Brummies V Stoke Monday May 1st 3 Pm
teaboy279 replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in National League Speedway
I ve only seen Kyle Roberts when he guested for kent at Arlington, and he was a long way off the pace then. Looks to have good equipment though. Just think his season will start when he drops to reserve. -
If your rider is doubling up you can get a guest for him.

It's not a development league anymore it's a genuine 3rd tier. We have at least 3 development leagues though the MDL the SDL and NJL. And as I have stated many times the assets ruling was beyond contemptible, and I suspect illeagal in terms of business laws

Thought they had a warriors live twitter account now, after all the issues we have trying to get a texter down there. #burgerflippingtexters

When you refer to a "pink band" I guess you are referring to the Mitas Red tyre (standard tyre for last few seasons)? Or is there a new "pink" compound as well?
-
Have been hearing about this prefab stadium for a while now, I can accept that a metal stadium could be bolted together quite quickly. But surely the longer you can have a speedway track laid the better it bed in?

You fall off and write a few bikes off, or blow a few engines.... that's where you benefit. Let's say an average basic point wage is 100 quid in the top flight, you need to score 4 before you put any food on the table. Score a max and you ve got a good take home wage for an evenings work. But in the second flight let's say average is 50 quid a point. 8 points is do able for most riders but essentially you need an 8 point average just to wipe your face. It's one of those deals that will be great for some, but pretty disastrous to others.

The last paragraph is exactly what I ve wanted to write about the situation, but never been able to so concisely and clearly.Still think that ruling would be thrown out in a court of law.
-
My understanding is that the bikes are maintained and transported and mechanics supplied by the team, but the rider pays 400 quid per meeting. Can't remember if I am honest where I either read or heard about this, but do recall not doubting the source at time.

So a new era in speedway has started tonight at Central Park Sittingbourne. The very first Southern Development League (SDL) matches took place tonight hosted by the all new Kent Kestrels who hosted a pair of Nomadic teams doing well to keep their team names active. Meeting one featured The Kent Kestrels Vs the Exeter Falcons. Bradley Andrews taking the honour of winning the new leagues first ever race, and his winning time of 62.0 stands as the SDL track record. Three of the Kestrels (Andrews Spooner Couzins) went unbeaten by an opponent and local schoolboy James Laker had a fine showing to score paid 4 in his debut. Whilst the scoreline of 27-8 seems one sided, there were plenty of positives from the guests. Rob Watt suprisingly only scored 1 but another local lad Andrew Palmer scored a very well earn't paid 4 points which once he gains some confidence he will progress towards NL quite quickly. Stevie Anderson looks like he has the basics in place, and Craig Nethercott lead heat 5 for 3 and a half laps before making a mistake coming off turn 2 allowing Couzins to steal the win. The second match featured the Weymouth Wildcats, the heathens opened between the two meetings which slowed down the races but in truth never really caused the riders to much trouble. The first heat started the same as the first meeting with Andrews and Couzins raced to an easy 5-1 over Martin French and faller Niall Strudwick. Heat 2 started in dramatic fashion with Connor Locke flying into the first turn and falling with James Laker coming down as a result. Riders all ok but Laker suffered bike problems which prevented him from entering the rerun and prevented him scoring in his other rides too. With Locke being excluded it left 2 riders with Spooner who got paid maxes in both meetings beating Tom Meakins to the win. The next 3 heats were all shared races with Connor Locke winning in impressive style in heat 3 in so doing becoming the only visiting rider to beat both Andrews and Couzins in the process. With laker having bike issues in the next 2 heats the gap going into the final heat was 4 points so an away 5-1 would lead to a draw. The result was 5-1 but to the home team, with Andrews and Spooner holding off the quick looking Locke, whilst Strudwick was again a faller. Really showed what the league is about, NL reserves taking confidence boosting wins. The next generation like Laker and Palmer, getting that valuable early experience of team speedway and of course the journeyman riders like Watts and Strudwick who show no signs of improvement but have a league they can ride their passion at a competitive level. A great evening of entertainment for 6 quid, what's not to love.

Also sound like Mildenhall did some great team riding again. Danny Halsey and Armo pulled off some great team rides against Kent. Sounds like Ayres did some good team racing too, when you get good team riding even the very best struggle to pass.

Don't riders pay 400 quid per meeting to ride in the team anyway?
-
I ve seen photos on Facebook from stoke, and by stoke standards it looked a very healthy crowd.
-
But in truth how many sports actually publish attendance figures?
-
And hopefully enough fans realise that. Boxall hitting maxes for fun should keep crowd interest to a degree I suppose.
-
It's not changed... (although for me that is part of the charm of the place) My old man says the main speakers, and the furnishings in the bar including carpet are the same as when he rode there back in the 70s
-
You can't award a race on lap 2 waco. Anders is our number 7 and when hit gits 15 on 9th may he is straight into the team. Initially it was Spooner who was temporary cover but with him suprising with his scoring their could well be a 3 way fight for the 2 reserve spots.

Wimbledon Stadium: Some Important News
teaboy279 replied to Parsloes 1928 nearly's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
That is actually what was played after the presentation of the final stock car meeting, to be quite honest watching the Facebook videos of people walking around the track taking in the iconic venue one last time with that playing in the background was pretty emotive. -
They can if you have any available. Both Jack Thomas and Luke Clifton had new yellow tyres and they were unsafe to use after 3 heats. I believe completed their rides on used reds. Not sure about lukes but their is a picture of jacks on his Facebook. The compound seems not too bad on moist tracks with plenty of dirt, but when tracks are prepared with very little dirt because of forecasted rain, the compound seems to overheat and disintegrate.

Get your point IS but surely if they don't develop a MK 2 now, they will be behind the times. Constantly evolving a MK 2 means if a competitor say GM or JAWA produce their own "low maintenance" engine but with improved performance (or cheaper price)GTR will have a product ready to compete. I hope more engine manufacturers do produce longer life engines and try to drag the cost of speedway down. If cheaper alternatives can be made to be competitive (and this applies to all speedway bike parts) it really will make speedway (outside the gps and polish top flight) more viable and secure the long term future of club speedway across Europe.
