Kings Lynn Vs Somerset: Wed : 30-05-2018
Dodger Blue replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Living in the Fenland area of Cambridgeshire my local papers surprisingly don't mention Kings Lynn roadworks! It would have been good to know and have turned right as I left the stadium. I then thought I would go around the roundabout and head back .... Nope!! Only one possible exit into Lynn. Not really knowing the town I followed the one and only diversion sign I saw which eventually took me to the big interchange with the A10, Ah I thought 'get on the A47 westbound there ..... Nope, more cones!! So back into Lynn, no diversion signs and not a clue how to get through the town .... Took a chance and followed the highest number of other cars ... Amazingly went past McDonalds and to my joy was allowed on the A47!! A bit of warning or even a few signs would have helped!! Back to speedway ... Really enjoyed the meeting and Lambert's never say die attitude!! -
Listening to the team manager speaking on local radio and hearing how this team had silenced the doubters .... Sorry Carl, they are shouting again!! Not one Panther could get out of the start and to be honest not one looked fast enough when behind! In 42 years it's difficult to remember a more convincing home hammering Well done Workington, only team to turn up, bet you wish the 4's were here!!

Peterborough v Ipswich CS Tuesday 24th April

Unfortunately I think Panthers will be lucky to get within 10 points of Ipswich!! But then I am always a glass half empty guy!! -
It was working .... therefore no option but to change it!!!

Peterborough v Lakeside CS - Sunday 25th March
Dodger Blue replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I have to say I was surprised Panthers won this meeting. I know Lakeside had not ridden as a team but I believe they had all had competitive rides prior to yesterday, certainly those doubling with Swindon had ridden a few times, whereas only Scott had taken part in any form of meeting on the Panthers side. On paper it was always going to be a tough meeting for Panthers so it was pleasing to actually get the win. As to who did what, the score card shows .. but I thought Tom Bacon looked more on the pace than previously and probably deserved a bit more points wise. I still believe that it will be a difficult season for this Panthers team, but we are running and off with a win. -
For some reason I missed this !!! Must be age!! Anyone know if a copy is available anywhere, it appears no re print is on the cards??

Doesn't matter now what the weather does for the next 3 days, the track will not dry enough. It will be cold and cloudy. The only thing that could of saved the meeting was 3 or 4 days of sunshine/wind and a temperature about 25 to 30 degrees higher than its going to be!! -
Not sure Matt has picked the best foreign import this time

They didnt!!!! Unless someone has jumped a week -
Apart from that .... complete success!!

Think it may have needed a bit more that giving the leagues a different name!!!

Speedway should have used TV coverage to promote itself ... that word is the ultimate problem!! It didnt. The opportunity was there for those in charge at the time to give it a re imaging, it should have taken a hard look at sports such as darts and especially Rugby League who just about gave a rebirth to their sports image. Unfortunately Speedway plodded along with the old, tired meeting format from a wandering amble of centre green staff to the tune of Fanfare for the Common Man or similar soundtrack to endless gaps in racing for numerous reasons. The chance for reviving the sport has now, unfortunately, IMO, gone.

It's a simple fact of sport, it doesn't matter what day of the week it is, or what sport it is, if the team is getting beaten regularly ... the crowds will drop!! Doesn't take a genius to see that!! -

And so ends that ....... -
Knowing the riders in a team would help fans decide if a season ticket was worth while.

I dont suppose we would be aware if it had !! -
Oh yes it is!! ... I love panto season!!

So the best week of speedway in the calender is to be replaced with a format nobody likes because it costs too much to stage!!! Have I got that right?

Personally I always attended the world cup meetings when held in this country... A pairs event doesn't get my attention at all. I think you will still end up with the usual countries at the top in the usual order!!

Having followed Panthers for over 40 years I can tell you that winning 2 trophies in a year was a bl%*\y good year!! There are not many DVD's in my collection of Panther's winning things but I will enjoy watching the latest 2 over the winter!! Obviously the KO cup was fortunate to say the least but a fantastic effort to get to the final. The 4's was stunning after the breaking of Holdergate. In the last few years the biggest battle for us is to ensure that we come to tapes come March! It appears that battle has been won for another year, for that I am extremely grateful to Ged. We need to move on from Holder and support the riders who come to tapes next year. Uli is Uli, I have never been a big fan of Lambert but the way he rode at the end of last season was unbelievable! If they are in the 7 next year then that's fine as I will still be able to watch and hope to at some point adding to my DVD's which is what following any team is all about!!
