Poole Pirates 2021
teaboy279 replied to Pirates Of Poole's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I believe it's the season where he could kick on a bit in europe and I wonder if he will finish the season in the championship if regular Polish rides start to appear. We need a few more to make that extra step to start getting a few potential Tai woffindens up to speed Think Ellis is the most likely gp rider in line behind Lambert and Bewley. Then we have a cluster of teenagers whom if they progress at current rate are hopefully 2-3:years off making the jump too. If Ellis does do the full season, I d be surprised to see him top the averages in the league. -
It's a stronger team then they may have had just a couple of weeks ago. If riders dont perform they ll be replaced anyway. With 6 sides making the play offs any side going unbeaten at home will qualify regardless of away results unless they are very unlucky. Never like to see teams written off before a wheel is turned, it's not the strongest team on paper, but nothing is ever won on paper in speedway.

Brooks has posted on facebook saying he Hope's to get a club next year as he is not in Mildenhalls 7

Theres also been sittingbourne and iwade crusaders back in the old conference days.

That was a suggestion being considered i understand. For me the National League side should stay as the kings and the championship side given a new name. I like stats and my records will quickly become a mess otherwise..... lol
-
I think they will be nearly unbeatable at home with that team tbh. Especially if the reserves get dialled in during pre season practice.

Every time I saw him in the last 2 seasons he has been mega impressive, and his scores at both levels (less soon the road in the cl) have been good. Certainly would be a massive loss to the sport if he drifted away. If he wants to ride in 2020 I am convinced there is clubs at both levels that would snap him up. He is one of those riders that with the right financial backing and a sports psychologist type person looking after him off track he has the natural ability to rise to the very top. I think your probably right in the fact that there are many people who would love him in the kent team, so he is very much marmite on that front. Tbf up until a season ago he was very much on my wish list before his average crept up so far. I hope all the National League side at Kent are familiar faces, with the vastly reduced schedule it may be possible to attract a Jack Thomas type rider who may not of wanted a national league team spot with 20 odd fixtures. I like the idea of the riders left without a club entering a pool of riders available to guest, so riders arent completley frozen out like in previous seasons.

Well the Peta spokeswoman did her research. "The stadium should open but only for the car racing"...... Someone has googled speedway and got a picture of Nascar come up I reckon....
-
Wheres that from mate, the speedwaygb site?

Ablitt quit mid season / Wood didnt turn out for one team but did another. Massive difference. And you only have to talk to Kent Fans, there is a massive list of things he has done to upset people, which is why is he is so universally disliked at CP.
-
I think a lot depends on what the bigger picture plan is, are we looking to build a winning side or a side with potential recruits for the CL team, or combination of both?
-
Wood would be the most unpopular signing of all time at CP.

(Some) Japanese Speedway on C4
teaboy279 replied to martinmauger's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Tbh once they get away that's not a poor standard. So probably a sensible place for Eurosport/Onesport to look at if they intend to expand. -
I was lucky enough to chat to a few FIM officials in the pits at Warsaw, and selling out Warsaw twice over still doesn't generate the profit a half filled Millenium stadium does. So who ever promoter is, it would make no sense to scrap or try to devalue the british gp.

Are their many Scottish riders good enough for the NL, I only know Ryan Mac who will be a good 2nd string this year. Who else is knocking on the door on the youth and amateur scenes.
-
Surely Bursill deserves another season, and Sheppard had the season of his life last year and could miss out on a spot. But without any other team announcements that looks a very strong potentially winning side. And attractive to watch as well.
-
That's 6 home fixtures against weds clubs as we face the southern teams twice each. Mulford was announced last season so almost certainty and think Spooner is very keen to return. I was elsewhere when Len gave his speech but I am led to believe Ablitt was mentioned as in his plans. For JJ will be looking to return as well. I thought I had read somewhere that the plan had changed to run all meetings on a weds, but I may be wrong. If that's the case then no ledders or Gilkes, if we run Mondays for NL then both are a shoe in I'd guess. Believe Bowtell has signed for Plymouth, but I wouldn't be shocked to see Morley if he doesn't return to the Warriors (although I suspect he will as he seemed very happy on the island), would love to see Armo in the team.
-
Looking at the way other teams have come together, I am think we have a mid table side and if we scrape into the play offs then anything is possible. Bacon, Gilkes, Ledwith, and Starke already know the fast way around CP so hopefully we will be pretty hard to beat from day 1 at home. And on paper thier are 5 or 6 teams we may be a threat to on the road. One thing is for certain, Good Friday cant come quick enough.
-
Thinknits 2021 thatsvthe bigger concern in that regard.
-
Kent v eastbourne would be viable.
-
Jordan came back from serious injury this year, and then suffered all sorts of expensive mechanicals early season taking the fun right out of his speedway. Very much on a false NL average and is a solid prospect at Championship level.
-
Fingers crossed we come out of monday with a 7 plus team league, sensible points limit, and the continuation of what has been the best breeding ground for young brits in many years. If Mondays conclusion is not favourable how many young brits with have expensive shiny ornaments sat on thier workbench, how much young talent would slip away from the sport. Mondays meeting is genuinely up there as one of the most important meetings for the future of british speedway that there has been for generations. Fingers crossed it all works out well. NL is the lifeblood of speedway in the uk.
-
I dont mind sticking the boot into eastbourne when the opportunity arises, but you have to say there admission prices other this season and next have been cracking value, coupled with all british riders. It certainly should be attractive to holiday makers as well as locals.
-
I dont mean this disrespectfully but I had got the impression you was a bit of a stranger to the lower leagues and youth riders. Trust me there is plenty of talent better then the aussie imports, if only promoters werent constantly trying to sign foreign assets for free.
-
Hume has just finished his first serious injury free season of his career, so no where near his potential.
