  1. Had his dedication matched his ability then he would have at least made the battle for team GB spots, of that I have no doubt.
  2. Kent riders held it for about 60 percent of the time till it disappeared. Very popular extra race with our fans, but often sniffed at by other clubs. Love to see it return....
  3. It would now appear pretty clear that he lied to another club and then in a public statement via the club's official media outlets. With that said how is his position even still tenable.
  4. I went through the heats and saw very few heat advantages for the Devils. I 'll have humble pie before bed.
  5. The riders I have spoken too said the track was way to heavy on the inside. As I say I was not there, and only spoke to the lads after a few beers on Saturday in Cardiff....
  6. Monday was a blank date, hence why both Nathan and Anders had holidays. The fact that the club ran the fixture and therefore not taking away fixtures from season ticket holders should be commended not criticised. Losing Bowen will be equally painful off track as on it, as Luke's report and willingness to help the youngsters can not be underestimated.
  7. Spoken to a number of lads and apparently the ref nearly did not start the meeting as the track was terrible....
  8. And then Cockle quits buxton...
  9. At no point were Buxton right to object (assuming they did) imo. The result was a given regardless, the BSPA had said it was ok, Gazza hardly pulled up any trees all them years ago, and how great for Leon to have a ride.
  10. Even the players don't care about the third fourth place play off match, I d suspect it won't even top the rankings of tv available at that time. What I suspect will of affected crowds is the 2 day memorial banger meeting for Sussex banger racer Dave King taking place at Mildenhall. Dave raced at the track from the early 90s till last lead as had many friends around Eastbourne.
  11. Obviously we through the air fence, I clearly saw Sam heading fencewards fast, and into to the path of Campos and Bailey. Next thing bikes and riders a going all directions not overly sure who hit what. All started with the smallest of touches from the dirt deflector to Sam's foot just as they were tipping into b1. Said to a couple of people trackside, that actually a bigger initial impact would of caused less carnage.
  12. It could be argued yes, but the speed and angle he hit the fence would have been a hospital job what ever fence was there. Was pretty sketchy, one of those crashes that suck the life out the stadium.
  13. Think the majority of riders were sat in their pit chairs sunbathing on the motorway. Believe at the point when it was cancelled it would of been Stoneman,Rowe,Hampshire, and Laurence vs Shuttleworth.
  14. Not sure the answer to the Rye scenario for the rest of 2018. But I think for the longer term future of British Speedway fixed race nights in the top league is essential. We can't expect to get much assistance from international federations if we sign up to an agreed calender then just choose to run on other countries nights. With around 50 percent of Saturday nights taken up with fim or one sport championships and qualifiers, and the rest Poland have priority on so it's just no viable to have Saturday speedway in the UK if we are to run a "top" level league. I also think that with mid season drop outs not so uncommon there should be some sort of fund at governing body level that would ensure financially crippled clubs could furfill their fixtures. Meaning riders don't get made unemployed mid season, the league table won't be warped, and most importantly any attempts to save the clubs future would have half a season of an active team to get backing for, rather then trying to resurrect a dormant club. Think the BSPA needs to call an emergency meeting to discuss 2019 now, and get plans finalised. As I see it there are 2 options. 1) continue to try to run an 'elite league' with as many top stars as we can attract. 2) or complete reform and go to one big league split north/south, top 3 or so from both divisions meet in a mini league to decide champions. With a smaller conference style league below.
  15. Whilst on the face of it that would appear correct. But except Kent (mondays) and Brum (Wednesdays) none of the CL or NL meetings are on the same night so their floating fans can pick any top flight match they fancy under the FRN arrangement.
  16. I 've always considered MacDonald a complete wobbler, but despite his falls he looked far faster on a bike then I 've seen before. I d say he is definitely worth bearing with for the whole season as I think he will come good.
  17. Meeting cancelled due to track conditions. Gutted for all those who had booked hotels to go to this and the 4's but overall glad we don't have to worry about our riders getting hurt needlessly.
  18. Problem with Embleton is, I believe he is from Newcastle which is not ideal for a Monday 6.30 start.
  19. Can't disagree with that, but the engine configuration is set by the authorities, not the riders. You often hear the comment, "the throttle works both ways" which 20 years ago was valid, you roll off the the throttle now and initially accelerate. Uprights were safer and more rider friendly, but the same as anything in life it's hard to go backwards.
  20. Think Shansie was a 28 day signing for Brum, any changes I suspect would involve bringing in our own asset. But I suspect to bring him in it would mean at least 3 changes.
  21. I d suggest, the next time someone gets hurt there, it could lead to a compensation claim. After the amount of injuries this year. Speedway us dangerous enough without riders having the extra worry about the race surface falling apart underneath them. I am dreading my lads riding there tomorrow tbh.
  22. No fear about Rowe, he has been improving all season, and is probably at least a second a race fastest then last season. Taylor clearly has bags of skill, but seems to lack confidence and appears to wait for the other 3 riders to get to turn 1 before starting. When he does gate he can and has ridden off into the distance.
