I know what you were saying Steve.

Of course new fans need to come through the gates, but not at the expense of charging older ones more, i reckon more older ones will leave then the new ones coming in.
-
The new pension is more, the old pension isnt.! I am another one stuck on the old system.
-
Mike, just because your dad is ok does not mean every senior is. Your saying a pensioner can afford an extra £4 or £5 per meeting so some family can get in cheaper….. I think you judging things wrongly. Seniors are stuck with rises just the same as a younger one, and seniors, mostly, are not in a position to go out and earn additional income. If seniors stop going to meetings speedway will be right in the dumps.

Seeing that a typical speedway crowed looks as if it’s made up of 75% pensioners. Put their entry up to Normal price and you would loose a lot of the crowd. Don’t forgot that Sunday suspended the triple factor pension rise because 8% didn’t suit them, instead this year we get 3.1%, yet inflation at the time was 8% and is again. We get the same gas/electric increases, food price increases, council tax, what savings we may have we still get the same miserable interest as everyone else. My pension is half of the national average. For you to be saying we are well off I can tell you we are not.

I thought Woofy, Bewley, Fricke, Doyle, Lambert to name at least 5, will also be brought over for the PC Meeting.

Streaming would pick up people who do not normally go to the meeting live. Take my example, I live 35 miles from Belle Vue, so 70 mile return. Even in my Prius, which can easily do 70 mpg in summer, that is nearly £8, plus £20 to get in, there is £2. Since NSS has opened I have been just 3 times, non of them was a Premier league match. So, £10-£12 streaming would be attractive to me……… AND TO MANY OTHERS no doubt. Attendance in person may dro, not a lot I don’t think, but many more would be streaming. I too am with BT,now speedway gp has moved to discovery by is good for MotoGP/2/3. Must admit though, bt is very reliable.

I think Jack Holder and Dan Bewley will be steady in the GPs, maybe upset someone’s Apple cart on occasion, but for sure they not going to set the world on fire in their first year. It took Anderson Thomson until the last few rounds to get some consistency, and Robert Lambert too… and he has had some experience before last year. The cries go out “we want new riders in the series”, well you got them, two youngsters who are the future, albeit the future come a bit sooner due to some mad person on Moscow.

I am sure any one contemplating a foreign summer holiday are not going to cancel plans even if their local speedway reduces prices by £5. What speedway needs to do is stream, stream, stream. If someone feels they cannot afford getting to a stadium, plus pie and drink (though not really a necessity), as well entrance fee, but can afford £10-£12 for a stream. It’s got to be a way forward for speedway but how many tracks will do it.

It is showing a nasty aggressor who has declared war on a country that virtually the whole world is against their dispicable action. Whether this action is by restricting banking, stopping exports to that country, closing businesses, ……or banning their sportsmen on the world scene. It’s all sending a message to Putin…..his actions are depraved and deemed not acceptable. This war is not going to end this year, maybe Russia will win this current battle, but the people of Ukraine are not going to roll over and come under Russias control quietly, they going to continue gorilla warfare for a long time.
-
What you have to remember Mike, is that the rises you mention affect everyone. That includes the business of running the stadium, and the riders. They, like you and I, will be paying the increases. So why should admission charges be held back? No price increase, track closes, cant pay the bills.

I was reading an article earlier. Related to Putins former teacher, she wrote a book about him some years ago. Apparently he stopped socialising when he was 11 years old. Went into his shell and concentrated on sports, especially Judo…. he is a black belt. He always wanted to win at sports, he had to be first….. always. Perhaps that gives an insight why it is important for Russian sport stars to be banned from the world scene. He loves to see Russians succeed, so cut them off. Sweden and Finland are reconsidering joining NATO, something they have tried not to joking, claiming they are neutral. Finlands is joined to Russia and Sweden is not far away at all, and not being in NATO they are as vulnerable as Ukraine. McDonalds is closing all its outlets in Russia, no doubt at hugh financial loss, together with Starbucks and Coca Cola. The people of Russia must decide their future, they must see that the world is not with them, be strong, and get rid of him.

I think some on this forum don’t fully understand what is happening. Despite Putin saying otherwise he has started a war, but you want speedway to carry on as before. People in Ukraine, normal people like you and I, who have done nothing, are being left homeless, without water, power, and without hope, yet you want speedway to carry on as before. They are encouraged to walk out of the area down a peace corridor, but it’s a trick, they get fired at and some have been killed, yet you want speedway to carry on as before. Over 1 million people have managed to get out of that hell hole, Poland has taken in the vast majority of evacuees in just one week, far more then UK has ever done I think, people with no hope, no future, no home to go to, no where to put their feet up in front of a warm fire to watch speedway. I been saying for a week now their is a strong bond between Ukraine and Polish people. There is probably 800,000 Ukranion refugees now in Poland, being welcomed with open arms and acts of love, the Polish people are really putting themselves out, as are those in Slovakia, Moldova, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, etc, yet you want speedway to carry on as before, as if nothing has happening nor is happening. The scene of this world has changed, for the worse, and may take decades to get back to where it was. Because of Putin, Russians are going to feel the brunt of the effects, the world is letting him know their feelings, and their actions will be felt by the Russian populous. For sure the rest of the world will probably feel the effects too, higher prices for oil, gas, probably a multitude of things we don’t know about yet, but speedway must carry on as normal. If Russians feel the bad affect then they can petition for democracy, make sure that their votes do count without results being falsified. That can only be done by the populous of Russia. In the meantime we may get to see some top class speedway, that’s if Putin doesn’t do what people in more then a few nations are worried about……. They may be next for the attention of his “manoeuvres”.

Nationalism has in the past caused loads of problems, and is still doing so today. In sport, I don’t care where they come from, all I want is entertainment. Maybe in the future every one rides as an individual, that means no national teams though, so it is not going to happen. So we have to put up with more problems in the future.

It’s a country that takes a lot of pride Is in winning and being the best…. Hence the cheating. Putin loves the glory. Added to all the other sanctions and it just may jolt him and his cronies. Some non Russian businesses are losing money, lots of money, to penalise Russia for that they doing. The people in Ukraine haven’t done anything to deserve the pain they have…. except for being born there. They have lost loved ones, their homes, their income. So there are reasons behind it and it has been discussed for days on this forum, but it is not this forum that is banning them., though most who have participated in the discussion agree with it.
