, played a starring role in the Brum side. Despite being at reserve all year he beat many heat leaders, has an exciting style too. With solid riders above him he has the added security of not being under to much pressure. Bickley - along with Jenkins and Brennan he is the sort after kid of 2017, good style and good family backing. Woodall Twins - Got to be honest not seen anything of these lads but I ve heard nothing but good things All in all I have them as clear league favorites on paper.
  5. Not seen anybody suggest any different to above. Seems nailed on to me.
  6. So anyone know how many engines have been bought? Sorry to go on topic
  7. 26 th February mate. http://www.world-sra.co.uk/info-celebration-of-speedway.html
  8. Was he not a gp series podium man a couple of years ago, surely that makes him world class?
  9. The celebration of speedway is in a couple of weeks.
  10. I know kent have got all the changes of dates they required and are just waiting for the others finalise before the BSPA publish them.
  11. Still don't get the cost issue, I can't think of mamy/if any days or evenings out more affordable then speedway? What's more this will be my 6 year old daughters 3rd full season, so no only is it a cheap evening out. It is also a safe family environment for children to play between races. Domestic stock car meetings start at around 15 quid an adult, 20 quid plus if f1stox are racing. And the banger world final ticket price is 35 quid yet foxhall stadium locks people out. The f1 stox world championship charges around 50 quid for a ticket in the stand. Another good comparison is Non League Football, national league speedway is very similar priced. Unlike many sports Speedway allows children in for free, so to say it's to expensive is rediculous. I live to my means and due to poor health and hospital stays recently I have not worked since November, but not spending 15 quid every Monday to watch the kings is unthinkable. In 4 seasons I have missed 3 home meetings, twice for clashes with SWC semi at Lynn and once for a holiday (the meeting missed was the brit U21 semi) Getting new people to go is tough ( much the same with banger racing) but when new folk come (if you are good with the programme and can answer your friends questions concisely) they fall in love with the sport and bring thier own families too. Last year I introduced 3 families to Speedway, 2 of them attended many meetings after thier first. The other family's youngest child did not like the noise but they have said they will try again this year. Clubs really should do more with sending out FREE tickets to lcoal schools and clubs etc. But most promoters are too old and shortsighted. Need Barry Bishop, Martin Widman, and Connor Dugard to show the dinosaurs how to run speedway and to attract new fans and sponsors.
  12. Ayres worst rider in the league, no chance. I fully expect to see him in the main body of the team before the end of the season. And the Latvian could be the signing of the season.
  13. Tbf I can't comment on the brummies supporters club but in my experience of non league footy supporters clubs the people running them are usually a bit precious about it, until I got more heavily involved it felt like them and us type scenario. 14. Use booking.com pay on arrival for nearly all accommodation. (I have to pay for my flat I ve rented for cardiff week 2 months in advance)
  15. Has Spooner been officially announced then?
  16. I ve said it before and will say it again. But if sky had thier man cameras situated on the backstraight. The bulk of the crowd in the main stand would be more visable. The way they film atm even a british final at Monmore during the racing it appears no one is watching. I ve said it before and will say it again. 17. What a promotion team, every club needs a Bishop and a Widman. Really hope they start attracting rediculous crowds this year.
  18. Dugard is no mug, he would have worked this out in advance. Not much you can do about away clashes, but Eastbourne do have a degree of flexibility when it comes to race night, so I doubt he will miss many. Where the double up does affect the lower club is when play offs hit and your rider qualifies with his other club as well.
  19. I mean this is only from memory but I seem to remember a figure of about 7k was mentioned at the fanzone that year when Ben Barker and Eddie kennetts mechanics did the pit crew speed challenge thing. Think they raised more after though, I just recall at the time thinking it was an impressive total. Although to be fair I think people across the country and further afield contributed as well.
  20. Look how much Brum fans raised in a short period to save the old Elite league team.... So if you guys had a whole season to raise cash, you guys could go down the football route of a fans group owning and running the club. 21. I have said it before and I will say it again, his scores last year sometimes did not do his performances justice. I think he will suprise a few this year. People say his away form will be the issue, but he goes well at eastbourne kent buxton and stoke, the tracks he will suggest at are IOW and Lynn maybe BV. The changes in tracks this year should suit him, add 2 small tracks at Arena and Plymouth and take away a big track at Coventry. You have two youngsters with bags of potential to really develop, in ZW you have a potential grand prix star there. And that's without mentioning one of the best riders at this level in Ben Morley who as an added bonus is a track specialist. Fully expect Ben to pick up places in the higher leagues too in the first batch of inevitable magic roundabout of riders. Plenty to be positive about I would say looking in from the outside.
  22. I know initially it looks like the SJL is going to be a south west thing, but would a south east version of this work? Potential to get Lynn, Mildenhall, Ipswich, Lakeside, Rye House, Eastbourne in 1 league and as far as I know each of those sides have no restrictions to prevent this. Maybe something for smarter people then I to sort out for 2018/19.
