  1. Could be first 6 cylinder speedway bike and a cross between an upright and laydown - its a V-6
  2. Two things 1) the riders are rusty. 2) go back to the “old” tyre
  3. We are talking about. British club level Speedway here… does that sit well with 21st century technology.
  4. But someone gets paid to do the job of handling bookings. And I was being very conservative when I said wages cost was 8 per hour. That was only wages paid, whoever employs that person will have business overheads, National Insurance, holiday pay, sick pay, employee liability insurance, heating, lighting, all add up to a major expense which has to be paid by someone..
  5. Look at it from the promotors view - they will say they keeping entry prices as low as possible, then up pops COVID. They introduce on line booking because inevitably payment as you turn up most people will want to pay cash, but with COVID that dirty money. Taking a booking on line costs admin time, admin has to be paid for hence 50p. Let’s say wage of admin is £8 per hour, that means sixteen 50p’s per hour which equates to 3min 45secs per telephone booking. I think that seems about fair, it’s not the promotors fault, and it’s not the fans fault COVID precautions are in place, but still has to be paid for.
  6. I wasn’t saying wearing masks as at Barcelona GP is the rule in uk, I was highlighting the fact the Spaniard crowd were following the rules whereas here in the uk a lot just want to disregard everything.
  7. I watching MotoGP racing from Barcelona today, a limited crowd of about 20,000 I understand are in this huge open race track. There is social distancing, some in groups of 6 , some just 2 or 3. Everyone wearing a mask. In fact the only ones not wearing masks are the riders, and for a lot of the time their in helmets. Showing respect fro the current law & rules in Spain. Here in UK a lot just want to disregard everything. A society that breaks the law wilfully is a broken society.
  8. But if they don’t protest against BSPL they not going to get all the rides they want/need. What about supporters protesting - going to meetings but not entering the stadium, no income for the promotors to pay bills.
  9. I am all for happy speedway riders shaking hands after a close race. Happy riders make happy fans. Let’s go for it.
  10. You probably right, seems most riders like the track with its many lines for over/under taking.
  11. Remember, Ian, Woffy wanted to train GB youngsters in GB but was told to go away. Well, he is doing that in Poland but on a one to one basis. He took Robert Lambert under his wing, taught him on machine prep, training the body, nutrients etc and look at Rob now where he is. And he doing the same with Dan. Lent Dan his bikes or engines tail end of last year, this years started off more then fine for Dan. If he has been sticking to fitness plan and nutrition plan that’s probably Dan looks a man on the machine rather then a boy.
  12. Hasnt it been past experience that where stock cars are involved speedway take second best. If that is the case, would it be a good move.
  13. What about those whose appetite is small and they just happy with starters, that is, some may want to just watch the NDL lads and go home satisfied.
  14. The question YOU raised - why the need for a double header in the first place? Hardly any speedway last year, so not much monetary turnover for the promotors, hardly any profit, if any. So, to give value for money to supporters, and to maximise profit from turnover, the Leicester promotor decided on a double header, not at double the price of a meeting, but, to maximise profit. As Crescent Girl said a double header saves money in so many ways for the promotor, and gives value for money for the spectator - it’s a win-win situation, and potentially gives a club a life line during these difficult times which are neither promotors nor spectators doing. Come the time no speedway in Leicester the very same people moaning now will be moaning then.
  15. My only live meeting of 2019 was to Belle Vue to watch a NDL match between BV v Mildenhall. Cost £10, only grandstand seats available but it was really good to see developing youngsters giving it a go. Well worth the money supporting “tomorrow’s” Premiership riders. £26 for two meetings, yes, I would have gone for that.
  16. Few weeks ago seemed everyone was so starved of speedway they couldn’t wait for it to start…… then there was a grumble because prices have gone up £1…. . Now the grumble is two meetings one after another for £26
  17. As long as you know where the image is on your computer and the image is not too large there should be no problem Steve. I always use the "choose files" option, this takes me to my computer and just go to the place and file I want. The size of the file (picture) is important, too large and it wont load.
  18. What you could do Singy13, is just load a couple or three at a time, making multiple posts, thus not exceeding .24mb limit on each occurrence.
  19. Sidney, OF would have been only 37 in 1970, born 23 May 1933, makes him 88 now. Basically same age as PC.
  20. Your photos could well be too high resolution. Lots of people set camera to high resolution thinking it makes better photo viewing. For computer viewing I found low res 640x480 is fine. There. Is a max total size of .24mb on uploading photos, you probably exceeding that.
  21. Steve, Maybe we all COVID tired. I managed last summer very well as I got busy in the garden, but winter was long even though I have other interests to keep me occupied.
  22. Further to my above post, Ove Fundin is a real nice guy. About 10 years ago I emailed him, didn’t get a reply for ages, getting on for a year maybe, then I got a reply and he apologised for being forgetful. He keeps himself busy, walking, cycling. I mentioned to him our family were very friendly with Bob Duckworth, BV rider late 50’s/60’s. I read Ove tried to keep in touch with riders but he hadn’t Bobs email, so I gave it him. He said he liked Bob, but perhaps he was too nice to be a top rider. And that was right, Bob was another gentleman, but to be top rider you have to be ruthless on the track. Bob wasn’t, Ove was, and that perhaps why Peter Craven, as good as he was, wasn’t quite in Oves league over his career.
