  1. but its not quiet right, Dudek last Saturday, Cookie the time before (and he needs all the help he can get). We are in the 21st century, the age of computers and electronics...…. is even the GP series so far behind the times and cant/wont progress forward?
  2. I suspect because of H&S the gates cant open until a certain number of attendants are in place, and if the attendants are speedway supporters they may well be part of those travelling from BV on a bank holiday Monday and potentially get stuck in traffic with others. All maybe of course.
  3. Generally speaking, you maybe right. But seeing someone close to you injured can and does have an effect more on some people then others. Remember Chris Holder went off the boil after the Darcy Ward smash. There was a very bad smash at the British MotoGP at Silverstone on Saturday practice in the pouring rain. These MotoGP riders are tough, and one of the real tough ones on Sunday said "we maybe MotoGP riders, but we are human" (or words to that effect). Speedway riders are tough guys, but they are human too. Recently a former Polish speedway champion committed suicide, riders who knew him were affected, one pulled out of a match because of it, some others were down on their previous performance levels. We are humans with feelings.
  4. Apart from a measly 2000 euro fine for Janowski, which probably equates to 2 points in the Polish league, his side kick (father or not) needs a 1 meeting pit ban - even if part of an essential team. This has got to stop, where everyone and his dog can throw punches about. That's 2 meetings running now that NP has been targeted after supposed incidents on the track which most on here agree were ok moves. If allowed to, I can see this going back on the track in the form of lets do the dirty on NP (or Freddie), culminating in someone getting seriously injured......and I mean seriously. Bartoz Zmarzlik is not the little innocent neither. Referees are going to have to toughen up on whats going on, be firm, fair, and most of all consistent. And whilst mentioning firm, fair and consistent….. the starts need to be sorted. Not for the first time in the GPs this year has a rider been penalized for a perfect start. Dudek did a perfect start, yet lost out big time. that's not fair. Left to human judgement that situation is likely to continue. Transponders, electric beam, green light starts, or a combination of or something else.... something needs doing ready for next season.
  5. I'm up for "second half" races to give juniors a chance of regular track time. And these juniors may well be "local" to the track, thus EXPENSES need not be high. No points money, just expenses to keep costs down. Saw many juniors coming through the ranks at BV, even before Dent Oliver did the Rochdale team.in the early 70's.
  6. I live about 25 miles west of Manchester. Weather here at 10am is cloudy, wind blowing toward BV at 15mph, at 1pm low chance of "precipitation" which lessens even more at 2pm for the rest of this day. Forecast taken from BBC Weather. Make of that what you will.
  7. Laguta is a gater, Zagar is a racer that will fight for a position.
  8. The FIM Jury has decided to fine Maciej Janowski €2,000 for violent behaviour from one of his team members and Nicki Pedersen €300 for verbal, un-gentlemanly behaviour towards the FIM race director. That sounds about right, but add to it that Janowskis team member is banned from the pits for the next GP. Too many in the pits, too many hyped up to a ridiculous level, too many too keen to start flinging fists around. Needs sorting now before it gets way out of hand. As for the meeting, I am glad that I not the only one thinking it was an "average" GP meeting. Too much home advantage in this case, glaringly obvious especially when a rider in this class of meeting can be virtually a whole straight ahead of the second man. At one time I was thinking is Zmarzliks engine oversize or running on something special. Whatever has happened to Emil this year, he just a shadow of his former self, so sad to see it. Cookie, I was routing for him from the beginning of the season, pleased when he got couple wins in Cardiff, but I now come to the conclusion he not going to make it, anytime soon, big on the GP stage. Even when he gates he is so predictable as to where he going to place himself on the track, he catches someone fast but holds back when it comes to a overtake bid. Easy for me to say I know, I not the one riding the bike, but its him who chose to be a speedway rider. Interesting meeting, Woffy doesn't win a race, but his lead has only been cut by 1 point. Zager, does really well, but he lost a point on the 8th place man. A weird set of circumstances last night. But well done to Vaculic.
  9. I was in panic mode last night (Friday). Everything went wrong with my BT connection. Couldn't do the internet unless via BT-FON, BT TV only worked on basic TV stations through aerial, no BT Sports at all. What with MotoGP from Silverstone and Speedway GP from Poland and no connection. I could get BT Sport via my mobile but not good viewing with a 4.7" screen! Managed to contact BT this morning and after talking for about 20 minutes and a bit of fiddling, it turned out I have an iffy connection on the transformer at the plug, Waggle it about I I got a connection, then I didn't, then I did. Sorted it with a bit a Gorilla tape, good enough to see MotoGP and Speedway GP this weekend, till BT come next Thursday.
  10. I wish he would become Mr Predictable, starting tomorrow. and I mean Predictably good.
  11. I just got a feeling we are in for a treat Saturday evening - just hope the weather behaves itself and doesn't make a soggy mess of things.
  12. So sad to loose one of the greats. I remember him as part of the "fabulous five" - Moore, Craven, Briggs, Knutsson, and Fundin in the early 60's - they started of 30 yards as they were so good. I missed him at his probable best in the mid-late fifties, but yes, something special to watch when I did see him.
  13. I would like to ask the riders where GPs should be held. I would like to think that majority would choose racing tracks, and I would expect indoor arena tracks to be included. I wouldn't want to see less then 10, nor more then 12.
  14. Robert did a really good job last, really is making fast progress. The meeting was pretty "ordainary", seen better gps from Latvia, but it was certainly watchable.
  15. So a Championship (Ipswich) meeting takes preference over a Premiership (BV) meeting. What a laugh. Can you imagine a Man Utd first team player not turning out because hes playing for Watford. Couldn't make it up. Some VERY serious sorting out to be done to get speedway out of the dung.
  16. I was sat in my local café this lunchtime reading one of the daily national morning papers and I usually start at the back page and move forward. Surprised to see a good half page about Moto GP from Austria the day before (Sunday), but then there was a much smaller report re Saturdays speedway GP in Malilla, sadly it started about the TW NP spat. Results were given, also a bit about British Superbikes from Thruxton and British Touring Car championship from Rockingham. The a list of speedway fixtures for tonights speedway. Its a long time since I seen so much about motor sport in general (apart from F1 at Silverstone) and was genuinely surprised. Speedway was still "a little bit", but hey - its a start.
  17. Paul Hurry name sounds familiar, is he relative to the Paul Hurry from good few years ago. Same with Tom Perry, any relation to Perry's of the 70's
  18. Well done Pinny, you got that call Pederson to win dead right. However they managed to turn that track into a race circuit I don't know, but however they did it British track curators need to take note. As for the racing, obviously early to mid races were a bit predictable, but towards the end some fantastic racing given to us. Like others I not too keen on the moves that particularly NP and Freddie do, but tonights moves by them were just about ok IMO. Certainly TW was winging about something which was ok. Interesting how the 2 top Poles crumbled in the semis, they could easily have been 1-2-3. Well done Zagar, just wish he could be consistently good, he has a good style and he is clean. Roll on the next meetings, it will take some to catch TW but sure is a lot of interest in positions 2-10. Unless things change Artum, Greg and Emils places are looking dodgy.
  19. Seems to me the only sport I seen that the players are honest and admit what the ref may not of seen is Snooker. Even in the world championship I seen players, in crucial matches, point out to the ref that they fouled ie maybe moved a ball the shouldnt so slightly that the ref never saw it. In football you get theatrical dives, you get the "hand of god", speedway riders will know pretty well they caused a rider to move at the tapes, or were beaten by half a bikes length..... but don't seem to play fair and tell the referee. Sad, but probably relates society in general to day.… "me first".
  20. I wasn't there, but read about the refs awful decisions from BV supporters, SO this was very nice to hear it from a Kings Lynn supporter, very honest of the poster g13webb, to be commended. Something missing generally these days. Why should a ref get away with these terrible decisions? Why is there not photo finish cameras, or videos recordings for instant replay or to be sent to SCB or whoever controls meetings. Decisions like this make a big difference to a teams future. From all accounts BV are struggling financially and missing out on the playoffs due to poor decisions like at KL may cost them dearly - we know crowds shoot up for the playoffs. Speedway in the UK is on "life support machine", its critical that all teams survive, but fair play, or lack of it, could mean the life support machine being turned off for some teams.
  21. 3 lap 45 second races instead of 4 lap 60 second races - spectators will end up paying the same for 15 races at 45 seconds. Why do you want 45 second races, those tracks that can be altered should be altered to allow exciting racing. If as you say “most modern results are decided after lap one (well by bend 2 mostly)”, sound like you really want to advocate ONE lap races.
  22. So how do you get from "The two engine rooms proving to be the difference this evening" to "Compare the scores for riders 3 & 4" ?????
