  1. Cant view it Phillip, says only viewable with ios devices ie Apple.
  2. If you go with Plusnet for b-band/tel you can, through an active Sky box, get BT Sport for £10pm on a monthly contract. I did it last year. So all the GP's cost me total of £70 in total.
  3. OK, so the feeling is BT are not good on customer service. So to be able to watch BT Sport (GP's and seemingly Premiership speedway) how, without Sky, do I get access to all the speedway action. ??????????? I understand Eurosport will be doing the Euro speedway championship, so I need that as well.
  4. Last year I was with Sky (£49pm) but not Sky Sport. I was also with Plusnet for tel/b-band (£27pm), paid an extra £10pm (monthly contract) for access to BT Sport to get the speedway GP's (and also Moto GP).... so that was £86pm !!!!!! Thats a lot of money..... too much. End of Jan'17 I quit Sky (now watch Freesat thro the Sky box with the same Sky card in-not as many channels [no Eurosport]) Mid May my Plusnet contract ends, so free to get Tel/B-Band/TV package and I was thinking going to BT. Anyone with any dealings with BT ie customer service, content of TV package etc.??????? BT had some deals recently where BT Sport was free until July'17 - anyone know how much it would be after that (presumably a normal price)?????? What makes making a new contract even better is that up till now my b/band speed has been 1.2mb/s but from Openreach website my postcode shows I am up not only fibre b/band but high speed b/band. Not interested in fantastically high sppeds as I dont download films (and it comes at a price) but after 1.2 for the last 6 years anything in double figures would do me....20mb/s would be nice
  5. Again, this forum is sadly lacking a thumbs down button. You would have just got one from me.
  6. Wow! Another club bites the dust. Losing any club is a sad day but a club of Coventrys history is virtually unthinkable, as was the thought of losing BV. All through the years of me being a keen spedway fan, that is the 60's and 70's, through the "missing" years when I "left" the sport, to coming back in 2013, Coventry has always been there. I really do hope there is a future for Coventry speedway, and that future surfaces soon. So sorry for all you bees fans.
  7. You and others of your ilk dont seem to catch on very easy. Have you not read Speedway Star dated February 18, 2017 ???? On page 6 of the SS, 3rd full paragraph up from the bottom of the third column, Dave Gordon is quoted as saying "In the weeks leading up to the grand opening the weather was'nt good and we were struggling to get the shale on turn three and four to bind together while the rest of the track was in perfect condition". To me, and no doubt others, the situation is clear - there was a problem on turn 3 and 4 - and it is Philip Risings article that states it. So which part of Philip Risings report do you not understand?? Rhetorical question. 2016 has ended, most are trying to move on, try it. I sincerely hope BV have a successful season, exceeding the hopes and plans of the new management.
  8. My thinking is.... the important thing to do is to talk to both sides, which order doesnt matter - its the fact finding exercise that is important. Has it been stated that BC did have talks with BV, or was it one sided.????
  9. "Back of the envelope calculations" - what more do you want thats not already been printed/said. BV engaged Loss Assessors who reported damage to the BV business of £696,782 pounds (hardly a figure you would make up to scribble on the back of an envelope), and this figure must have been accepted by MCC because they deducted it from their payment to ISG Construction. Just sit back and think what that £696,782 would do for BV......... IF MCC had paid it to BV, having deducted it from ICG payments, maybe then BV would have been able to formally pay MCC the rent - but it appears MCC kept it back, all £696,782 which is much more then rent. As PRising has said, if ICG had built turn 3-4 to the correct specification (as the rest of the track) then highly likely BV would not be in the mess it is. Head, banging, wall comes to mind.
  10. Thats how understand it. having laid out £350,000 on the stadium on the lead up to the opening meeting, BV promoters needed matches at home to generate income. The cancelled PC Mem meeting cost promoters money, then a run of home meetings cancelled meant more income lost, whilst away matches played costing the promoters more money. The die was set, playing catch up was too difficult. The loss assessors calculated the loss of business amounted to £696,782, a sum MCC didnt pay to ICG, neither did it pay to the BV promoters it appears, if they had then things may well have been very different.
  11. Truly is time to move on but some are a "bit" stubborn to do that. I try one more time and the last time. Quote from Dave Gordon in the SS... "in the week leading up to the opening event the weather was dry but cold and eventually the track showed signs of reacting positively to all the preparation work and the Speedway Control Bureau (SCB) inspectors, Graham Reeve and Alan Bridget, made two visits during the week and the track was tested during daytime and signed off and officially certified by the SCB on March 18" Note 2 inspectors from SCB signed the track off and officially certified it as such. A problem was known, but no one knew what the problem was.....the real problem was hidden, only to be revealed fully when the track was done up. Initially it was thought bend 3-4 was not settled as much as the other parts of the track as bends 3-4 were the last to be completed. As to finance... DG says "we had spent and committed £350k in the immediate run-up to the stadium opening on track and stadium equipment, stadium systems and IT" I presume that is part of the £500k that the new promotors are having to pay now. Is there anything there that the doubters/questioners dont understand. If not, then lets move on..
  12. of those I have seen, not in order Peter Craven Peter Collins Chris Morton Kenny Carter Dave Jessup Michael Lee Tai Woffinden Ray Wilson Martin Ashby Malc Simmons
  13. Why doesnt someone do an online petition to BSPA asking what their part in the BV saga is. I am sure many forum members would sign.
  14. Drove past Ellesmere Port speedway today, I reckon all the men and machines that you need at Swindon to get that stadium built are at EP completely flattening that stadium. Bit ironic.
  15. Any news as to when there will be some news? about new promoters that is.
  16. I really am wanting to know what the BSPA input, negative/positive, in this whole affair. Something still doesnt sit right with me. We have had more info recently and things still dont sound right. More to come, whether it will arrive.
  17. The loss of income from all the possible other events that couldnt take place due to faults was probably built into the loss assessors report, that is then the money MCC failed to pay to ISG but didnt pass on to BV. no wonder MCC are reluctant to "open up" and tell all. If that money, £696k+, was passed to BV things could have been o so different. Who gets that money now????
  18. Both great riders, both reached great heights, and best of all - both entertained speedway fans.
  19. a) Did the riders not get paid at all or b] did the riders get paid for some of their rides if its a) then there needs to be a very good reason not to pay them if its b] perhaps the management was juggling what income was coming in to not only to pay the riders something but also pay off other bills. for example, DG in the SS says "we had spent and committed over £350k in the immediate run-up to the stadium opening on track and stadium equipment, stadium systems and IT Technology and were now facing zero income on top of the losses sustained from the cancellation of the Grand Opening Meeting. We lost revenue from seven home meetings and had the expense of six away fixtures. Our cash flow was shot to pieces and we never recovered". Remember these problems, meetings being cancelled, expenses paid for away matches, were clearly caused by the neglect of ISG to build the track to correct specification, and the neglect of MCC to ensure their contractor was doing the job they were employed (contracted) to do. The fact (clearly) is MCC sent a "Pay Less Notice" dated 29th April to ISG [which included £696,782 "for loss and damage arising as a direct consequence of the Track Defects as notified under Early Warning 21], just 18 days after the Loss Assessor used by BV calculated BV loss was £696,782. In other words MCC gave notice to ISG they were stopping payment of the total sum BV loss Assessor calculated - if that sum had been paid to BV (clearly it wasnt going to ISG) then BV would have been in the position to pay riders fully. And I totally agree what Aces51 #1768, Fred Flange #1769, and Sidney the Robin #1770 said. Well done.
  20. The actual "Pay Less Notice" was drawn up by Turner & Townsend Cost Management Ltd and it included another £100,000 for Additional Professional Fees incurred by the Employer (MCC) to ARUP (£20k), Turner & Townsend (£20k), Pinsent Masons (MCC Legal Advisor) (£40k), MCC Property (£15) and MCC Legals (£5k). Would be interesting to know if 5 other "businesses" were paid but not BV for the loss of £696,782.
  21. Just been to Tesco get my copy of this weeks Speedway Star.... anyone in the Frodsham/Helsby area.... still a couple SS left on the shelf at Tesco in Helsby. Its clear to me that the loss assesor on April 11th calculated the loss to BV was £696,782, stating "do not underestimate the damage this has done to your business. Interesting that on 29th April MCC issued a "Pay Less Notice" to ICG showing an amount which included that exact amount £696,782. MCC - why did you not pay that compensation to BV. That sum, if paid to BV, would probably have changed the whole situation as far as BV were concerned. As Dave Gordon stated "our cash flow was shot to pieces and we never recovered. It was a complete disaster". The complete mesh was due to ICG cutting corners on the rush to get out of the stadium. The fact the excavated waste from turn 3-4 was to left at the stadium for further examination disappeared is criminal. Removing evidence. Its no wonder BV held back from paying rent, MCC was holding onto £696,782 of compensation money..... thats almost 2 years rent ! We still need MCC side of the events, and also something needs to be forthcoming as to what BSPA/SCB were up to.
  22. on the other hand, could it be the new owner/s meet the approval of the BSPA? I am glad BV have two premier meetings, first of all its a race track good and proper, secondly a good income for the club, and thirdly and most important - what a good way of promoting speedway on a national basis.... if managed correctly.
  23. Aces51, even if MCC did a press release claiming the problems were all of their doing, they supposed to control the contractors but didnt, and they so sorry for the problems it caused BV speedway and they will recompense BV for all thweir losses ...... some on here, including Orion, will still be bleating out the same of story that it was all DG/CM fault.
  24. Banging your head against a brick wall, Aces51, the last post proves that. Seems some cant accept that MCC/ISG were doing things there way. Page 2 of that "leaked" report, para 2, implies that after designing the shape of the track and laying down its specification DG/CM were "passengers" to what happened. No doubt they were straining at the leash to be involved but were "restrained". So many clever clogs on here saying "I would have done this", "I would have done that" - but none of them were involved with the actual goings. In that 6 page leak on page 3 , last paragraph it refers to the loss asseor that DG?CM had involved, this was April 11th and they said that"do not underestimate the damage has done to your business, it has been a catastrophe that will take a long time for your business to recover from". Thats in reference to the £650,000 that the cancellation of the opening night and following matches, including the good Friday meet with Wolves, bank holiday meetings always being a good taking.
