Grand Prix Calendar and Venues 2019
Shockster replied to james1234's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I went to their home match against Czestachowa and then then watched on here the Torun match a couple of weeks ago and they were both classics. Inside like most tracks seems to have an early advantage. -
I was in Katowice at the end of July and personally as a city I didn't think it was nearly as nice as Wroclaw or Warsaw but each to their own. To be honest I thought apart from the very center it was quite run down. However, for a GP it could work very well and the "Mariacka" is a very lively street with loads of outdoor bars etc. I didn't go in the Slaski but very impressive from the outside.

Well, I got that very wrong.

My point is there would be no races called back, unless the tapes were touched. Just watched heat 10 from Sweden which was stopped wrongly for no reason. Meeting delayed and different outcome off the first turn 2nd time around.

Other sports don't have advantageous starting positions that have not been earned either?

365 are giving Smederna only 2 points. Gustafsson must have been showing something to be thrown back in also. Can't see anything but a home win here although NKI could have a very good night and possibly 7 rides which could keep it close.

I agree about transponders, but can it be that easy for all tracks to have this technology? If it can then let's get rid of the tapes as there is no need for them if we can work off lights. As you say none of the sports you mention have tapes, so Speedway could resign them to history. TBH I just get sick of the restarts and letting riders move at the start may in some part equalise the bad gates. A bad draw in some GPs can spell the end of a riders chance and that can't be right either.

Just let the riders move or do what they want. if they touch the tapes, they're out. It's that simple to me. There would hardly be a restart. Can't see what's wrong with this method.
