Meeting cancelled due to track conditions. Gutted for all those who had booked hotels to go to this and the 4's but overall glad we don't have to worry about our riders getting hurt needlessly.
-
Problem with Embleton is, I believe he is from Newcastle which is not ideal for a Monday 6.30 start.
-
Can't disagree with that, but the engine configuration is set by the authorities, not the riders. You often hear the comment, "the throttle works both ways" which 20 years ago was valid, you roll off the the throttle now and initially accelerate. Uprights were safer and more rider friendly, but the same as anything in life it's hard to go backwards.

Think Shansie was a 28 day signing for Brum, any changes I suspect would involve bringing in our own asset. But I suspect to bring him in it would mean at least 3 changes.
-
I d suggest, the next time someone gets hurt there, it could lead to a compensation claim. After the amount of injuries this year. Speedway us dangerous enough without riders having the extra worry about the race surface falling apart underneath them. I am dreading my lads riding there tomorrow tbh.

No fear about Rowe, he has been improving all season, and is probably at least a second a race fastest then last season. Taylor clearly has bags of skill, but seems to lack confidence and appears to wait for the other 3 riders to get to turn 1 before starting. When he does gate he can and has ridden off into the distance.

The battered and bruised Stoneman takes the weekend off, meaning we have Leon Flint guesting for him at Stoke. But we are forced to use RR Monday in our crucial league clash with the Bees, and that is a concern.
-
.The only way we can make influential changes is by dropping one of the top 3, and the only way I can see the Kent fans swallowing that is through injury. There simply isnt a 3 pointer out there barring maybe Embleton that would instantly score points. And with Taylor's average your probably looking in the same pool of riders to replace him.

I don't know what sort of wage a role like that would command. But it will only be funded in house, and there in lays the problem. One thing I believe could bring in extra funds is by offering out title league sponsorship for free for the remainder of the year, and see if that could secure a full paying sponsor next year.

I have complete sympathy with the smaller clubs and rising costs etc, and respect what they do and how they do it. BUT What often seems to be forgotten is that costs have drastically increased for riders too. Look at fuel prices on the roads for starters before you enter the realms of "bespoke" speedway parts and service bills that make the eyes water. I wonder now with the number of development league teams whether a tier between mdl/sdl level and level national league level. Using old conference league rules around she and ability. It clearly is a situation with no easy fix, but in this day and age (probably any day age) wage caps or similar sanctions just don't work. Of course if you have money you are going to want to buy the best it's human nature. What is obvious to me is that National League clubs need to be sat at the BSPA AGM and not set aside. Radical changes are needed but that won't be achieved with the current system. The next BSPA major vote should be, picking someone to employ as Independent Chairman and let them start making decisions. The current system works for no one, decisions by comitee always leaves diluted solutions.

I thought the sponsored pass was a great idea initially. But once it started, like the return says I also had no affinity to any side and lost interest after about 4 heats. -
Flint and Palin scored 9 and 10 in semi 1. Nathan Ablitt then came 2nd in semi 2 with 13 points. Final was due at 4pm yesterday, but is due to start in just over half hour as others have posted.

Quite right, Galliard Homes let Wimbledon run into disrepair over a number of years until it was cheaper to pull down then to refurb. I can only see big business doing the same thing to Brandon. The one thing Coventry do seem to have is councillors on their side, which means in my opinion. Brandon will never see racing again but a return to the borough is not entirely out of the question.

Stoneman has been very impressive this term and must be in the mix.

Buxton Hitmen v Belle Vue Colts - NL - 3/6/18
teaboy279 replied to fubar's topic in National League Speedway
You gotta feel a performance like that, must keep the fires burning in the promotion. All thier youngsters chipping in, and giving a reminder of the buxton ethos". If they could just get another heat leader in, the could make home meetings a bit of a fortress. -

No problem with no result til day 2, like a 2 leg meeting really. -
Quality of tracks(amount and quality of shale) have changed though. And untill speedway reaches the 1980s and uses transponders race times are at best a rough guide. So many variables when you have some oldboy in the box with a stop watch. For example Adam Ellis hold track record at Kent..... Watch the race on dvd, andhe is at least a second slower then the time given.

Since Cradley stopped winning, Kent have had the biggest National League crowds consistently. Can't see that changing over a quid. I take my 8 year old daughter(into her 4th full season) she gets in for free and will do for 4 or 5 years more. So that 16 quid gives me quality father/daughter time as well as an exciting evenings racing.

I expected Ben to be struggling at home (well I say struggle I expected 8s and 9s initially. Thought by August time he would start banging in maxes) As you say it will have done him wonders for his big track form.

We have had 2 price increases since our existence, not bad when you compare it to other things. In 2013 I could get 20 Mayfair for 5.99. Cheapest pack of fags now is £8.30. Back then a pint of lager was 3.20 per pint, you d be lucky to pay that in a social club now. I always buy a programme so I always count the entry cost including programme. 16 quid it costs me to watch at central park, which is identical to our nearest rivals Eastbourne. So on balance it's not a great problem.
