Speedway of Nations 2024

£10 for parking is disgusting. -
Interesting the 3 races Fundin and Plechanov met at Norwich, Fundin won all 3. Yet at World Championship Fundins nemesis was Plechanov. Plechanov finished 2nd in 1964 (Gothenberg) and also 2nd in 1965 (Wembley) both times beating Fundin in a run off after both scored 13 points. Coming 2nd in 1965 at Wembley means Plechanov was the first and only eastern European rider to be in the top 3 at Wembley. Boris Samarodov came close at Wembley, coming 4th in 1963, followed by 4th in 1964 at Gothenberg. He was also World Ice Racing champion in 1967. Boris also had a 2nd, 3rd, and three 5th places on the ice World Championships.

The good ole days when the Russians (and the Poles) used to tour the uk, riding the communist Czech ESO machines with handlebars clamped to front forks. A pity the likes of Igor Plechanov and Boris Samarodov couldn’t ride regularly in the UK…. Russia would have had a world champion long before Laguta. Those were the days when riding in the UK was THE place to be if you wanted to be at the very top of world class speedway.

British Final 2024

Thought I heard Lambert say he brought couple Polish engines over. GB won’t be cold, 4 GB riders were there last night, any 3 of that 4 will be in the final. -

OXFORD SPEEDWAY TV STREAM PREMIERE

Thank you for the heads up on that. What could have been a meaningless Sunday evening gained some interest. -
Watching Peter Craven and Ove thundering into the 3rd bend at Belle Vue (where I always stood), especially for the Golden Helmet Match Race, was absolutely amazing. Two brilliant riders, completely different in build and riding styles, racing very close but not clashing, total respect for each other........ never to be forgot.

He won many titles, and deservedly so, but this one was given to him “Mr Perpatual Motion”, 10 top three places on the trot in the world championship between 1956-1965. He missed out in 1966 (f I recall correctly SVEMO banned him riding), he came back in 1967, whilst riding for Belle Vue, and won it for the last time. An amazing record. Only other rider to do 10 top three finishes on the trot in the world championship was Jason Crump from 2001-2010 in the gran prix era.

Disappointed with the track. Ideal spot for speedway, out of town so no noise pollution, next to a fast main road, lots of solar power (heard it said it powered the whole stadium) that also provides spectator cover, everything seems right UMTIL you get to the important part.... the track. Narrow straights and little banking. It is probably not going to produce the best racing. Shame.

If not a legal obligation then surely a moral obligation. Third parties could be involved in any accident that may happen………including families of loved ones seriously injured or worse.

For Discovery+ at £6.99 you get a lot for your money. Its worth it just for the speedway GPs, but a load other sports like World Superbikes, plenty cyclocross, mountain biking, winter sports, then loads of films, dramas, series. So excellent value for money. Speedway GP enjoyable, track held up very well, I wonder if the open roof made this possible. Be interesting if Cardiff has an open roof. Doyle a very worthy winner. Jack recovered very well from his poor start. Huckenbek sadly missed out a possible final. Woffy started out like he was back in the running, but fizzled out when the going got tough. Dan getting into a pattern….. hit the front and he can race away (but not always) and when he’s behind he can’t or doesn’t want to mix it. Lambert showing he can mix it.

Looks a similar incident to Carter and Penhall in LA. The start procedure in them days was terrible. A case of who can get away with the biggest roller. Todays system is much fairer IMO.

I would like to know what happened between the afternoon qualifier and the meeting. The likes of Kubera, Bewley, and Madsen were just three of the fastest in qualifier yet when the meeting started they were left trailing. Did the track get doctored from the afternoon? The meeting itself was as expected, pretty bad. Sure, there was some passing, but too many times if you were not in the lead you were as good as"dead". Congrats to Jack, deserved it last night. Disappointed in Bewley. Beginning to think he not going to the very top and be a world solo champ. He is one of the fastest when in front, and can be very spectacular riding the boards. However, I wonder if that real bad accident a few years ago affects his confidence to mix it. Woffy is the same, but he can be excused as he has strut his stuff (three time champ) and is nearing the end of his top flight career.

It was round 6 Mallila 2023 that JK started showing the 2 semis and the final down at the bottom of the sheet. Just a blank of that would be fine. i really do appreciate the work JK has done over the last few years I been using his sheet, together with your input too. For JK to fill in all the names and points from the previous rounds is time consuming which I thank him for.
