In What Order Would You Have These Legends.?
OveFundinFan replied to stratton's topic in Years Gone By
Surprised Hans Nielson not showing up in the 80's And nice to see Igor Plechanov rating well for the 70's. He didnt ride in UK too much, and the tricky Wembley track he got a hang of it real quick. Nice personality and still probably rates as the best Russian rider to grace a speedway track. 60's 1. Fundin 2. Briggs 3. Moore 4. Craven 5. knuttson 6. Mauger 70's 1.Mauger 2. Olsen 3. Collins. 4. Michanek. 5. Simmons 6. Jessup 80' Fallen away from speedway in the 80's and didnt keep my eye on things closely but up there would be Hans Nielson, Gunderson, Penhall -

Quote- But he qualified on merit so why dont people just shut the ....up! Fact and Opinion in one sentance. I dont disagree with the fact "he qualified on merit", BUT I sure not going to listen to your opinion "why dont people just shut the ....up!" I cant dispute the fact but have my own opinion on your opinion So my opinion is that we have to agree to disagree on your opinions but not the facts. -
The Decline Of British Speedway

I wouldnt expect Tai to be riding in the UK next year. After 2 years at the top I think he will realise the body can only take so much. -

I agree with Ghostwalker Your posts sounds like its ok for you to voice your opinion, but not others. If there was only ever one opinion the forum would be very boring and sink like a brick. I am ok with opinions as long as they dont get too personal. The only part of your post I can agree with 100% is "I believe Harris will be outclassed again next season but dont mock the man for qualifying. -
Thank you for those photos.

Tend to agree with those that say not good racing, overall it was'nt.... but the occassion has to be taken into account, and that what made it a good meeting. Sure there was overtaking and some close finishes but it was the fact it was a gp that made the meeting palatable.

Now that would have been a talking point - if a full time gp rider does all 12 gp's and scores less in total then someone who has only been in 4. Hang on, ..... I said "would have been a talking point", it actually could still be as one more gp to go and MJJ will probably be in it and he is just 4 points behind CH. Now who is likely to score more points at Torun. We wont have long to wait. -

Everyone except Tai and 3 others were in front of Chris Harris. He is a good rider, plenty of style and a fighting spirit... but why cant he just do an Hampel and show he would be an asset to next years gp's - I would love him to do that, seriously. -
Or did he mean Hans Nielsen - he was a good gater wasnt he?
-
I would love to know who is presenting the trophies. It isnt beyond cpabilities to put captions at the bottom of the screen to let us all know. Its always good to see the oldie riders. If it was Anders Michanek then I didnt recognise him. Ove Fundin not changed a lot, and I picked out Olle Nygren one time.

2015 Gp Wild Cards

Amazing run last night from Hapel. All from the gate basically, but it doesnt matter - they were all wins - its up to others to make a race of it. Makes the scrap for the top 8 more interesting now the for the top 3. -

It amused me that one or two reckon Harris should have given his position up to Tai. 1) I dont think Tai would want that. 2) Why should he? He is in the meeting same as anyone else, if any rider cant be in front of him by merit why should he let them past 3) How would the same people feel if a rider from, say, Poland, let his countryman past that would win him the world championship. Probably the first to moan. -
Job mostly done now by Greg. His world title to lose. Just steady rides and keep out of trouble, and I'm sure he can do that. Hampel rode really well, first 21 point max this year I think, thats some good riding. What a switch around from most of his performances this year. I fhe dont finish in top 8 now, surely he gets a wold card. Now if only some certain other English rider could pull something out of the bag, but he didnt...... again. KK blew it, nerves must have got at him. He had a great chance to do something big tonight and missed out.

Makes interesting readin. Henry Long was just a bit before my time to remember him, but I recon I must have seen him at Belle Vue. I certainly remember Mum and Dad talking about him. Can remember Doug Davies but that was early sixties so at the start when I was really into speedway. Thanks for posting that up.

I will settle for the telly if thats 2nd best - no problem.

Its the same basically in any sport - if you want to be a top professional you really have got to be dedicated and VERY professional about it all - eating habits, strict keep fit, watching entertainment habits, not late partying etc. OK some get away with less of some aspects but generally speaking it will be tough to get to and stay at the top - never been there so know personal experience. -
Its disgusting how little the British press carries about speedway. I dont read the papers often, but when I do there is virtually nothing about speedway, not even a gp result when tai has won/done well. All sorts of other minority sports, and yes I clas speedway at the moment as a minority sport, get mentions.

2015 Gp Wild Cards
OveFundinFan replied to arnieg's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
but as gets said about another rider who seems to get in "by the backdoor" - they have earned their place. NKI deserves a wild card, think that goes without saying, as for Hample - a top rider who for whatever reason is really struggling at this point in time. he could bounce back next year if given a wild card, but wouldnt it be sad if he didnt bounce back, and he struggled again all season. Tough decision - but this season not over yet, he may show good form tonight and in Torun. -

You could be lined up and shot for expressing your thoughts like that, bill94d -
Pederson seems to have calmed down since THAT incident with Zagar earlier in the series. Its Peter K. that is on the verge of taking over NP's crown, IMO, just a whisker away. All depends how Tai's and Gregs injuries hold up, but NP is not on injury free form, and I know Krystof is carrying that knee injury from early season, but KK seems to like these indoor tracks and I reckon he could be on top step tonight.

Those below 8th know what they have to do anyway, they shouldnt need telling. They should put 100% effort in - every gp they go to. -
Just seen part of the draw on speedwaygp.com and heat 16 is a cracker - Smolinski to win? (Tai, Greg, Krystof and Smoli)
