  1. This year especially, it would be tough on a rider finishing 9th or 10th in the GP's and not get a wild card. Standard this year is very high. Last year Madson was looking very good, what I seen so far in the SEC is not so good, doesnt seem to have the spirit in him to mix it in a tough meeting like the present crop of GP riders are doing.
  2. One of the points being made though is that P'boro were advertising the fact Holder was going to be riding in the 4's. The public may well have been acting positively to the advertising (which is why P'boro advertised) but then got let down. Surely if a fan is told someone is riding, they would expect to see that person ride (barring accidents and a few other emergencies). To do anything different is deceiving the paying fan out of what they paid for.
  3. I think there is lot in the confidence factor when choosing an engine. Sure the engine has to be competitive in the first place, but if it performs then the confidence factor inside takes you to a higher level. Thats where Freddie was at the beginning of the season, on a high. Then came the injury and his form slipped due to carrying that injury, and he didnt get back to the high again till he changed his engine for the GP last Saturday. Now he is back on a high again, confidence off the scale and riding extremely well.
  4. It was Kevin Holden that died of a ruptured aorta whilst racing and was dead before he hit the ground. So that should be natural causes?
  5. Have you taken into account that maybe the engines in Poland are more efficient (tune) then those n the UK.
  6. I think GP racing is well above your average meeting to be seen in UK, and that is no disrespect for the riders in UK, just that the GP riders, especially this year are on another planet. Not only was it a great speedway meeting last night, I just watched Moto GP and the dice between Andrea Dovizioso and Marq Marquez is in another league, then you get the youngsters in Moto 3 fighting it out every lap passing and repassing.time and time again. Now off to watch Moto 2.
  7. I thought Roscos shirt was awful.....then the wife said I had one about 30 years ago worse then that.
  8. Thata what I meant when I said we been spoilt by excellent racing in the GPs this year....we expecting races like that EVERY race, but of course we cant have it. Stick by what I said, some races ok (were good), some were brilliant, just like that Warsaw race. I agree with the trophies being rubbish.I thought Cardiff trophies would be a one off, but to have the same again the very next meeting , no more please.
  9. Been spoilt with excellent racing in GPs this year and expecting every race to be the same. Some races were ok, some were brilliant. Overall a very good meeting. Pawlicki fortunate to stay in the Smolinski incident, and then again in the Zagar incident. With Smolinski, Smoli was in the lead and Pawlicki didnt even try to stay on by moving. With Zagar, you can see Pawlicki look toward Zagar then still turned left into him.
  10. Agreed. Thats business, make an investment to make a return, with the aim of a profit..
  11. Good post full of relevant information. Hope BSPA are reading it and make appropriate changes to the rules for next year to foil Poole having 5 "foreigners" in a BRITISH league team. Someone sometime has to stop this nonsense of not giving british riders a Premier league place at the expense of foreigners who use britain as a developing stepstone at the expense of british interests.
  12. £20+ grand in Marcels pocket is probably a fraction of what he has put into the project.
  13. Monster Joe will probably make up any losses Chris Holder has due to his ban in UK - "dont worry, there are enough mugs who drink this muck to make up your losses"
  14. If the ref told riders not to return to the pits in the event of a restart........ why were the pit gates open?
  15. Probably so, just like I think there was more to the opening night at BV
  16. Considering whats just been said, is it right for him to have added pressure of being captain not only of Bv but also Team GB.
  17. So not really a ban then? If they wanted to ban him that would affect his riding in UK why didnt they say ban until end of May 2018
  18. Not showing up for a tribunal means Holder was showing contempt for the speedway authorities.
  19. The comments you make about Holder are squashed due to the fact he now has a 9 month ban from SCB
  20. I cant knock it. We all know many things are not working right in British speedway, much is said on this forum, and obviously elsewhere, so whats wrong with someone trying to get their voice heard. It may not work, but there again ... it may work. Wont be known unless its tried.
  21. who is the "certain gtr rider" that has changed his engine..... or is it some big secret. Noticed a rider at KL last night was riding a GTR, forgot who it was though.
  22. I think the key words being used are amateur status and professional status. Most speedway riders will be registered as a business and such should be classed as professional I would have thought.
  23. and surely we hoping that BT seem it fit to press on with coverage for 2018.
  24. That was an ok meeting. Must admit I was apprehensive that it would be ok after the recent rider loss at KL, but it didnt come over too bad on TV. Meeting was run slickly, 1 hour 45 minutes and it was over. Pit gates stayed closed after race stopped for tape movement. Shows it can be done and thats how meetings should be run.
