  1. Cookies last ride LOOKS easy, can he withstand the pressure. A win would be good.
  2. Not yet, quiet a few could get more if he has a very bad 5th ride - fall, ef, beaten
  3. Great job by Booey, can you imagine how he must have felt after doing that - top of the world feeling. And I noted that whilst it was a double header for Coventry, it was against 2 different teams. Not the farcical situation coming up at Kings Lynn where they race the same tea twice in one night. Nonsense.
  4. Why send racers to a rubbish track hundreds of miles away in a corrupt country such that some of the racers just taking an engine. This is an important meeting and even world championship organisers can make a complete and utter mess by the sound of it. Not just British speedway that has a problem then.
  5. I have watched the 2nd and 3rd round but got to say I am not into best pairs, I would rather see 4 riders racing against each other, and to be honest there doesnt seem to be much team riding, very often one takes the lead and is gone, not bothered where is team mate is even if hes 2nd, the leader hasnt a clue.
  6. That is some line up - whoever gets through is going to have to be on top form.
  7. I suspect Holder didnt turn up for his discipinary because he has contempt for British speedway authorities. Then someone (one of his mates) said to him why dont you appeal. He thought thats a good idea, so thats what he is talking about doing. Crackers.
  8. Some of the Polish and Swedish tracks I seen on telly have smaller junior tracks on the inside. Whats stopping Kings Lynn, Leicester, Somerset and others doing the same.
  9. Maybe that was Matt Fords plan, he couldnt have CH this year as the team points were too high, Could it have been something like "there you are Chris, KLynn will have you, just drop your average this year and come back here for 2018 on a low average". If the plan was anything like that then Pooles bubble has been burst and I cant blame Chapman if he saw what the plan was and was not going to go along with it. Poole has worked the system over the years, all praise given to their leader for that by Poole fans, but when someone else catches on that person gets derided, and by whom - a Poole Pirates Fanatic. "What goes round comes round." is one saying I can think of, another "you reap what you sow".
  10. That sounds a nightmare and certainly not the best preparation for such an important meeting. I wonder what challenges Cookie will face to get there? Be interesting to know.
  11. Just think how much subscription would be without advertising. there again, BBC doesnt show adverts at all, and look how people grumble about having to pay £144 pa for a licence!
  12. Racing started about 7:45 and 14 heats were over by 9:05.....thats a pretty slick run meeting by todays standards. Loads of moans when a meeting takes well over 2 hours, and moans when it done in 1hour 20min. And I expect BT (or anyone) to have adverts, what do you think pays for the televised speedway other then companies paying to advertise during a program.
  13. I can see why SEC has agreed not to take on permanently any current GP rider, otherwise SEC would be a world championship less Aussies and Americans. But they do have GP riders as wold cards dont they. Conversely I would expect the World Championship GP's to always have access to the worlds best. If a few current GP rider gets injured, as now (GH, NP, PP) that once the named substitutes are used then they can take on whover they choose to stand in for a period Thats my views.
  14. Why not Milik of Lebedevs, neither of those riders countries have a regular rider in GP's, both are on form, and both seem hungry for success.
  15. Wish I was there for the cycle speedway championship. I rode a Leicester cycle speedway track in 1965, an individual meeting. Think it was Slater Street, very nicely prepared track. Is that you one you going to????
  16. Your right Gavan, would be difficult. Milik must be the nearest on consistency this year and I would like to see him in..
  17. Does that mean we got another meeting with Martin Smolinski. Hes past his sell by date as far as GP's are concerned. (watch him now go and get a podium finish)
  18. Really enjoyed that meeting. Quiet a few of the "younger" riders impressed tonight - but particularly Charles Wright, he has a nice style. Hope he can keep out of trouble injury wise and progress well. Nice track and must be a lovely setting in the summer, but probably freezing in March and October.
  19. but you expect bigger crowds in Sweden - it is after all a speedway nation of long standing and excellent riders. Slovenia not quiet the same standing as a speedway nation, reputation of quality (except for Zagar)
  20. This year especially, it would be tough on a rider finishing 9th or 10th in the GP's and not get a wild card. Standard this year is very high. Last year Madson was looking very good, what I seen so far in the SEC is not so good, doesnt seem to have the spirit in him to mix it in a tough meeting like the present crop of GP riders are doing.
  21. One of the points being made though is that P'boro were advertising the fact Holder was going to be riding in the 4's. The public may well have been acting positively to the advertising (which is why P'boro advertised) but then got let down. Surely if a fan is told someone is riding, they would expect to see that person ride (barring accidents and a few other emergencies). To do anything different is deceiving the paying fan out of what they paid for.
  22. I think there is lot in the confidence factor when choosing an engine. Sure the engine has to be competitive in the first place, but if it performs then the confidence factor inside takes you to a higher level. Thats where Freddie was at the beginning of the season, on a high. Then came the injury and his form slipped due to carrying that injury, and he didnt get back to the high again till he changed his engine for the GP last Saturday. Now he is back on a high again, confidence off the scale and riding extremely well.
  23. It was Kevin Holden that died of a ruptured aorta whilst racing and was dead before he hit the ground. So that should be natural causes?
  24. Have you taken into account that maybe the engines in Poland are more efficient (tune) then those n the UK.
