  1. Probably right, his gating let him down. However, having said that, he was a bit numb as to what to do next. Tai would have seen he couldn’t get round, plan B, cut up the inside. Laguta just stuck it out and lost out.
  2. I reckon Laguna knew he was taking 3 before he got to the stand to actually pick. It’s all theatre, scratching head, reaching out and selecting a different one at the last second, pure theatre.
  3. I would be happy to see Laguna in the bottom six - that’s where his talent really lies.... apart from his great gating. i used to class Madsen as a pure gater, but last year I changed my mind. He’s a good racer that can gate well sometimes.
  4. Can Lindback be ditched and put Glen Chugunov in. Chug is currently placed 7th. Got to admit, I was hoping Madsen and Vaculik would be up there this year, with Madsen winning. Both looking shadows of last year.
  5. What I would like to see is the full result, quickly, at the end of the meeting, both for the meeting and cumulative with previous meetings. Should not be hard to do. Whilst the last 3 races (2 semi and final) are taking place positions 9-16 can be determind, at the end of both semis position 5-8 determined, and the easy ones are position 1-4 right at the end of the final. Within 5 minutes all this can be checked and added to previous rounds.
  6. Excellent racing over the 2 nights. You can’t beat speedway go racing, the guys are giving it 110% and have done over the last few years. It’s very intense. They must have strong minds to keep doing what they doing at this high level.
  7. In a way, the new system has already accomplished what it set out to do. Freddie fulfilled it when he raced all the way to the end, not content wit 7+3, he exerted himself and got 16. A leeson given, and possibly learnt - we shall see tonight.
  8. That 1.2 was on a good day, sometimes below 1. I do a check not only on Plusnet but TalkTalk and Sky etc and that’s the best I can get, 1.2. When the speedway contract with BT ends will have to see what the situation is then. couldnt believe it when I chatted with the Openreach guys that were working in a box down below the pavement opposite my home, and they told me fast fibre was coming soon. But it did!
  9. I was with Plusnet (is owned by BT, as is EE) a few years ago and took out BT sport via SKY and it was £10 month. I did just the 7 month speedway season for £70. My mobile sim is with Plusnet, which is an EE sim. £7.50 for unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, 3gb data. BT and EE are expensive, Plusnet is good value. My problem now is..... I am on fast fibre, 72mbps, and BT is not opening up to other suppliers yet, not even Plusnet. This means if I moved away to get Plusnet, or anyone else’s deal, I would go back to 1.2 mbps and I don’t want to see the spinning wheel again.
  10. How long does it take to print programs? Is the morning of the meeting giving enough time, or are they done overnight?
  11. 3 from the Challenge yet 1 from SEC. Seems a bit odd. Should have made it 1 and 1.
  12. I hope you win the £200 Ian, I like Vaculik, just a tad more consistency and he can do it. Mind you, I would be pleased if Madsen won, he deserved it last year (remember the fuel tank incident that robbed him of at least a second in that race). They can’t both win, so let the scrap begin......... soon!
  13. Well, I can see two riders listed who are in 2020 GP series, and I rate all three are worthy to be there.
  14. Interesting that Adam Ellis gets the pick rather then Charles Wright. Would have been good to have the current British Champion in the field. Or perhaps Charles didnt want it. Also Greg Laguta having a go. I thought he given up on being in GP seires.
  15. The looks of the 3rd/4th bend banks bothers me not. It’s a world class race track, that’s what matters. If the economic situation was different, if crowds of 5,000 was regular then I sure a stand could become a permanent feature. I think the UK speedway should be well pleased that with all that’s gone on in the last 12 years economically there has been one track opened up that gives world beating speedway racing. That’s a lot to celebrate.
  16. It’s one thing having power in the bike but it’s got to be useable. The reason he gets his bikes out of corners fast is a skill of getting his wheels in line sooner rather then later. Ove Fundin was good at that. It’s documented he did not always have a fast bike, but he knew how to get the best out of the power he had - wheels in line ASAP is one track craft. Madsen is carrying some bad injuries. His back is not in good shape, delaying an op until he retires as it may make matters worse rather then better. So if he has a weaker meeting occasionally it is understandable. Riders are not machines, they are humans.
  17. The probable cost of erecting temporary stands could outweigh the income. There has just been 2 Moto GP races from Jerez in Spain over two weekends. Big open spaces but NO spectators. F1 this weekend (and week after) from Silverstone, masses of terracing - NO spectators. Did you notice the spectators in Poland last night in Torun. No social distancing no mask wearing from the vast proportion of crowd despite lots of empty terracing.
  18. Well done Robert. I must admit during the series I was waiting for him to collapse, but pleasantly surprised that he didn’t. In fact he kept his cool and concentration extremely well. The prize was immense, first one to qualify for 2021 GP’ series. re Nicki P, I noticed no one these days takes a chance of swooping round a bend and going round him down the straight, it’s either go up the inside of hold back till next corner. Very wise, after all, who wants to be fenced. Roll on the 2020 GP’s.
  19. Black Lives Matter should have been All Lives Matter, everyone is equal.
  20. Reminds me of the wife while she down on her knees dusting the fireplace hearth - I say to her "while you down there you may as well kiss my feet". That gets her up quickly.
  21. "speedway in this country is a sport that definitely needs to address the matter of equality and diversity." Why do you say that? Have you any evidence that potemntial riders other then white have been turned away from a practice track etc due to the colour of their skin? Have you not noticed that certain sports are dominated by coloured persons, and other by white persons ie athletics/swimming. I have concluded that certain types of humans are not cut out for some sports but ok with other sports, for example cricket compared to motor sports. Moto GP doesnt have many/any coloured riders (though there are many asian riders. I notice certain countries are predominat in sport in general, but many dont really compete on the world stage ie Saudi/UAR/Qatar/Iran/Iraq/Afgan/Lebanon. So its each to their own, cant force competitors to do this or that, and IMO it would be wrong to spend a lot of money trying to coerce somone to do something they dont want just to satisfy some perceiced need.
  22. If controls were put in place supposedly to control COVID-19 and they have not done that then yes, I think it is likely to affect other sports. I Presume they have looked at what went wrong, what was weak, and what could strengthen the controls, and come to the conclusion to shut down. Look at Poland speedway, couple got tested +ve even though controls were in place. i surprised football has been allowed to start, after all its a contact sport on the playing field. At least in speedway riders have virtually full body covering whilst riding, it’s what goes on in the pits and offices etc that is likely to be weak areas.
  23. In Boris speech the other day (telefvided and in newspapers) he was talking about October for "mass" gatherings, so thats end of speedway time. So effectively speedway in UK not going to happen. As for will officials be required COVID testing if stadia dont open. Well its happening in other sports now where no crowds ie footba;;, F1, MotoGP so yes it more then lokely be required IMO.
  24. Completely different meeting to Toruń. Madsen showed his class again, not his best meeting but can pull something out of the bag when needed. The final was interesting, 2 Russians v 2 Danes, 5-1 to Denmark. In the final I was pretty sure Emil was letting Laguna get 2nd place, trouble for him was Michelson had his own agenda and I was glad to see him take the 2 Ruskies on the last bend. Robert doing well, obviously not got the experience yet that some of the other mature riders have, but he will learn a lot this season, likewise Smektala. Timo Lahti doing ok, not spectacular in any specific way, but he’s in the mix mostly. Great track, missed it these last few years, glad it’s back, want more of it. Great meeting.
