  1. This conversation pops up annually, but I don't think their are many more injuries then any other year (in fact probably less this year, then the last few). And certainly far less "life changing" injuries then the "glory days" Ask my dad how many friends he lost during his career and there is a list, ask a modern rider the same question and for most riders the answer will be zero. Just more reported in this day and age with the interweaving etc etc
  2. How can you pull out of a cup in JULY because of no available dates, that can't be right surely?
  3. Kent has 2000 seats, not sure on total capacity but must be in the 6k - 10k range.
  4. Who is James Chattin please? Not a name I ve heard.
  5. They are at set times, check the sgp website, but you wanna try queuing 20 mins or so before the start time of the session. Although with heavy rain all day I dare say the fanzine won't be as busy this year.
  6. Castrol r is certainly still used.
  7. We have rr for Hopwood Morley for Bowen Coles for Stoneman
  8. Just for semantics Marson is not a guest (to be a guest you need to be in another teams declared 1-7) He is riding as a 3 point unattached rider.
  9. Andrew Palmer is a lovely young lad, I first came across him at Lydd last year. He has come on leaps and bounds and did not disgrace himself at National League level. Will be a steal of a 3 point signing in 2018.
  10. If it makes it a bit tighter then it would of been, surely that makes the fixture more attractive?
  11. Portwood beat Spooner and O Keefe to win the amateur meeting at kent recently. Looked awful in his first and by the end of the night he was very good. Certainly think the lad has potential. And certainly will score at reserve.
  12. Kent got of to an awesome start, but unfortunately the nasty spill for Wilson in heat 5 just sent the whole night flat. Hopefully Ben is not as serious as feared. Credit where credit is due, 40 mins or so before the curfew only 4 heats had been completed, but the ref and the riders cracked on and if not for a last heat stoppage the meeting would have been completed. Heat 4's initial staging was as good as any speedway you could see anywhere in the world, with Stoneman and Coles passing and repassing each other for fun. 3 kent riders hit maxes tonight, and stoneman was unbeaten before heat 15 so as the heat was not completed does his exclusion count in the statistics? But nights like these are so deflating. If iow didn't have bad luck this season they would have no luck at all. Martin or Barry must of broken a mirror on the quiet over the winter. Of course the paramount thought tonight is Ben Wilson, let's hope we wake up to some decent news in the morning.
  13. I guestimated about 750-800, biggest crowd I ve seen since they came into NL, and certainly bigger then a few EL meetings I attended there. Probably about half the crowd that a big standard stock Car meeting attracts.
  14. I reckon closer to 48-42, but I certainly don't think it's impossible. But with the quality of Mattie Bates at reserve, if he is on form he has the potential to decimate the kent lower order.
  15. Just hope tonight's thunderstorms don't prevent Eastbourne having a practice during the day, leading to a cancellation... But always a good night when the 2 sides meet.
  16. Tbf I suspect Conner welcomes this sort of thing greatly. If it gets an extra 20 or 30 people through the turnstiles he will be the one to benefit. Not sure if we will get the following that was going down for the original staging but should still be a decent amount. I know despite the result what a good time we had down there for the play off loss last year, so hopefully we can create the same sort of party atmosphere and enjoy the the evening regardless of the result. Eastbourne are clear favorites but kent possess enough quality that an off night for the home team and the shock is possible. I m looking forward to it anyway.
  17. I had that 2 years in a row on sky....
  18. Really bad night for Kent, Luke Clifton shattered femur and possible broken tib and fib plus further rib injuries, and Skipper Luke Bowen fractured arm and torn rotary cuff. Hopefully both make full recoveries.
  19. Number of Kent fans travelling up too, unfortunately not me
  20. Just bumping this up to see how we are doing.
  21. No Jack has been back on his GMs the last couple of meetings, and was a GM he blew up.
  22. Arnie, can I just say a compliment like that from someone's whose opinion I respect, is very much appreciated. Thank You.
