Kent v belle vue play off semi 2nd leg tonight
teaboy279 replied to ruckerroo's topic in National League Speedway
Why would the ref need to inspect the track as no one fell because of it, riders were able to ride close together and there was overtaking. Kyle Bickley has said on facebook that it wasnt the track it was the large rain drops causing poor visability. A race or 2 after the short break when the visitors wanted the meeting off, Dan Gilkes caught Rob Ledwith, rode a lap outside him and then took the lead, not sure if it was deliberate but it showed you could ride close to others with too many issues. A lot of experts on here and facebook who werent even at the meeting. I had riders from both teams say the track was better then friday at NSS. And in anycase when a track gets tricky surely it wipes out the home advantage and helps the away team. A couple of quotes from Colts riders and management after friday suggested the lead was smaller then it could of been as the rain made the traffic different to normal. So a wet track in Manchester helps the away team and an equally wet track in Kent's helps the home team!?!?! -
One of the turnstiles does take card payments.

With 4 weeks left of the season I dont think there is much chance of not getting the meetings done. -

Which just shows a rider who is given a reserve spot with no pressure for a season, and a rider prepared to travel around the country picking up scraps week in week out, with many 0s whilst he hones his skills. Can really reep benefits the following season. I think the key thing now is that the young riders have had better schooling off of the track, and many have heads on thier shoulders well beyond thier years. I can think of about a dozen or so riders under the legal age of drinking that not only have the ability but also the mentality to reach the top. What British speedway should do is build from the bottom and build up speedway with this new breed of cool young kids making thier way up through the ranks. -
I already know the answer, long way to go for a carvery and ice cream but thems the chances you take.Be watching out for Mrs Flippers photos later....

Not for speedway but we went there for a car show when we in near by Emmen for a banger meeting. Literally across the road from the station (although we had to walk to far side to get into show) -
Is all this speculation or is there a press release I ve missed?

Better race track then Leicester for certain. Have spoken with Jason earlier in the year, and track availability or the rent for southern tracks isn't great.i fully understand his options are little to none. But still find it frustrating the distances southern fans have to trouble for shared events. Hopefully Lynn or Mildenhall can be used next year as at least that's only a 4hr rnd trip. -
For anyone interested on Sunday there is a massive unlimited banger farewell meeting before the track gets destroyed and turned into housing, this is supported by brisca stock cars so there will be some racing amongst the crashing.
-
That will probably force the hands of stand alone clubs IOW, Kent and Mildenhall to do likewise or fold i would suspect?

We actually have permission tobring Monday- friday 1 night per week. Although the 6.30 start stands on all nights. I believe There was a admenment added for a 7pm start 9pm curfew to run in the TOP flight only on fridays. Further restrictions of availability are the dog meetings but ad Roger owns both sports in the stadium I would imagine that, that is not an insurmountable problem. To clarify my earlier post under the 2 main leagues I see an mdl standard of league but probably run to current NL format or even a 13 heat format. And ran solely on weekends.

When Kent joined the league, Cradley would travel everywhere in numbers, big numbers. And were often many clubs book balancer when Cradley were in town. This season there were a handful at best. The big support must still be there somewhere, and with that fanbase I am convinced most decent business could take the club on and make it work EVEN as a nomadic club. And i dont think there are many other clubs if any that could say the same* (*re the nomadic bit)

Think it's pretty clear we will be a 2 tier sport next year. How that pans out i dont know, but I imagine something like below. I have been told a few times by people high up in the sport that the top flight has to be a ten 10 league for a least 2 broadcasters that may take on the rights. 10 in top flight 14-16 in second And mdl below that Basically if we push all riders on a 6 point NL average up a league, it would eradicate doubling up and throw out the nonsense that gets rolled out about rider shortages. Water down the 2nd tier so it's not so close to the top flight and therefore hopefully reduce costs.

Didnt robbo produce an email from the local council saying that the current owners did not want to or were unable to get thier own land if the council found some? Something in my head is saying so. Some Cradley fans in Prince of Wales yesterday were jeering NP, which shows something is going seriously amiss within what was once a great club.

I think if everyone turns up, there are enough people in there to take point each other that 12 or 13 points may take the title this year. -
I think the main reason the NL fixture is not representative of the potential support for it was, challenge matches dont get people excited for thier own riders, barring Anders Rowe the rest of the sprocket team was a select side.
-
Glad it was well supported, such a shame. Being the eternal optimist I hope it's not the end but fear the worst.

Looking ahead could be a tense week for Warriors,Heathens and Fen Tiger fans all vying for that 4th spot. Deserves more coverage then it's getting to be honest. These end of season showdowns have the potential to have inflated crowd sizes if the significance was a bit more pushed inside the sports media, and also the local press.

One of the best things I ve seen live tbh, think I had the pleasure of updating the meeting as well.
