23rd September as part of a double header with Plymouth. Could be crucial for both away sides, so hopefully Buxton get a decent gate for this.
-
Both teams at full strength (Couzins in for O Keefe) for what will be a serious test for the home side. There should be some good racing served up, but for Kent to get anything from the match will be considered a massive shock to speedway world. Mildenhall won in a tight match last time they visited, and they were missing Drew Kemp on that occasion. Danny is obviously a club hero and knows the track well, if the track is good expect him to be track record hunting in heat 1. Drew,Jordan,Ryan, and Josh represent 4 further number 1 quality riders. In reserve Matt Marson is hitting form with a man of the match performance against Eastbourne, and one of my fav riders the luckless but courageous Sam Bebee, who hopefully now can avoid injury and kick on. Essentially for me it is the greatest National League side assembled. And with no skull duggery either. They picked their team like everyone else, and looked strong from the off. But I don't think anyone thought Kemp would do quite as well as he has, and the improvements in Kinsley has been awesome. All in all tonight as a Kent fan I go there with no expectations, other then getting some good close action and a safe evening to all 14 riders. I think if I was Kent TM I would be telling the boys there is absolutely no pressure to score tonight, go and enjoy it and see what results materialise.

I have zero luck with Buxton, every time I plan too or actually go it's off, every time I can't go it's on.
-
Oh yes, Ellis Perks scoring 18 from reserve and Buxton only 5 riders. Last Stag meeting to date.
-
With only 3 Sundays left, which one are Kent going up on? Not seen any news as yet from either club, but as this stands to be the clubs biggest meeting of the season there should be quite a few of us looking to make travel and accommodation reservations.

Scunthorpe 2014

I thought the crowd was as big as the tv Prem meets there this season. The place is still so clinical and not welcoming as such, think that is born out with the real lack of children running around the place. Since my last visit the food/beer prices are more reasonable, and you can get out for a smoke now. I think a sprinkle of the Warrior way could really help that out, but you can't knock the professional presentation. The young lady on the infield was very impressive with her knowledge and presented the meeting effortlessly. Perhaps it was because we only one heat, but I was a tad disappointed with the action. Could well be because of the high expectations we have of the best track in the country. Was the grading last night typical? The tractor only seemed to grade the very middle of the track. That's put a big hit on our play off hopes and now makes the buxton away fixture essential to be rearranged before the cut off.

Bomber had a blinder at the last gp.
-
Yeah I think the GB world long track side is Zach W, Shansie, Adam Ellis and Bomber

Another meeting hard to call, Bickley on championship duty brings in Wilson for the hosts. Hurry is on grasstrack duties in France, so all time record points scorer Ben Morley steps in at #1, also missing on championship duty is Jack Thomas, and he is replaced by another Kent fans favourite Georgie Wood. O Keefe comes back in for Couzins at reserve. With the potential for our away Buxton match not happening grabbing some points here becomes vital, with Eastbourne away and Mildenhall home coming in the next few days points are gonna be tough to come by.

Tbf you know with terrace talk the finer details aren't discussed, when gets round to choosing a rider to drop, none deserve it. Think William is pretty close to fitness, and Alex is banged about a bit too. Jamie been doing a good job for us as well (but I suspect we will try to preserve his 3.0 for next year.) Kent have always stuck with our riders when it comes to the play offs and we 've got stung by the likes of Brennan, Kemp, Edwards etc. Let's face it Mildenhall have assembled the best NL side probably ever, and only severe back luck in the trophy meetings will prevent them clearing up the trophies. And Eastbourne always have their home advantage over 2 legs. Brummies have a stellar top 4, and Kent are strong right through the team, most discussions went along the lines that whilst both sides looked great Monday, both will almost certainly need a heavy hitter "ringer" at reserve.
-
The hope in Kent is that he may ride 4 meetings and the play offs for us. (*fat thumbs Should say 3 meetings)
-
Despite his big upturn in form I think Callum Walker could be victim of this, with him effectively being rested so a guest can be used for Danyon. That gives you back 4 heat leaders and walker rr = 1 heat leader and 3 reserve rides. Which is far stronger then 3 heat leaders and, Hume rr = flint, walker plus 2 reserve rides.

Kent v Brummies NL Mon 27th Aug

The quality of the racing would have graced any tv screens, some real belting stuff and an important 3 pts. The Hume injury took the buzz out of the occasion. 're the track. In general it's the best it's been, and the racing only backs that up. But for some reason a hole keeps appearing on bend 4 after 10 or so heats. I assume it's a hangover from the poor shale problem clubs faced earlier in the season. Spoke to Leon for the first time tonight, and what a thoroughly pleasant and mature young man, his mechanical problems he suffered in his first ride was in fact a broken saddle bracket so no surprise he was struggling. With the top 4 the brummies have and walker looking far better, you are one ringer 3 pointer away from being unbeatable imo. On the terraces the brummies fans appreciated the Kent supporters initial reaction to Daynons fall, who were shouting to the track staff and first aiders not to touch him or the bike so he could push home for the point. Unfortunately as it panned out this was not possible, it was nice of Danyons dad? who came back round and gave us a quick update on his condition. On a positive note an amazing £1122.90 was collected on the evening by both sets of riders for the annual Ben fund collection. -

That has drained quickly, as was water logged ten mins ago. Fingers crossed it's on with not too great of a delay. -
2nd tier speedway next year?
-
I heard on last week's speedway tavern, the Nigel Pearson had suggested clubs like Brum Eastbourne and Kent were to join a revamped 2nd tier. Think it needs addressing and announced as soon as possible.
-
Well our boys continue to excel in the face of adversity. With a full strength side I think any team including Mildenhall will not fancy taking us on. So proud of the young lads who have all vastly outscored their averages. Rather then getting down after the mauling at Arlington they all rolled their sleeves up and cracked on with it.
-
Well if that's the case, and all other statements you 've made have been proved factual over the season. I whole heartedly apologise. Still shabby work from the bspa imo.
-
Hi Laurence, is having rider mascots (to walk out with the riders on parade) something you 've considered? I know if priced correctly the Kent rider(s) would get snapped up straight away. Also in regard to the rider sponsorship, I assume we can pick the riders we want to sponsor once the line up is announced?

For me it's a very grey area. As Tim's personal stats will not show that meeting. But clearly a few hundred people will have seen him ride as far as the first corner so will consider that he had made an appearance. Where for me it gets cloudy is I don't understand how you can make an appearance in a meeting that did not count. I know if you play a football match that gets abandoned the appearance does not count, but ironically any yellow or red cards you received stand. Made even less simple at international level where Fifa would not count an abandoned match in a players national appearances,BUT our FA (and media statisticians) still counts it as an England cap. For the record I have no problem with the ruling with Hurry, rules are rules even if it's goes against you. On paper Perry, Clegg and Shuttleworth should decimate most teams including the Kent side. But they have already beaten Plymouth without having a number 1, and Stoke riders have not had a run of home matches to get dialled in. So really don't know how to call this. I think getting any points will be tough but the target must be a win of some sort. With a full side we should of been aiming for all 4. Hard to know if the track work has improved the circuit as last week's meeting was a tad wet by all accounts. I wish both sides a safe evening and that the travelling contingent have something to cheer at the end of it.

Although Plymouth got a facility for Webster who had not made an official appearance. (Meeting abandoned before heat 10, so does not count)
