Was 30'c last year, me an the pregnant mrs decided to take the 1 hr 10 min walk to practice from our hotel..... except when I checked that it must of been cycling time or something as the walk took just over 3 hours and when we got to the stadium we found no refeshment outlets open at all! Luckily for me I spotted one of Monster Joe's mates who at least know well enough to nod to at various places, and he sorted me out a few cans. Cant remember the temperature on race day but again its was shorts and t shirt weather, but where the fan zone was, was a bit of a sun trap and a dust bowl. So 18-22 degrees sounds nice and comfortable to me. 8 more sleeps till I set off on the train.. cant wait. Better still I ve got Loomer road to visit before then too....

The question was asked mainly bend 2 in the post meeting press conference by a member of the audience. I firstly put it to Ben Morley as he has done the most laps of central park and he said he saw no problems out there and the track was as good as ever, and he still loved the place. I then put it to Nathan Ablitt who has gone through the fence a couple of times already. And he basically said the track is fine, and consistent and it's just a case of learning how to ride the deep dirt that's out there. But for sure having to abandon a busy bank holiday fixture will do nothing positive for the club, although today despite the delays, actually the county ambulance arrived pretty swiftly, and the transfer seemed to take far less time this week. So actually a potential abandonment after only half a meeting being staged was avoided, mainly due to the riders of both teams getting on with it after the enforced break.

Yeah, i am a tight wad and stood on the gravel in front of the temporary stands. Think the tickets worked out about 30 quid for the 2 nights. And whilst everyone else was moaning about queues, we had a beer tent, burger van, and toilet block just for our section which had 200 or so people in each night, so we escaped any queuing as well.
-
The viewing on bends 3 and 4 is far greater then you would expect looking down at it from the stands. I watched the world cup race off and final there and dont remember think my view or enjoyment was impaired in anyway.

That dont sound like a quick fix.

Seeing the videos from the bangers at the stan woods on Saturday the place was completely saturated. And well over 100 bangers racing , whilst not as bad as the F1 stock Cars will have certainly caused a few issues as well.

I have also considered that he will probably get an Ipswich spot at some stage this year. Which will add more clashes inevitably and I believe rules will give Ipswich priority over both Kent and Sheffield. But what you can never question with Drew is commitment. The sort of lad that will thrive off 4 or 5 meetings a week, where some others just would have the equipment or support to do so. As a rule I dont like doubling up and want to see it gone, that being said Drew is the sort of lad the doubling up rule was brought into help. Rather then just throw him to the wolves it allows young brits to continue the winning mentality at the lower level, whilst honing thier skills chasing better riders in the higher league.

Yes that's been confirmed on the SGP website. For Warsaw at least although Greg's statement gave me the impression he will take a few months off rather then a few weeks. Thoughts are with his family of course, hopefully it's all been caught early and after a bit of time thier lives return back to normal.

Will come find you and say hello mate.

I see the result has been amended to a 16-17 scoreline. The elligability of Chad's 4th ride being questioned I believe. -

If by the time the first gp happens and no TV deal is in place, I am certain it will then be available in your zone. The fact that it isn't already would suggest a TV deal is not far off being signed imo. -
I think Len takes as much pride in trying to help young brits make thier way in the sport as he does silverware. Which is great but when you support a team it's nice to have a plastic pot the cheer for every now and again. This year certainly has the potential. Of course Kent riders have succeeded in the NLRC both Boxall and Morley taking that accolade, and Morley and Ayres are still reigning pairs champions. We would have won the fours in 2013 at stoke, bar a blinding last lap of the last race from Lewis Blackbird if I recall taking the win for the heathens. Then again in 2015 at Coventry when Rob Shuttleworth knocked of James Shane's and injured him when Kent were ahead. We ve also had a National trophy final and 4 play off semis, so it's fair to say Kent has been far from unsuccessful. We just need to add that elusive first team championship medal. Hopefully this year is the year.

We are booked on a train from Warsaw to Berlin leaving at 12.37 Sunday lunchtime, I have a feeling we might be making a diversion now. 1 random question obviously we will be travelling with luggage, we cant be the first people to have the problem of what to do with said luggage (probably a holdal) as I assume they aren't going to let us take them in the stadium...lol

A friend of mine was heavily involved with an app in development, that was to provide live commentary from less media covered sports. I believe she invested an awful lot of money and time into the venture, but as time when on the programmer who was solely interested in football, basically made an app for non league football and speedway never featured and my friends fingers got burnt. What I do think if the initial outlay is not too expensive, is some kind of commentary to head sets. Much like what you used to get at cardiff. People wishing to have race commentary would simply purchase or hire a headset at the turnstiles and listen in. Probably not viable with current crowd levels but maybe worth trialling at matches with guaranteed big gates, like the British final or play off matches. (For those matches you could surely just plug into the bt sports audio??) But commentary over the horrible tinny sound systems at many tracks is gonna be inaudible inside the stadium, and carry a fair distance towards neighbour's homes. In the latest planning battles at Kent, some residents cited the running commentary as unbearable and prevent conversations in the back garden from 6.30-8.30 every Monday, but like as this thread suggests, we have never had race commentary, and I often have to text Derek and Glenn in the box to ask for race times etc because the Pa is so patchy. Imagine the complaints if it actually work.....

Team manager was John Sampford, then John and Chris shared the role. When the Raiders re entered the NL John went there which left Chris in sole charge. After Len sold rye house John returned and ran the mdl team. I wondered if the reference was about Nikko Day, I ve never actually dealt with him face to face but when you hear people describe him he seems to polarise opinions.

Fundamentally it's the same people now as it was when we started. Chris Hunt joined in 2014 after IOW folded. Len and Roger (stadium lease holder and owner of cearnsport) have promoted since day one. Cta fire were title sponsors for a couple of years, but now mainly sponsor individuals but are still full time supporters. Then we had Slyde who sponsored up until last season. I dont even think much has changed behind the scenes, we now have a new commercial manager who is trying to generate new ideas. But by and large it is very similar to the set up as was when set up in 2013.

Lambert not started the season in great form, his gating being particularly patchy and only scored 2 for Lublin last night. And Bewley returning to fitness seems to be struggling away from the wide open spaces of the NSS so this meeting could be wide open. I think Kemp may be a good shout for a podium. How many riders qualify for the world u21s?

IOW vs Mildenhall NT 25/4/19

If sport was fair, the people with all the money and best equipment would win every sport. It's the surprises, upsets, and controversy that keeps us all engaged. -
Think I read 3.30 somewhere.looking forward to my annual visit. The track could well get a thorough testing today with around 200 pre 1970 bangers racing at the stan woods memorial and the weather forecast isn't great. By all accounts queues are already at the top of Loomer road.

IOW vs Mildenhall NT 25/4/19
teaboy279 replied to Sings4Speedway's topic in National League Speedway
Hopefully iow can avoid injuries and losing riders to other commitments this year. Winning most of thier home meetings and picking the odd point ip away should secure a first ever play off place for the new promotion. And I dont think there is anyone in speedway that we begrudge the Warriors some much deserved on track success. Mildenhall will always go well at home, but away Danny Ayres may lack the back up required. Marson went well especially the second half of last season and will surely add further strength to the side on the road. -

I did think that, didn't he go through the boards on the backstraight, so no small accident. -

I think Wallinger as a heat leader and Vasey as manager is the main reason most peoples tip Mildenhall to be at the bottom end this year.
