Sheffield vs. Belle Vue Grand Final 2nd Leg 13/10/22
OveFundinFan replied to TTT's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Just watched all 15 heats, just the races…none of the in between stuff, on Discovery+ and I thought this 2nd leg was more exciting, by a short head, than the first leg. A really good meeting, well done to both teams. Usually good meetings between BV and Sheffield, even back in the 60’s and 70’s. -
Sheffield v Wolves 06.19.22 PO semi second leg
OveFundinFan replied to Cue Ball's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I was being cynical when I said what’s one more manipulation of the rules. I followed with “that is if it is a manipulation of the rules. Maybe the legal bods at BV are standing up to manipulation but it’s not seen by everyone”. -

With the manipulation of the rules that have appears to have happened over the years, what’s one more….that is if it is a manipulation of the rules. maybe the legal bods at BV are standing up to manipulation but it’s not seen by everyone. -
2023 GP line up/wildcards
OveFundinFan replied to eric i's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It is likely the first reserve may called up to cover injury for a GP or two, but highly unusual one, never mind two would get a full season in like this year. I hope the reason of 2022 never occurs again. So, what the selectors have done this year is put a strong contender at the top, Lebedevs, and bounced around other nations whose riders have shown glimmer of hope during 2022 and give them a hope to cling on to. Fair do's in my mind. Though I do admit Rasmus Jensen in my mind it must have been close....Jensen instead of Lebedevs would have been acceptable. -
Yes he did, got it, read it twice, very good read. Written well before the new BV era. Would like a read of Dave Morton’s book.

Just ordered. When do we get one from Chris Morton, I would like to know what went on in the construction of the NSS and afterward.

2023 GP line up/wildcards

That sounds like you want riders who are clearly in the top batch in the world should step down purely because they have been at the top for a few years and still are. Perhaps the top 3 this year should not be in next years series, fed up with them winning. -

To remind yourself who scored what in each round, it’s all tabulated on FIM Speedway website. Interesting. -

I agree, IF they come back they must go through the GP Challenge or Euro championship. -

The 2023.GP series will not be weaker. It takes more than one season to get into GP racing…. So Dan, Robert, Jack, Anders, Micelson should only get better. Leon says he will be better in 23, as does Woffy. On form Vaculik can beat anyone, Janowski will be sometimes on it and sometimes not (as now), Dudek wil be good or mediocre, same with Doyle, Fricke could become consistent and be a threat, and Freddie…… if he gets rid of long covid he will be up their chasing the elusive gold. Kim Nilsson…. we will have to wait and see. 2022 was a breakthrough year for English riders, I looking forward to 2023. I think it is going to be a great year. Potential is enormous. -

Well, I picked the 15 plus Lebedevs as first series reserve. Surprised Rasmus Jensen not in that group of series reserve. Interesting no Poles in the list of series reserve. Looks like the young Poles, Drabik, Smektala, Kubera, are missing out and the likes of Dan and Robert are moving forward at a great pace. Interesting 7series reserves from 7 different countries. Truly a championship of the world competition. -

Did I hear Fricke just say he is in next years GPSeries.? If he is in I would say definitely no Russians next year. If so, I won’t miss them. -

The track looks a bit like Moto X style, bit like Poole last time I saw that on telly. -

Well, I put Woofy in my pick for next year. I don’t think Kolodzeij gets a spot as a right. He would have to get a pick. Some have said Vaculik is old, stand him down and let a younger rider step up. I think Kolodzeij is 39, two years older than Doyle, and I would think 6/7 year older then. Vaculik. -

It for injury this year he would have been in the top six. I think he won his first ever GP when he was younger but didn’t “mature”. He took a 3 year sabbatical away from GP about the same time Emil did. I feel he has the talent to be world champion, just needs to keep away from injury, which is not always easy. -
I liked the one of world finals in the 60’s/70’s, even though Wembley was not the best race track and the only “away” world final I saw was 1976, Katowice, went specifically to see PC win it, and he did. Now I can see 10 “world finals” in one year, generally the 15 best riders in the world at that point in time. Going back to a 1 meeting world final would be a backward step IMO.

That’s how I saw it too. -
So one post says Bradford was a 2 bend race track then nothing after, and another post says the only line was hugging the kerb. Yes there seems to be support for Bradford to be a GP track! I don’t understand the logic in that. Seems the only thing in its favour is it’s spectator capacity being better then BVue. Perhaps exciting races doesn’t matter to some supporters, they just like being in a crowd and bored.
